The career field that I chose to go down in is human services. And this gets my attention because I want to go into psychology and in that field of work you deal with people that are experiencing a difficulty with something. Because if you help somebody you feel better about it. The work environment of a psychologist is usually just an office of some sort that is relaxing and nice so that the person they are working with feels comfortable. I can enter this career from getting a bachelor's degree and a lot of colleges do such as UNL.
I can expect the pay of an annual salary of about $72.580 or more, or make up to $35 an hour and for me I would be perfectly fine with that. The job outlook for being a psychologist is 19% for the next 10 years. I would like to find myself in California or Colorado with this career living a good life and in my own house by myself or with some roommates. Either way I can't care less I just want to get out there and out of Nebraska.

Also going into this career would help throughout life because you'll learn how people act and why they do. And I also want to go into this field because if I can help people everyday or try to help I would be fine with that, I like to help people to the best of my abilities. And psychology would be a good field for me to go into because almost everybody could use a psychology so I’ll be helping people and for me that would be awesome. Most people would rather not deal with people and I can understand why, people get annoying but if you deal with them everyday you learn how people act and why and that's amazing in my eyes.
I want to go out to California 1 because it's beautiful and 2 there is a bigger job outlook for psychology. The biggest outlook for psychology is in NYC but I don't want to live there, NYC is too packed and cramped, if I did move out that way though I would live on the outskirts of town and just drive into the city
have a lot of ambitions for myself, including going to a university and having a family. I dream of traveling the world and either volunteering, studying or working before settling down and starting a life. I have always seen myself working some sort of branch of psychology, such as therapy, counseling, or rehabilitation. I feel as though in whatever I do, I want to be a place of comfort and reliability; a safe haven for someone in
The career I choose is physical therapy. Physical therapists develop plans for the patient to follow and recover. They use exercises and stretching techniques to treat and prevent further injury of the patient ( “Summary”). I choose this career because I enjoy helping people get better. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties, for a particular career when making this decision.
Landrum, R. E., & Davis, S. F. (2014). The Psychology Major: Career Options and Strategies
Dear Miss. Barkley, sooner or later we all have to grow up and leave the nest. In 1 years time I will be in that exact position. By the time september of 2018 comes rolling around, I hope to be on my way to a university far, far, far away from Toronto. I'm not 100 percent sure what it is about Toronto, but I can't wait to leave it. I've never really been a city person, i've always prefered the more rural settings, where the biggest thing around is the Tim Hortons line and not a big mall filled with busy shoppers. Hopefully I will get into one of my top 3 choices of Universities, which are Lakehead, Trent, and Western. When i'm in university I am going to major in Psychology and minor in Public Relations. Ever since I fully understood the reality of growing up and getting a job, all I have wanted to do is help others, I mean even
I like to smile at strangers on the street or crack jokes to lighten the mood in an awkward situation, but I realize that sometimes people need more than that to make it through the day. This is why I want to pursue a career in psychological counseling. When I started interacting with a local psychological service, I knew I had picked the correct career path. I took an advanced placement course in psychology along with a suicide prevention workshop creating further interest in the topic. Additionally, I secured a full-time temporary job at the VA Medical Center, a primary mental health facility, which allowed me to become more experienced with people in need of psychological assistance. I plan to fulfill Master's and Doctorate level degrees in both Psychology (College of Arts and Sciences) and in Counseling (College of Education) at the University of
I chose to do this for the same reason others majoring in psychology do: we have a yearning to help and provide love and comfort to people. Our motives for doing this may come from different places but our goals are all relatively the same. We just want assist people. With the education I achieve, I want to be able to guide people from all walks of life through difficult times. I want to be able to help them get their life back together again and continue living instead of getting stuck in the past, or constantly worrying about the inevitable. My ultimate dream would be to get into a good grad school after finishing my undergraduate. Whether I choose to aim for a masters or a doctorate is still to be
“Few fields of study offer more career opportunities than does psychology” (Sternburg 3). There are a wide selection of specialties a person could go into with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In graduate school, which is a must to attend, there is the option to explore the different specialities or to go into the desired specialty without any research of the others. There are also many options within a specific specialty. There is the option to be a teacher, to work for various organizations, be a speaker, to have your own practice, and many others. In the psychology field these options can all be combined. In fact it is expected of psychologists to do more activities involving their specialty than solely sit in an office and listen to patients. There are two specialities that I am interested in however, over the years, these specialties have become very similar. Clinical and counseling psychology have evolved to become one in the same. Someone who specializes in clinical psychology are more
The field I have chosen to study in college is psychology. In particular, I wish to obtain a PhD in clinical psychology. For the most part, psychologists study how humans interact with others and the processes of the mind by analyzing and taking notes on the behavior of the client and how they interact with the world around them (“Psychologists”). I chose this career, because I’ve always loved listening to people and understanding why people do the things they do. Also, I’ve always had a strong desire to help others lead easier lives and give them the tools to deal with their personal problems and life. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
My interests in Clinical Psychology are aimed toward abnormal psychology and counseling. Psychotherapy comes with the job title of becoming a Clinical Psychologist, which I find the most interesting sector of this profession. While attending San Jose State University I have learned a lot about other careers other than Clinical Psychology, for example – becoming a social worker, human resource management, child psychologist and a probation officer. These are careers I also would consider doing after graduating college.
I want to major in social work to be a therapist. The idea of finding a career that would constantly be in demand of employees and secure so I wouldn't have worries of being unemployed, was in the back of my head when I set my plan for my life, early freshman year. Just like careers in the medical field, public services and so much more, a therapist is always going to be in high demand. Sadly unfortunate events are always going to occur causing kids and adults to seek help. No matter how long it takes me to obtain my degree this field is most likely always going to be in need of highly efficient trained employees. Physical, family, marriage and child abuse are just some of the many types of therapy people seek. I personally want to be a child sexual abuse therapist. I feel that sexual abuse is something that disgustingly won't be stopped anywhere in the future. Due to the fact that the world so poorly educates children and families about prevention and simply because there is always going to be corrupted people.
If I had to choose a type of mental health profession to focus on I would choose to become a therapist. I would focus on this profession due to the fact that I simply love to help people out, regardless of whom it is. For my subfield, I would like to specialize in developmental psychologist because they help people with emotional and social problems, for example, a teen going through the situation of their parent’s divorce. Because I enjoy helping people out, regardless of who the person is, developmental psychologist does exactly that. They work with different people no matter their age. I’d be able to work with children, teens, adults, and elderly people which I believe would be very interesting because I would be able to see the different
Picking a future occupation can be very difficult. There are many obstacles no matter what career you go into. Most people try to go into a field which makes them happy. The career of being a psychiatrist would take some time and mental energy.
Continuing, psychology is a growing field of interest for people and that explains why so many international students are coming to the United States to study it. One huge reason for international students to come to America to study psychology is the American Psychological Association. The APA opens up so many career opportunities for students in the United States because they recognize over 50 subdivisions of psychology, making career options immense for college students. A couple examples of this division include: neuropsychologists, social psychologists and industrial organizational psychologists. All of these careers stray away from the main stream counseling that is always automatically associated with psychology. The United States prides
I want to be a psychologist. I would love to learn all about the way people act, think and feel and at the same time try to help them. I have a very easygoing personality and I love to have fun and laugh. I ask a lot of questions, and I think I am very easy to get along with. Some career goals I have is to finish college, I would like to find a job I want to keep that I could make a career out of, and just take it one day at a time because I have desire to make the right decisions and live a pleasant life.
Many in the industry choose to work for themselves. In fact, the BLS reports approximately 35 percent of psychologists choose to open their own practice. In addition, once a person becomes established in the field, their schedule becomes more flexible. This allows them to spend more time doing things
