change a rule story Have you ever been in a position where you really needed to use your phone? Well situations like that happen all the time, and yes even school. So the rule that should be changed in meadowbrook is the phone policy. This policy should be changed because some people need to text their parents if they are not feeling good, they can be used as learning aids, listening to music can help them focus on their work. these are my reasons why the phone policy should change even though some would argue that kids would just use them to text their friends. I believe their should be a trust there between student and teacher. My first reason why the phone policy should change is because kids text their parents if they don’t feel good. When a kid feels really sick who is the first person they call/text, their parents. Why should we have to walk the nurse's office to call our parents when we have a perfectly good phone in our pockets. Sometimes when I feel horrible I want to just pull out my phone and go in the hallway call one of my parents and ask to pick me up, but no if i want to get picked up I have to walk to the nurse's office to call one of my parents to come and pick me up. If someone is really sick, walking to the nurse’s office to …show more content…
Phone apps can offer . Nowadays they have apps to help them see the lesson visually so class can be more fun for the students would still be learning the lesson. Tablet can offer similar things, but can provide better user experience because of size or visual differences. I could see how they would be ify about this because they might not do their work and text their friend, or play games on the phone, or tablets. I know I like class way better when we’re in class and we play kahoot on our phones or chromebooks, and i'm not saying it should be a everyday thing but teachers should try and make it happen more
Phones are easy to use and very accessible by both students and teachers. “Smartphones allow us to take down notes any time, any place.” “smartphones allows you to access resources and material quickly before an exam.” “not only can we make videos, but we can also edit them, add text, filters, effects and more.” This is true because smartphones really do work in a way that is helpful to students and teachers. This evidence is supporting it by just stating that there are many cool and useful ways to use them.
Peter Heather, for example, the author of the fall of the Roman empire, explains his reasoning behind why he feels that the Roman fall was not only a factors of internal dysfunction. Looking back on it now the success and let down of common tax payers reflect where Rome achieved among their peers showing off where they stand among their enemies.41 however, Edward Gibbon, argues, in the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, his arguments of internal factors and Christianity taking over paganism as a shot at the morality and standard of the common Roman. However for my thesis I found Edward Gibbon Book unhelpful but luckily Peter Heather put things in perspective when it came to the source and his rebuttal for Gibbon was that if his argument
There are countless other reasons for the proposal to be implemented. For instance, a revised curriculum in schools could positively impact the students of these schools. It’s vital that schools that allow students to use their cell phones in class immediately put a stop to this practice. However some people such as, Lisa Nielson would argue with this. She believes that cell phones are the way of the future and need to be embraced (Nielson, 2008, p.5.). However this needs to be the first step because cell phones become a distraction in the classroom. Luckily, Jack Tessier reports that many schools have already taken preventative measures, “many schools have implemented policies to restrict cell phone use by students and teachers” (Tessier, 2013). These policies are important to implement because if students are using their cell phones it follows that they are not listening to the teachers. Furthermore, schools need to cease their dependence on technology outside of the classroom. Cell phones slow students down and prevent them from efficiently completing their work. “ Using your cell phone while completing a task takes 50 percent longer and you make up to 50 percent more errors.” (Kaminski 2015, p.2). Classroom activity for the most part should be limited to lectures and homework based on what was learned in class. This is necessary because students already know how to use technology, it’s important for them to learn to use their resources to complete assignments. They need
Do you think that a school rule should be changed? Well, I do and I think that the school rule that should be changed is about phones. We should be able to have our phones out during school, don’t you think so? Should children be able to have our phones at school?
The first reason cell phones should be allowed in school is if a student needs to contact someone if they are sick. We should be allowed to call or text are parents if we feel sick. Kids will leave school and not get teachers or students sick. Kids will be able to stay at home so they can get better then come back so they do not miss too many days. If there is a emergency parents might need contact a student or something might happen at school where a student might need to call or text their parent. If kids have a condition of some sort they might need to let their parent know what they need. If students are sick and out of school for a while they should be allowed to make the work up that they missed. If students are sick and text or call someone to come get them that looks good on the school almost like they send people home so others don’t get sick and germs do not
Over the years, people have been using an electronic device called phones which are used for calling, looking up websites, and playing mobile games. However, high school students abuse there phone usage and will use it instead of learning and listening to important information. High school teachers and staff members have grown really annoyed by the phone usage so they came up with an idea, which states that any student who has there phone out will be taken away and put into the office. Of course the students complain that they can’t have there phones out and will blame the teachers for this rule. Although it may seem unfair for the students, this will
Schools should allow students to have their phones out in school. In case they need to contact their parents in a state of an emergency like a lock down or a threat to the school so they contact their parents so their parents know what's going (onkwikboost.com).Another reason is If the students are too shy to tell their school nurse they had an accident, I would be easier for the student to call their parents for what they need so they won't be embarrassed. To call or text their parents if their practice is cancelled or if they have to stay after to school to finish a test. You see there are so many opportunities students would need to contact their parents during school hours you can’t always use the office to call home.
I believe we should change the phone policy because it would provide a type of safety for kids and a lot of kids use their phones for their homework on stuff they don't understand.
People should not be able to use cell phones in certain places. If you are needing to use a cellphone that bad, then you shouldn’t be there in the first place. If it is urgent, then outside for a few minutes instead of annoying the others around you. Nothing pisses me off more than when you’re in a restaurant and the guy at the table next to you is talking on the phone, he has no reason to go to a restaurant just to talk on the phone.
Primarily, schools should not allow cell phone use during school hours for a number of reasons; cell phones cause distraction and affects the student’s participation in the classroom. In the article “Should Schools Allow Cell Phone Use During the School Day?”, Punoinoin states, “Many
As this world keeps changing more and more phones are going to be developed and more students are going have their phones out in school and school should just change this rule about the phone policy because knowing that the students are not going to listen to what we say even if we still take their phone and give it to the office and their parents haves to come and pick it up they are going to still give their phone back to them and i just think that we just need to change this rule.
Cell phones are the number one essential that people carry on a day to day basis. It is the necessary device to help connect with one another. The school board states that cellular device should be expelled completely from school grounds since it may distract other students from learning in a school environment. Banning cell phones completely on school grounds is not the right idea to help solve the problem because of the students safety and the ability to communicate with their parents or guardians from an after school activity or calling for a necessary thing that they need.
Students can use educational apps on their phones if they need help to do their work. Some teachers might not have calculators for students to use when they do their work and it´s probably hard for them. If students used their phones for calculators then students would probably use it to help them on their work. Students get on their phones and look up answers to homework and don´t use the book they have.
The first rule in the phone policy to make cellphones more harder to use, is for teachers to make sure that students may only use their phone in the case of an emergency. There are students that use their phone for inappropriate reasons or for cheating. As cellular technology improves, students get easier options when cheating, “teachers have caught students taking pictures of tests to send to other students”(Shaw). Even if the student may do these unruly things, all students must be able to contact someone if the student gets into a troubling situation to make sure all
lot of since for students not to be able to use their cell phones during school hours.
