My name is Damian Ramirez, and for my recyclable project my dad and I worked together. We decided to build a car made out of carboard. The material that we used were carboard box, tape, aluminum foil, filler paper, googly eyes and krazy glue. We first drew the wheels then we trace the top part of the car and we glue all the parts together. We also covered the car using aluminum foil and filler paper and finally we put some googly eyes and we added some extra decorations.
My first design was too big to fit on the wedge of wood that we worked with so I had to modify the design by making the top more curved and as a result, the car was shorter than I had originally planned it to be. After the design was complete, we cut out the outlines and taped them onto foam wedges that were the same size as the wooden wedges that we would use later. Then we traced
Last month, we started out the CO2 Dragster Project. Our assignment was about designing and building a race car made of balsa wood for the Dragster Race. We were supposed to sketch 5 different designs of the top and side views of the dragster on OneNote, and pick one of the five to be our final designs. Unfortunately, I transferred to this school halfway through the project, and I had to change my plan: sketch only one design. When I first started, I had no experience with this, and I did not have as much time as most people did, so I thought l wouldn’t do well on this. This project was challenging to me, students needed many skills to do a good job on the project. Personally, the greatest challenges were patience and determination of hard work.
The facility would contain an office area for the Sustainability Supervisor, a paid employee of Mercer University who would be responsible for the recycling and sustainability efforts at Mercer University. They would oversee interns responsible for maintaining and updating the website as well as student workers who would sort recyclable materials. It would be outfitted with three computers, office furniture, and a solar compactor. Collected recyclables would be taken to that facility to be sorted, compacted and housed. With the creation of a sustainability office, we would be able to increase the amount of recyclable waste that could be stored on campus and simply take the material to Atlanta, directly, after it was capable of filling the truck. This would decrease the amount of trips taken downtown to the Macon recycling center and increase Mercer’s independence in the sustainability movement.
As the chief steward for Local 37, how would you substantiate your allegation that the dismissal violated the collective bargaining agreement?
The idea came to me of making a car that I could fit my dolls in. I started by drawing out a carefully thought out plan. Piece by piece, my project was coming together. I had to pace myself because I knew that it wasn't a one day project or even a week project. Sometimes, my calculations weren’t always accurate and pieces wouldn’t fit together as they should. I often had to cut pieces to make them fit into place.
I very much enjoyed the balloon car project. The most enjoyable part was building the car itself. LEGO is an old hobby of mine, so using it to make a balloon car added a whole new layer of fun to the project. The best part was if we broke the car or something went wrong, we could always rebuild it to almost exactly as it was before.
One project that is very enjoyable and can be done by people of just about any age is building small plastic model cars. It does not take a lot of skill to build one of these model cars but the more effort that a person is willing to put into the project the better the end result can be. The first model will probably not turn out as hoped for or expect, but with a little patience and some practice the ending results should become better and better. The building of a model car can give a person feelings of great accomplishment, which can help build up their self-esteem.
America currently has a growing population of over 300 million people. Every day the average American produced 4.4 pounds of garbage. As a nation Americans produced over 200 million tons of waste in 2013. Only 34.4 percent of that waste was recovered. Over 65 percent of that garbage is left to rot and pollute the environment. Many other countries face the same epidemic. There are many ways Americans can reduce pollution and keep our planet cleaner, one for those ways for instance is recycling. Recycling defined is to treat or process used or waste materials, to make suitable for reuse. The process starts by knowing what to recycle and how. Understanding the effects and benefits of reprocessing can persuade people to make
How will I help our environment? I will be partnering up with Karlie Ramirez, we have decided on the 21st of October to head up to Giant Rock, located in Lucerne Valley. Over the years mankind has polluted our air drastically, consequently we throw trash on the ground and in our oceans. At worst is air pollution. Exhaust fumes, Radiation spill or nuclear accidents It creates an adverse effect on the overall environment. We put fumes and gases in our air on a daily base and How does this affect our environment? As some of us have seen It kills wildlife and is currently putting a hole in our Ozone Layer. Karlie and I will be heading to pick up trash, approximately for about 5 hours. Before we can move forward, there are a few steps we will need to complete before the 23rd of September. Moving Forward to our first step, will need to speak to our parent about purchasing a few items. Such as, trash bags, gloves and water. Moving on to our Second step, discussing where we will be disposing of all trash we pick up. When you make a point of doing everything you can to help your environment by recycling, your actions make you part of the solution rather than part of the problem. Our third step, talk to our parents about transportation and Location in Giant Rock. After these steps, Karlie and I will be ready to help our earth function and breathe, on the 21st of October. (Here we come Giant Rock!) Everyday items such as soda cans and plastic bottles can be deadly for unsuspecting wildlife.
Recycling is something that most Americans do, but not all. I for one, am guilty when it comes to not recycling. Its not that I dont care for the environment; it is more of me not having time to separate trash. I am in favor for not making recycling a law.
Each students design is their own and even though they build their cars individually, they also learn from one another by incorporating a good idea into their design. Students soon learn to respect their competitors and get back good comments on their accomplishments. This project is also good for teaching
Well, that is exactly what Mrs. Farrelly-Moyotl’s 11th-grade fashion design class did. One student made a dress from plastic bags filled with floating fish. Another, pieced together a dress using 1,134 plastic straws. Also, as a class they made a chandelier made from hamster tubes. Mrs. Farrelly-Moyotl said, “This project allowed my class to design something of their choice, using a material of their choice and raise environmental awareness at the same time.
My project was a success because my dad and I built the Cornhole boards, but I was not expecting me to procrastinate, to where I started later than I would have wanted to. What surprised me was that it didn’t take too long to build, if I wouldn’t have procrastinated, I would have gotten done a little earlier. This project impacted me by showing me that woodwork is very useful, and that it is better than going to the store and buying a Cornhole set.
My group and I are building a toy car that is powered by rubber bands. The materials that we were allowed to use for this car project were cardboard, rubber bands, pencils, wooden skewers, tape, glue, CDs, plastic lids, and paper clips. Our car cannot be more than 30 centimeters in length and 15 centimeters in width. We have to make our car travel at least 3 meters.
For my project, I planned to refuse any plastic bags offered to me and use reusable bags instead. My goal was to use reusable bags and no plastic bags whenever I went to the grocery store or shopping. After researching the effects of plastic on the ocean, I wanted to do my part to help reduce my own plastic waste. Although I was not 100% successful in my effort to eliminate my own plastic use, I still benefitted from this project. It forced me to be much more conscientious about my own plastic use as well as the plastic usage of others.
