1. Are you a member of a student organization dedicated to the support and empowerment of a particular group, whether social, cultural, religious, or major-based (e.g. English or Business Honor Society)? If you aren’t, visit the PSU Abington website and look at the variety of organizations/clubs available -- speak with a friend who is an active member of such an organization or, if you don't have a friend in one of the organizations/clubs, interview the organization/clubs president.
After going on the PSU Abington website and looking at the variety of organizations/clubs available, I am truly astounded at the amount of options available for students to join seeing as this is only my second semester at PSU Abington. When looking though the groups on the PSU Abington website, there was one group that stood out to me more than other groups which is the organization called SHE CLUB. I use the word astounded due to the fact that I wasn’t expecting to see that kind of forward-thinking organization that is provided at PSU Abington but I couldn’t be happier that the organization exists. In addition, for some reason I did not expect PSU Abington to have such a vast amount of student organization due to the overall size of the campus but this has made me feel more comfortable and welcomed as a student now at PSU Abington. As a result, I am most defiantly going to start getting more into PSU Abington student organizations now.

If you are a member (or spoke to someone who is a member), why does the organizations exist. In other words, what are the conditions, within the university or beyond that encouraged the group to
While L, Patton; B, Bridges; L, Flowers’s 2011 article EFFECTS OF GREEK AFFILIATION ON AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS' ENGAGEMENT, discusses that African American organizations presence on campus. Have exposed great leadership, entrepreneurship, encouraged academic achievement and promoted community service. The organizations, believe that if their
In the beginning of senior year, I joined one of the largest and most diverse club in the engineering department, Society of Women
Having the opportunity to join RWU Women's Cross Country Team is one of my dreams as a college student. Being a captain and one of the top runners in high school, I look forward expectantly to become a member of the team. I believe my determination and my competitiveness will bring a lot to RWU. Being an RW honors student and an athlete at the same time is what makes an amazing university. With many clubs and organizations to choose from, I know I will never be bored on campus. The Outing Club, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and the Society of Women Engineers are just three of the many clubs I would like to join as soon as I step foot on
To start this organization, we will recruit interested students, choose student officers, check if Rutgers is an AAUW member, pick a faculty or staff advisor, and then finally register with AAUW. The American Association of University Women will help fund projects and encourage women to do the very best they can. Some of their benefits include inviting students to leadership conferences, electing them to become a board of AAUW, and even providing their students with
I am interested in the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. at Cheyney University. Being a lifetime member of the first sorority for African-American women has sparked my interest since childhood. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority means to me services provided by now all ethnicities for women to impact the community in a positive manner. The services since the beginning in 1908 have been immaculate. Many AKA’s were helping during the Great Depression, Civil Rights Movement, and today are helping with Black Lives Matter. Being a potential member of this prestigious organization for a lifetime I believe will be able to make a difference on Cheyney University campus and surrounding areas.
The clubs I’m part of at Marist are the Marist College Computer Society; the Purplethread; Lesbian, Gay, Straight Alliance (LGSA); and Campus Ministry, in which I do weekly Community Service. If you want me to include more information on the clubs, tell me so I can them in.
Greek Organizations have been an influence of college life for many years. Typically there are two sections of the Greek System, social organizations and the profession organizations. Along with the parties and alcohol that is associated with Greek Organizations, they do many other more positive things. They participate in charity events, community service, and volunteering for needy people. Alongside the positives of Greek Organizations, there is always a downfall. For instance, dues and fees are required which is typically a lot of money out of your college student bank account. There are many things that take place in a fraternity or sorority that people don’t consider when they are eager to join. You are required to follow many steps in the process of being accepted into an organization. To start, you
I am involved in two clubs at Hopkins High School. I am proud to say that I'm part of the We Serve HHS and HHS Responds clubs. We Serve HHS focuses on serving the community through volunteer. We organized the food drive that recently occurred in October to donate to ICA. Currently, we are looking into collaborating with Mr. Allan Law to provide food for homeless people in the Minneapolis area. HHS Responds is a representation of the diversity in our school. It encourages and promotes diversity in Hopkins. That club brought the gender neutral bathrooms into our school and we are currently working on celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. We have discussions regarding politics, race, religion, gender, and many other current topics that affect students
To start off, organizations outside of the divine nine usually don’t have alumni chapters. The general mission is lifetime commitment, regardless what organization within the divine nine. Membership in sororities and fraternities of the divine nine doesn’t end once you graduate and receive your undergraduate degree. Alumni chapters represent members who have graduated, who are beginning, in the midst of, changing, or even ending within their professional career(s) (2017, Divine Nine Lover). Most alumni organizations are business oriented and one can learn a lot from the way information is presented, handled, and discussed. They continue to serve the surrounding communities via fundraisers,
As a freshman at UNCW, I was starting out in a new place for the very first time, away from my friends and family. So many different thoughts were running through my mind like “How do I make friends.” Maybe I could join different clubs and organizations around campus. I found myself wanting sign up for sorority recruitment, to see what Greek life was about here at UNCW.
Alabama A&M University has numerous student organizations to get involved in. They have cultural, Greek, academic, and etc organizations that you can join. Two of those organizations have caught my eye so far. I want to join Pep Squad, Chemistry Club, Southern Belles and PAC.
Dedicated student organizations, similar to Women’s groups were developed to advocate for the the needs of these populations and voicing their opinions and concerns.
1 I have never heard of the college of universities student interest groups. The Strategies that the National Organization of Collegiate American Students interest group might consider is to create events during recruitment and fairs to raise money for interest groups. Also when it comes to a strategy, registering for an interest group is not a hard challenge but one of the things that would be a definite consideration is the process on how to become a member of the interest
I am in my school’s Student Council, which I am currently acting as the President. It has a lot of work in it, as much as my school work, but I stay in it because I enjoy doing it. My goal as President this year is to run the Council as efficiently and effectively as possible and create robust communication from the Council to the administration to voice the student body’s wishes, and wish to continue in the future. Because of this, I would like to get involved with student representation on campus to develop my leadership and responsibility skills even more. Getting involved with the student population would further my understanding of unique individuals and how people define themselves, as UPenn is a melting pot of different cultures and diversity. This would help me develop the communicative skills needed in order to participate in team
Joining a secret organization in college is essential to succeed in college because once you graduate, those organizations will use their influential power and wealth to promote you into the workplace. It is all about who you know and what they can do for you. If I was a member of a secret organization, I would ask my sisters to help me get a nursing position at a high profile hospital. Once I was working, in return, I would help other sisters get jobs within the hospital, I now work. As the old saying goes, “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours”.
