I am a 17 year old Hispanic, military brat and athletic young woman. I am the younger of the two kids in my family. My brother and I were born in North Carolina while my parents were stationed in Fort Bragg. Currently, my parents are stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and my brother and I decided to stay in Kansas to attend college. During my time in K-State, I am going to be spending time in Kansas, Texas and Puerto Rico.
My ethnic heritage is Puerto Rican. We are from Salinas, a small and country town in the south. I visit my grandparents and family in Puerto Rico every other summer. The best thing about Puerto Rico is the time spent with family at the beach.
Both of my parents are in the military. I have experienced the moves every military
1a. Demands on men and women differs in her description of Puerto Rico because men are expected to get jobs while the women did a lot of house work. For example her father was a carpenter and her mother stayed home, cooked, cleaned, and watched the children. Attitudes in the United States are different because women and men are equal to do the same jobs.
In the tip of Texas, I was raised in a small city called Port Isabel. The community was very placid. You rarely heard the police siren go off in the neighborhood, or anyone committing a crime. Port Isabel always host fun activities for the community. La Pachanga, Tree Lighting, Feast of Sharing, High School Band Concerts, Marathons Relays, and Parades are the fun events that the community gives to the cordial people in Port Isabel. The city was near a beautiful Paradise island. When temperatures would rise above 90 degrees, everyone will pack their swimsuits, and hit the beach because of the intense heat. Even the sun will wear sunglasses.
I am fluent in both Spanish and English, I am also well aware of the Latino-American experience in the United States. I have been raised in the Los Angeles area since the age of seven and thus, I am particularly sensitive to my Latino/Latina (Hispanic) patients, and their unique medical needs. In the most practical terms, I will be able to reach out to my Latino/a patients in their native language, and thereby increasing the accuracy of treatment, reducing error and increasing my patients sense of importance and relevance in their healing process. Chiropractic medicine would provide me with the balance between the holistic approach to the patient care, a complete understanding of the physiology and biomechanics of the body, and a constant observation
At that point, you’ve realized those edler men have been craving for someone to listen to the laments of their precious homeland. If you’re just there for the attractions, then maybe you should respectfully say your goodbyes and be on your way to the next place on the list. But if you’re really curious about what’s just below the surface, then you sit down on the cement benches in front of the fountain and listen.
The Bahamas is a very beautiful, and scary, place. The tourist sites aren't run down, the people there clean it. Something that is like the island is the cruise ship, in the sense that they are both very elegant. The people that lived there had a very laid back lifestyle that anyone would love. If I had a choice, I would live there.
Outside the window it is storming and raining . I can hear the storm outside it grows louder as I try to sleep, but also I kind of enjoy the sounds that nature is giving me.Suddenly I jerk myself awake and find that I am sweating and on the floor. I say outloud, “I wish i were somewhere nicer like Hawaii ”.
Even though I'm pretty cheap, I bought an expensive Patagonia lightweight jacket for a hiking trip in 2014. However, to offset the price I gratefully took advantage of a friend's kind offer of a 40% discount coupon. Score! Thank you very much, sweet friend.
My cultural ancestry comes from a Cuban and Mexican decent. I have chosen to write about my Cuban side because I can relate to them more than I could with my Mexican side. I was raised around my Cuban family and would occasionally see my Mexican side due to them living so far away. I have spent a lot more time associating with Cubans and have adapted to more of their habits.
Puerto Rico held many of my most cherished childhood memories. The 3 years my family spent there were some of the best years of my life. I remember the day we arrived there and settled into a hotel to live temporarily. I wasn’t sure why I couldn’t understand my favorite cartoons anymore. A man with a daughter my age took me to school during the first week and I couldn’t understand that man either. My parents explained to me that they spoke Spanish and soon enough in school, I was learning the language.
A topic that’s very controversial to me is poverty, seeing it first hand in my home country really changed the outlook I have on my life. It shaped my dreams into achieving more for myself, doing something outstanding. It has inspired me into pursuing a tougher career choice to be able to assist all my needs in the future.

Although Puerto Rico is not a foreign country, many Americans think it is and even the President seems of treating it like one. This is because, during the campaign trail, President Trump promised to put America first by slashing foreign aid and scaling back our international commitments. Meanwhile, many Americans think the US government wastes too many taxpayer dollars on aid. Americans believe this money could be invested in health and education in the United States rather than helping the foreign county. And since Puerto Rico is classified as a foreign county, helping has been limited.
Palm trees, a cloudless sky, and summery weather year round. This basically summarizes my first four years of life living in Puerto Rico. I loved it, going to the beach every day, whether August or December. Living there and being taken care of during the day by my one hundred Puerto Rican grandparents, Spanish was my first language. Of course, I learned English too and had them both down fluently enough to have the ability to use them interchangeably. Then came the move from Puerto Rico to North Jersey, one I was fully unaware and thought it was simply a visit, which I always thought was very cruel of my parents. I have moved a total of four times in my life, the total of houses is more, but four different towns. This one may have been the
People keep asking me what is that scared in my face and it was an interesting question so I told them it was when i was 4 years old at puerto rico and i just turn 4 and i got a new play car and. My gramma house and she have two dogs and one was a Chihuahua and a mexican bulldog and when I pet that bulldog I think it didn’t like me and 5 seconds later it bit me right face and the bit was close to my eye and the bit was hurting bad but it least it wasn't bleeding and that was my story the end.
Puerto Rico is now facing yet another challenge of bacterial contamination due to lack of clean water and resources. People are drinking contaminated water that has been exposed to toxic and human waste (A Look at the Heath Crisis in Pueto Rico after Hurricane Maria, 2017). People are not only at risk for contraction of bacteria by drinking contaminated water but also by standing or walking through contaminated flood water where the bacteria can penetrate through any open wound (A Look at the Heath Crisis in Pueto Rico after Hurricane Maria, 2017). People trying to return to what is left of their homes in Puerto Rico following hurricane Maria are not concerned about standing water which is a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos carrying
