I am an RTF and Plan 2 major. I was president of the student government at my high school, and I was a part of student government for the 6 years leading up to that. I am a major advocate for women's rights especially through my films. If I were a Disney Princess, I would be Alice in Wonderland but in The Little Mermaid's movie. I'm curious and stubborn but I have a passion for knowledge and adventure. I'm in love with the ocean; I am a water baby through and through. (Therein is how I justify the Alice underwater comparison.) I am obsessed with my dog, though he doesn't pay me much attention. It matters to me deeply that I feel passionate about the work that I am doing. I am working with a friend of mine to start a ConnectHer chapter on campus. ConnectHer is the female empowerment organization that I have worked with in the past and have made films for. I also plan on finding a dance group on campus and getting involved with TSTV. …show more content…
I think there is no better way for me to get thrown into Plan II life than to join P2SA. I would bring to the table my film/photography background, my experience as a leader in organizations such as Student Theater Council, ConnectHer, Student Government, and Defining Feminism club, and an excitement to get in the mix. What I most want out of P2SA is to be as involved as possible with Plan II and all that it has to offer. I do not want to let these 4 years of my life slip by. I would love to be a part of P2SA so that I could have the best and most intimate experience with Plan II that is possible for me, and so that I could hopefully give opportunity for other student to have such an experience with Plan II as
Through experiencing social injustices, and making myself more culturally aware of inequality amongst social classes, I believe I have cultivated the leadership skills necessary for success. My willingness to reach out to the environment beyond me has exposed me to a career path that excites me and is my true passion. I plan to take action to improve the lives of the defenseless and those who are politically and socially disadvantaged. Through utilizing what I have learned by dedicating my time to service I know that I will truly make an impact on the lives of the helpless. During my years attending university I plan to continue a rigorous course load focused on a career path that truly intrigues me. I also plan on continuing to dedicate my free time to service and philanthropy. Overall, I have dedicated my high school career to becoming a leader in and out of the classroom. I hope that by attending University of Texas-Austin I will be able to utilize the resources provided to become a leader prepared to make worldwide change, continue on a path of academic achievement, and create a successful future not only for myself, but for those in generations to come as
3. What your major is, or if undecided, what you think you'd like it to be. What about that field do you like?
I am Sarah Acado and I am majoring in Biology and obtaining a certificate in Agroecology, its great to have a green thumb. I am currently employed with the USDA Research center. Besides work and school , I enjoy spending time with my significant others. I enjoy outside activities and I like to go to arcades and act as if I am thirteen years old with no responsibilities in the world (yeah right). I expect to learn more about the human race and why we do certain things and learn about the different cultural practices. Within five years, I hope to be within my physician assistant career helping to better other people lives through medicine and therapy. My links to my two favorite websites are:
My major is Human Development. I am taking 13 units for this fall 2015, and volunteering at Horizon Cross Cultural Center where I can learn my skills and my experiences. My future plan is graduate in the Spring of 2017. After graduation, I plan to work full-time.
I'm a stay-at-home-mom of two and married to my best friend. I'm creative, adore mermaids, and love bath bombs. I believe in constantly bettering myself and seek to always grow.
I plan to work closely with Jill Patterson and the Title IX commission to support and advance sexual assault awareness. One initiative that I plan on doing is working closer with MSU Residence Life. Working as an RA for the 2015, I was trained heavily on Title IX issues and sexual assault prevention. As MSU requires all freshmen to live on campus their first year, Residence Life is an integral part of educating new students. To do this, I would work closely with Alisa Garbisch who works with the LLC halls and be a part of the Bears for a Just Community LLC. The LLC currently focuses on human rights and advocates to make a difference. This could be beneficial to not only the LLC but to the Title IX commission as it may bring in interested students to SGA and the commission. I would also focus on the general residence hall population by working with the
If you are looking for a way to get involved on campus while making a great impact on students and campus life, this opportunity will benefit you.
I would like to tell you a bit about myself: I am a social person, who loves to help. I try to invest in the studies as much as I can, yet I also work to provide for myself. In the future, I would like to work in the field of medicine, and in the army I would like to serve in the border guard unit.
Hi! My name is Jenny Vo and I am majoring in International Studies and minoring in Accounting and Nonprofit Studies. I received my Associate degree at Wake Technical Community College. My goal is to become a health administrator in the future. I am Vietnamese, but I was born and raise in Raleigh, North Carolina. I hope to travel around the entire world after I graduate. I like to stay active (running, yoga, dancing,etc.). I am obsessed with hello kitty and Nike sneakers.
Instead of partying and messing around I plan to allow myself into clubs to further my academic purposes. Accomplishments in my eyes are going to be creating my own club based on science and weather, and to extend my knowledge farther than just a masters degree. This experience is important because I will then have the opportunity to show Universal College how I started at the bottom and worked my way to the top.In clonclusion, Universal College chose me for the courses they have majors in. I will contribute by building a better club suitable for learning more about weather and science. Participating in clubs, soccer and making a college club known for students that enjoy science is my participation in Universal College. Therefore I will accomplish my dreams of gaining my masters and doctoral degree in science and weather, thus completing my college
Academically, I want to make the most of the incredible opportunity of receiving a higher education; however, I also hope to grow and develop as an individual. I will be also be joining the men's soccer team at Wofford College, which will present additional challenges as well as opportunities. College will undoubtedly present a plethora of new experiences and open a number of new doors and opportunities. I want to soak it all in and make the most of every minute. My ultimate dream is to work in a career that I feel passionate about. Ensuring that I feel strongly about my work is very important to me and I believe it is pivotal to maximizing my potential contribution to society. My greatest interest and passion currently lies in learning and better understanding politics, economics, sociology, and other social sciences. A career in public service is where I believe I can thrive and flourish. Whether it be in education, economics, healthcare, or any other outlet, I have no doubt public service is where I belong. Throughout my life, I have constantly looked to fulfill positions of leadership and I plan on continuing to do so in my professional life. As my generation becomes the leaders of America's future, I hope to be a leading figure that can assist in moving us in a promising
I am a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Public Policy. After starting out college unsure of what I wanted to major in, I finally found my passions in education and international affairs through my majors.
For example, its significant role in community service. By partaking in several of its community service programs—such as Penn Compact 2020 and Upward Bound—I can continue to satisfy my craving for serving humanity; I have always had a fervor for community service and thus UPenn would allow me to build upon my desire to make a difference in society. UPenn’s academically based community service is a unique type of community service that would empower me to integrate my education with my community service activities. The Student Sustainability Association at Penn would allow me to collaborate with With more than seventeen environmental groups to get involved with too. I strongly believe that the world’s current environmental degradation is one of the most significant challenges we face today, and therefore UPenn would give me the opportunity to further and more effectively address this matter. Moreover, I would love to become a contributing member to one of UPenn’s several choir ensembles, preferably the university choral society. I have sung in various choirs since second grade and by becoming a member of this group, I would be able to sustain my passion for singing. Furthermore, UPenn's collection of more than 450 clubs and organizations would enable me to assimilate into the campus via these fun micro-communities as well as to interact with other students who share common interests. Ultimately, attending
I hope to participate in more school sanctioned events that give back to the
A secret agent. A professional football player. A fire fighter. These would have been my responses when asked that inevitable question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Family, Media and Peers are said to have influenced my views concerning the role I am to play society. All of these factors had one thing in common. They all were influencing me to behave according to my gender. Everything from the clothes I wore to the toys I played with contributed to this. Even now as a young adult my dreams and aspirations are built around the gender roles that were placed on me.
