This week I have become even more comfortable working at the Capitol. I have also become busier since the staff has become more trusting of interns with daily tasks around the office. Specifically, this week I helped gather research for an individual that wanted more information about a certain topic and how certain constituents have responded to it. I can't describe the certain topic since I was told that the information could not leave the office. Anyways, I printed many sheets of papers that contained lots of information and compiled it in a stack to my sent out to the individual that wanted the information. Additionally, I also helped enter over 300 contacts into our database from neighborhood surveys done this year and last year. This was a lot of work since we had to put the answers to all the survey questions into categories that were simpler to comprehend and easier to enter into the system. …show more content…
By doing this, young adults are able to better understand themselves and truly discover their unique identities. A career is a very important part of someone's life, so by exploring various fields, individuals are better able to come closer to finding their passion or "dream" job. An internship can also build valuable connections that can be utilized later in life. This quote really spoke to me since it explicitly stressed that point of "taking on" an internship and how it can provide people with certain
The Apple iPhone did not make as big of a splash in Japan as Apple’s had hoped it would. The projection to sell a million iPhones in Japan unraveled and sales were very low. People of Japan were already aware of cell phones with a 3G network, which the faster network had been around for several years, much longer than the United States. A few problems that Japan had with the Apple iPhone were the touch screens, the iPhone were not as advanced as what they could already get in Japan, and the iPhone could not purchase train passes as the other phones did. “Emoji”, clip art that is used to create a more interesting and creative e-mail was also an application that Apple

While reading through your response on the readings assigned for week #2, I felt you did great at explaining the details and examples for the terms that were introduced in week two assignment. For instinct when you gave the example of Ariel Castro and how he was arrested for kidnapping 3 young women in Cleveland while trying to explain teleological being based upon ones goals and consequences. While Deontological theories being more duty based where it was based off of the action instead of the consequence. So it focus on the right or wrong of the action not the right and wrong of the consequences.
I believe that my product was a success and would make a difference in the cold weather in the winter. This product may be able to save lives or at least will save them from the cold. This problem relates to my problem statement because there are so many people out there that have no homes and if I could replicate my product a hundred times this problem would just about be fixed but I don't have enough money to do that.
Fear can be anything, fear of the dark, thieves, monsters, dogs, hight, being stuck in a place, snakes, deaths, anything. As long as it chases you in your deepest nightmares and make you wake up shaking and sweating terrified, but also relieved that is over. But all these fears have a reason. For example Salamanca's fear of a pregnant women, it's probably because her mother was expecting a baby but he died. The fear of elevators is because she lived in a farm and she is definitely not used to elevators. Sal is also terrified of car accident because that was the cause of her mother's death. Unlike many people Salamanca is not afraid of spiders, snakes and wasps, that is because she is a country
In this week’s reading assignment and discussion I learned about bone disorder and what causes it. The good news, in receiving this information is that treatments and medication are available for those suffering from bone disorder. One main point that stood out for me is that steps can be taken to prevent bone disorders. I learned that eating whole foods, fruits, and vegetables, exercising, drinking green tea, and drinking 8 glasses of water a day. Too, an increase of calcium, and having a bone density test taken. My response to my classmates an instructor was helpful, by retaining information and responding to my classmates and instructor by asking question about the various information that was posted in this week’s discussion.
What most surprised me this week was just how similar, by the 1980s, the Progressive-Conservatives and the Liberals when it came to government policy. It is also an interesting commentary on the historical narrative when comparing how Pierre Trudeau and Brian Mulroney in contemporary historiography.
There have been many things that I have learned this semester from knowing what type of graphic displays my data in the best way to how to calculate the location quotient. Probably what stuck the most was the difference between race and ethnicity and calculating projections. I was surprised how many times that topic came up after we learned that. I would explain the difference in my conversations and the majority of the people were surprised to find that there are only two ethnicities, which are Hispanic or Latino and Non-Hispanic or Latino. Now I know that the races are only white, Black or African American, Asian, American Indian and Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander. The only thing that I do not understand and probably
The teacher and the course assignment that has impacted me the most have both come from my Psychology 2301 class. My teacher’s name was Professor Dalmolin, and I completed my final honors project with her. She was so full of energy and loved to teach. Any question you had, she almost always had an answer, and if she didn’t, she would make sure we didn’t leave the classroom until she looked up the answer and got back to us. This is why I made sure to end my honors journey with her, and I am glad I did. My project was on emotional Intelligence and it involved a lot of medical research (in which I have no interest), and she was very helpful and even found articles on her own time that she thought would be beneficial to my project. Professors that
For confidentiality, I will use pseudonyms for the students I chose to profile. The first student I chose was Emma. When I began my field experience in February, Emma had just started third grade at Washington Elementary. She was from a well-educated family and was said to have been homeschooled. Emma was intriguing to me, because academically she was very behind and barely knew how to spell, use conventions and struggled to read and write. She was very sweet, but it was evident she was timid, which was probably due to being new as well as behind academically. The second student I chose is Connor. Connor was a very sweet student, but at times struggled in school. One of the main reasons why I chose Connor was because he reminded me of how my
How do you feel towards your body currently, on a scale of 1-10, with 1 feeling very negatively towards your body, 5 being neutral, and 10 feeling very positive about your body? Explain your numerical answer in a few sentences.
During the reading for part 2, I found the “duh” portion interesting and useful when used carefully. Arguing that the information is not new could help discredit your opposition, however, this tactic is useless when that is your only disagreement. Expressing that the information has been discovered before, when you agree with everything else the speaker says, seems like an unnecessary comment. Does the information being discovered before influence the authors information? The “twist it” section was incredibly helpful. By taking a piece of evidence that was used in your opponent’s argument and using it to support your argument helps validate your stance. It’s like using their weight against them.
After reading through the chapter on the DMIS stages (denial, defense, minimization, acceptance, adaptation, and integration), I would say that personally, I fall under the “acceptance” stage. “This stage represents an individual’s ability to recognize and appreciate cultural difference in terms of both people’s values and their behavior” (Cushner, McClelland, Safford, Pg. 152). As it states, the individual experiencing acceptance is “beginning to demonstrate the ability to interpret phenomena within a cultural context”, I believe that this is a fitting sentence for myself. Being that I am from a rural prairie town in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma, and the only people where I lived were other Senecas like my family and friends, I did not experience a cultural shock until I was in the sixth grade and had moved to Florida. In this town in Oklahoma, it was rare to even see someone described as “white”, as racial prejudice is still rampant throughout Oklahoma against Natives and basically, everybody who isn’t. I was taught to be accepting and welcoming throughout my life, and I believe that made the transition into a new cultural system much easier.

An internship can also heighten the awareness of community issues, motivates to create opportunities, embrace new ideas, and give direction to positive change. A successful internship can provide valuable information in making decisions about the direction of future studies or employment. An internship is an opportunity to not only use and develop industry-related knowledge and skills, but also to enhance some of the skills that are transferable to any professional work setting. For some people, the internship is the first introduction to the world of work. No matter where the skills and understanding of professionalism lie, internship is a chance to develop them even further.
