I believe my strengths are within the elements of Well-Structured Lessons, Safe Learning Environment, and Reflective Practice.
The lessons that I develop follow a specific format that includes challenging, measurable objectives, appropriate pacing for each component of the lesson, appropriate student engagement strategies, activities, materials, pre-assigned groupings, and helpful resources. For example, I implement strategies and activities within lessons in order to provide students with an excited experience while learning. Within my well-structured lessons, I ensured that I included rituals and routines that students were familiar with. I also provided students with appropriate responses if students had a misconception about the current topic in order to avoid students feeling of embarrassment or frustration. For instance, during a phonics lesson, a student wrote the word "dat" instead of the word "bat." When seeing the misconception of letter reversals, I made the comment to be sure of the direction of their written letters and to remember that "b has a belly and d wears a diaper." Seeing that this misconception was evident, I provided students with a visual of these letters on the whiteboard. Following all lessons that I teach, I reflect upon my practices and continuously ask my supervising practitioner how the previous lesson went and I state what I feel as though I could improve, as I have the tendency to grasp when I make mistakes or could provide clarification for students. I also reflect on my teaching performance when watching recorded videos and listening to voice recordings of my teaching. Using technology in this way, provides me with a great opportunity to visually see or hear how I present specific material and how I adjust my practice throughout lessons, as I am provided with unexpected questions and behavioral situations throughout a my teaching of a lesson.
I believe my areas for growth is within the elements of Adjustment to Practice and Meeting Diverse Needs.
While I believe there is always room for improvement being an educator, the elements of Adjustment to Practice and Meeting Diverse needs are my targeted areas for growth.
The element of Adjustment to Practice provides teachers
Another strength I possess is the use of data to make informed decisions about the content I teach. This includes what I teach, how I teach, and how I group students. I have learned to differentiate in a variety of ways.
I feel strongly and I am convince that the fact that I had a headache and blocked sinuses affected my learning during the course time.
Two strengths that I may build upon as a future teacher are compassion, caring and respect. I believe compassion and caring may be a source of leadership in my future classroom because my student will see that I truly care about them in and out of the classroom. Taking the time to connect and build relationships with
My greatest personal strength is that I am comfortable speaking to large groups. This will enable me to clearly give information and guide the ensemble effectively in any situation.
By having good communication skills, we are able to successfully undertake the lesson. If I am unsure of anything after reading the lesson plan I am confident in asking the teacher to explain or elaborate more on the task set to the students or learning outcome. By
The aim of the reflective essay is to highlight my own personal development skills that I have developed during first semester of my module. However, in this report I will make sure my learning ability phase and what this module has allowed me to work and understand in improving my personal skills and purpose. My major aim is to develop and assess an in depth range of my personal traits as a student in order to endorse my future development plan.
Starting my journey through college again was a big decision for me. Being a single parent of two children, a homeowner, and holding a stressful, full-time job left me with little free time. However, I longed to reinvent myself and find a way to advance my career. Meeting personal goals to further my education outweighed the guilt I felt, as my children were not young any longer. I decided to make advancing my education a top priority. Discovering that when I have a goal my follow through is definite, but it is not always easy. What I overlooked as I headed down the path to fulfill my educational goal, was that stress has real health consequences.
Intern met with resident K. Brown for the purpose of addressing her personal concerns and speaking with her about her community service hours. Kiara informed me that she completed her community service hours for the previous week. Intern asked her to verify the days she completes CS hours, and she stated Sundays and Wednesdays. Resident did express her frustrations by saying that she used to mess up with her CS hours, but she is really trying to do better. Intern advised her that another resident completes hers during that time, so she will have to do CS hours on Mondays and Thursdays or Mondays and Fridays. Intern also explained to her the importance of doing CS hours. It was explained that not only is this a requirement of the program,
As I began facilitating my scheduled students, a classroom teacher requested I also support non disable students not being serviced in the program including them in minor groups. Overjoyed with this innovative position, I knew instantly this was my calling to be an educator. The love of engagement of the lesson that reflects unambiguous communication between students and their peers, collaboration between teacher and student, motivation from students to students. In addition, I appreciated and accepted my newly found role, becoming euphoric when the Special Education Director employed my services in the summer of 2006. I carefully observed numerous effective and efficient teachers’ model positive curriculum lessons and strategies to students
Every one has their subjects that they love and hate, and for it was defiantly writing. Writing is something I dreaded for a long time; I developed my hatred towards writing since probably elementary school. I hate writing when I’m expected to put a spin on a subject that just doesn’t work for me, personally. There are many times when I have papers due and sometimes I feel like I have nothing to say towards the topic. I could write a paragraph but to continuously write paragraphs after paragraphs it gets a little harder. I always contradict myself in my writings but that is something I have grown out of. Writing is time consuming and requires a lot of effort. They require a lot of planning and usually some accompanying reading and note taking. Taking notes is one of my weaknesses. In some intuitions like my high school for instances there was not enough time is given to the rough draft and not enough feedback is given before the essay receives a final grade. I personally believe that not everyone is a "natural-born" writer; but I do believe that everyone has the capability to become a decent writer.
The Writing II course has been my most interesting and rewarding class. Even though I could not complete the class, the course is not over for me. Before taking the class, I acknowledge I have much room to grow in writing, but I did not know where to start. Writing has always been unclear to me in many areas, and this class helped me to unblemished my understanding. In this class, I have acknowledged my weakest areas in writing, but my most astonished ambiguity was determiner noun and vocabulary. I did not know I was using determiner incorrectly and vocabulary span is so important in academic writing. The English Simplied book is an easy and an excellent learning tool that was used in this course. It covers all areas in determiners.
What concepts, principles, or ideas that you have learned, do you think you will remember the most after you leave this class?
Reflection is considered as a vital element of professional practice as it precedes to insight and then subsequent change in practice. The hypothesis of reflection is not new as it can be tracked as far back in the 5th century by the influential Greek philosopher, Socrates and to the 1930s primarily focusing on John Dewey’s work. Dewey is one of the founders of learning from experience. He theorised reflection as ‘active, persistent and careful consideration’ (Dewey, 1933) initiated by a specific situation which was opposing, perplexing or uncertain. One of its most common use today is coming up with a thought, an idea, or opinion made or an observation made as a result of concentration, suggesting in essence a way of thinking in which one looks back and meditate upon (Agnes, 2004).
Strengths: Being diligent, make sure that I submitted all the requirements in the class before due date. Enthusiastic in learning new skills and activities.
The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways.
