In Rebel, by Willo Davis Roberts, the two main characters Rebel and Moses have specific similar and different characteristics. Rebel and Moses are both clever and intelligent as well as adventurous. However, Rebel is a leader and perseveres whereas Moses is afraid of the consequences and tries to be innocent and sincere. On page 80, the author states that, “‘It’s time we turned detective...Why did somebody break in and only steal a video camera?’... ‘The front door was accidentally unlocked and the camera was just inside…’” replied Moses to Rebel’s inquiry on the robbery. The author proves that Rebel and Moses are brave, smart and sly because instead of immediately calling the police, they wanted to pursue the bad guys themselves and find
“The Interlopers” and “The Sniper” are two thrilling stories that captivate your attention by adding the right amount of wits and feelings, to the right amount of action and adventure. In these stories, two men, both unaware of the other’s true personality and character, yearn the destruction of the other. “The Interlopers” and “The Sniper” are two stories that have both similarities and differences in the conflicts of the plot, moral values in the theme, and irony of the unexpected twists of the two stories.
“In the heart of nation’s capital, in a courthouse of the U.S government, one man will stop at nothing to keep his honor, and one will stop at nothing to find the truth.” This tagline helps to sum up the tone of the film A Few Good Men. Two soldiers caught in the middle of right and wrong will keep there hope and loyalty high as they wish for the best. Will the instigator of it all be pressured through his own anger to reveal the truth? Rob Reiner presents Col. Nathan R. Jessep as having an exaggerated self opinion while using his power for evil, based on dispositional factors.
One thing Atticus Finch and Sam Leibowitz had in common was that both of them were trying their best to get the accused people an appeal. They questioned the accusers very precisely
In every story there was some kind of conflict. In the “Sniper’’ there was two snipers and they
Reluctance or stubbornness in ending impulsive actions can have consequences. In the Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Liesel Meminger’s inability to halt her dangerous habits put her and others’ lives in dangerous situations. Three main examples of Liesel’s dangerous activities are when she steals books, when she demonstrates kindness at improper times, and when she disrespects others for her own selfish reasons. In all these examples, there is always one moment where Liesel places her or others in harm’s way and narrowly escapes punishment.
In “The Sniper”, the main character is thrown into a revolutionary civil war. He’s pressed to make quick decisions off of his training and human instinct. The protagonist in “Ambush” is faced with the same issue, he’s in a bunker on watch waiting for something to happen. He’s trained to react when something does, but his humanly instinct tells him otherwise. Both characters soon make decisions they regret, but can’t take back. “I’ll watch him walk toward me, his shoulders slightly stooped, his head cocked to the side, and he’ll pass within a few yards of me and suddenly smile at some secret thought and then continue up the trail to where it bends back into the fog,” (“Ambush”) said by the protagonist, this clues the reader in on the fact that he regrets his decision of killing the innocent man who may have never harmed him. Albeit someone senior to him told him that it was right and completely justified, he still feels distraught and remorseful about what he had done. “Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother's face,” (“The Sniper”) said
While writing "The Power of The Situation" Lee Ross and Richard E. Nisbett explains, there are no indicators on a persons reaction given a certain situation ( 149). Ross and Nisbett continue to say, a person 's past cannot determine how a human 's actions will take place in a future scenario, even if the human has a kind heart, they may not always be willing to help a person in need. Leading into this Ross and Nisbett state, " Social Psychology has by now amassed a vast store of such empirical parables" (Ross and Nisbett 149). Many people believe a past of a person will help them to identify or interpret how a person will act; However, Ross and Nisbett believe for this to be a fundamental attribution error (149). The power of a situation causes people to act in ways they may not have ever dreamed of, for instance The My Lai Massacre. "The My Lai Massacre: A military Crime of Obedience" written by, Herbert C. Kelman and V. Lee Hamilton consists of a small series of crimes committed by our own military ( Kelman and Hamilton 131). During the massacre military soldiers were humiliating and dehumanizing the enemies simply because their leading officer commanded them to do so (140-141). As their once simple actions became an everyday routine, the soldiers never questioned the unjust commands given by the authority (140). Dawson and Downey followed the orders given by their superior in command without a hesitation to stop and think whether or not the actions soon to be taken were

Many are familiar with Anne Frank's diary and have even sat down and watched the movie The Diary of Anne Frank. With her diary we learn a lot about Anne and her family, as well as the tragic story of their life, and the lives of many other Jews. However, this is not the only movie that gives us an insight in the life of a young girl during World War II. The Book Thief is in many ways similar to The Diary of Anne Frank in which the viewer is provided the experiences of the war between two very different young girls that have to adapt to a new home and possess an increasing hunger for knowledge.
In the city of thieves there are two protagonist of the story. Lev Beniov is the protagonist of the story, whom the story begins with. His personality is more dynamic because he deveps through the story. Kolya Vlasov is the second protagonist of the book, and is introduced very near to the beginning of the novel. He almost serves as Lev’s polar opposite, with his charming, bubbly personality, striking good looks, and popularity with the ladies. At first, Lev hates him for this reason, and does not trust him, but over time their relationship

The biblical event I chose was the story of Moses. When Moses was born the Hebrew were slaves in Egypt. When pharaoh saw the Hebrews population going up he took the drastic measures to kill every new born Hebrew boy. He sent his soldiers to do so. Moses’ mother hides him for 3 months without them finding him but she knew it wouldn’t be long before they killed Moses so she had to make a plan. She decided to put Moses into a basket and send him down the river. She sent her daughter to watch the basket as it went down the river. Moses ended up in the pharaoh’s daughter’s hands. Her daughter told pharaohs daughter that she knew a lady that could be Moses’ nurse from then on Moses’ real mom would be his nurse as he grew up. She took Moses to the
Mental and moral courage are different types of courage that are demonstrated in To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee and The Help, directed by Tate Taylor. These can be compared and contrasted by sharing similarities and differences through dialogue, characterisation, plot techniques and the opinions through the eyes of different characters. These techniques are also used to help an audience understand the different meanings of courage that are demonstrated in these two texts.
Moses was a leader of the Hebrews and probably the most important figure in Judaism. He led the Hebrew people out of Egypt and into the Promise Land. His story is told in the book of Exodus, and begins when he was first born during the time that the pharaoh of Egypt declared that all male Hebrew babies were to be drowned at birth. Moses’ mother Yocheved, hid Moses and placed him in a basket in the reeds of the Nile River, where he was then found by the pharaoh’s daughter, who kept Moses and raised him as her own. In the story of Moses, he grows up and stumbles upon an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave. Out of anger Moses murders the Egyptian, and flees to Midian to escape his crime (Hays, 2000). In Midian, Moses rests besides a well,
