I am majoring in graphic design for my associate’s degree. Currently after this semester, I need twenty more credits until I complete my associate’s degree. Once I receive my associates degree, I am looking to transfer to a four year university to major in visual design to become a fashion stylist; during that time, I am hoping to be a part of an internship, studying abroad to learn more skills. Furthermore, once I have achieved in my education, I know I will be successful in pursuing my dream job.
My reasoning for taking this class is that it is a repeat for me in order to do a better job in the class. Last semester, I realized I had too much on my plate between four classes and was not able to achieve at a higher level. In order to do better in this class, I have given myself a lesser workload so I can put in more time and attention into my work to receive a better grade. When I signed up for this class initially last semester, I picked religion because I have always been interested in learning about different cultures, and when learning about different cultures, it also helps to learn about the most common religion within that culture. Importantly,

I have been to several Christian churches, a Catholic church, and a mosque; it is safe to say that each experience was completely different. Through these experiences, I have learned some or most of the practices for each religion, and learning more about these religions gave me a better understanding of each of them. Being involved in learning about these religions, I am more of an accepting person and always involved to learn more to broaden my knowledge. Granted I have not been a part of learning a newer religion, unless Scientology counts as a religion. Although I have never attended their own church, I did learn some information; otherwise, I haven't explored any other religions other than when I was
Currently, I am learning regarding about other religions and their faiths such as Christianity, Buddhism, and others. Experiencing new religion and
An Associate’s degree from LSC- Montgomery could change my life because it would be my first achievement in my effort to become an innovative electrical engineer. Once I complete my first two years, I plan to expand my education even more.
I belong to a non-denominational bible study which is based in Christianity but often fluctuates to other religions and through this class have been able to add insight and explore these topics more in-depth. I feel the best way to explore religions is through structured classes because navigating through them alone is complex and overwhelming. I do have contact’s including the Sikh I ran into at the grocery store that send me articles and insight’s about their own personal religions which I quite enjoy and inspire new thoughts or questions. I do not plan on becoming a theology minor but I do plan on selecting electives to help my development in the future. There is a lot of history and values about the Eastern religions that cannot be covered in a 14 week class, however, I do have interest and questions on the history and development of some of the more obscure religions that was only briefly touched. The history of a religion can help give insight into certain aspects of religion that may not make sense or seem obsolete to an Americanized way of thinking. It also gives a further depth to a religion and put perspective on its survival and strength throughout
This class would focus on the five religions with the most adherence in Winston-Salem and worldwide: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Students would learn the central tenants of each faith, as well as the similarities and differences between them. As juniors and seniors in high school, these students exhibit a greater amount of maturity and a greater ability to think critically about religion. By offering Introduction to Religion as an elective course, students get to decide whether or not to take this course; therefore, students who sign up will likely display a genuine interest in the subject. This discussion-based class would create a forum for students to professionally discuss religion and the influence it has on society. In the classroom, religion can be taught objectively to increase students’ knowledge about religion without influencing their personal
Upon reading the chapters written by both Kessler and Martin this week I believe that this will be an interesting course for the seven remaining weeks. Even though I identify myself as a follower of the Christian faith, I think it will be nice to have a fresh outlook on religion from the outsider's point of view. From my time as a first grader through my time as an eighth grader, I spent at least an hour or two each week learning about the Catholic faith in a religion class. Also, I would like to see how this course will possibly change my outlook or open my eyes to different aspects of religion. In addition, I expect to have discussions about several religions from the various regions of the world. I hope that these discussions will help me broaden my understanding and appreciation of other religion and cultural backgrounds
I signed up for World Religions class for a few reasons to fulfil graduation requirements, it was something new, and learn new perspective. Originally I signed up for this class due to it counting for two Minnesota transfer circular goals credit for human diversity goal seven and global perspective goal eight. I also sign up for World Religions class because it was something completely new to me. I went to a private Lutheran school preschool through eighth grade. Than to a high school that was heavily influenced by the neighboring churches. The biggest religious differences I had encounter before college was how Catholic and Lutherans different in teachings about Mary the mother of Jesus, sacraments of alter/communion, and our annul softball tournament. Consequently, I knew taking this class would be a challenge due to so many new concepts. My expectations for the end of the class were by the end to have a new perspective, better understanding, and be able to identify key concepts of world religion
I have decided to pursue an advanced degree because I realized my current research interests involve skills and experiences that can only be obtained through an advanced degree and research. My main objective is to become an efficient and impactful scientist to my field and impacted communities. I have discovered through recent research experiences that I have the determination and mindset to fully succeed in completing an advanced degree. These experiences have also taught me skills to use while in graduate school like the steps to create and execute research projects and how to effectively communicate my research to a board community. Furthermore, I still have the passion to learn and explore new boundaries of my potential as a scientist
As a practicing Catholic, I consider myself open minded about other religions I had some previous knowledge of Judaism, taking a religion class last year. I welcome and respect our differences. I try not to judge or let my views interfere in the beliefs of others. I am open to learning more to better understand those beliefs. All religions adapt to the ever-changing world we live in. I feel we should not judge others, attempt to learn and understand each other, and grow and change over time in regard to religion.
During the start of the semester, I was a bit skeptical of taking this course. I thought that this course would eventually try to sway our belief systems and change the way in which we think about religion or any higher. It is important to study the history of Christianity to provide background knowledge of historical facts and ideas. What we know to be true before taking this course can all be changed once we open our minds to the unknown and start piecing together important elements of the past.
What I have planned for the future includes graduating with my undergraduate degree this coming December, which entails completing 12 credits this summer, as well as 12 credits and a 150 hour internship in the Fall. Upon graduation I am hoping to enter into a graduate program. Currently, I have been leaning more towards
Throughout history most religions have been primarily based around putting their God above all others, and showing love and acceptance. In my Anthropology class I was assigned to write down my experience on visiting a different religious denomination. Influence by one of my friends I decided to visit his temple, Lucero De Jesucristo an evangelic church. During my visit, I paided close attention while their service was held and from my sit I observed their different religious practices. Concluded the service I was surprised by the many differentiations I was able to observe.
I grew up raised as a Christian, therefore every other religion was off limits. My parents were very strict in following Christianity: the bible and our preachers’ teachings were important. This is all they knew and they were fine with it. I in no way blame them for this. They are faithful in their religion and I respect that; on the other hand, I embrace other religions and other peoples’ beliefs. One I find particularly fascinating is Buddhism. My friend, Jennifer, has been talking about this temple she goes to and kept insisting I attend one evening with her. I finally did and I have to say it was the most wonderful experience I have had in a long time. Buddhism is such a breath of fresh air.
Learning courses specializing in religion can foster open-mindedness, cultural appreciation and improve behavior among students. Students may be more apt to accept differences in people around them, and portray a positive attitude when they have access to learning about diverse religions.
There are many different ways to approach the study of religion. Even though this class is about religions it is our
I have come to know of religions other than my own, and each has different ways of worship. By taking the time to learn the different religions of the world has helped me with understanding what others believe. In learning of others beliefs will help me in recognizing the way they dress, act and respond. Religion runs deep in different cultures all over the world, and with many it is sacred, symbolic, and law. Religion brings people together in time of need such as deaths, destruction or pain, also in celebration of birth and marriage.
