Pangaea Existence Proven Have you ever heard of Pangaea? Do you think it is real? Do you need someone to prove it for you? Well,I am here to prove Pangaea’s existence to you. To begin with, you need to know what Pangaea is. Pangaea was thought of in the year of 1912. This theory was called Continental Drift and was proposed by Alfred Wegener.Pangaea was thought to be a Super Continent. When Alfred Wegener proposed this theory no one really believed him because he did not have much proof. This proof brings me into my topic “Pangaea Existence Proven”. To start off with fossils that were from, for example,Europe were found in, for example, North America. This is a good reason because i do not think
In 1596- Abraham Ortelius took note that the coastlines of the continents seemed to be too fitting together. He initiated a theory that stated that the continents were probably joined at one point in time and were torn apart between Europe and Africa. In the year of 1912, Alfred Wegener stated that the continents were once joined in a supercontinent called Pangea.
2. The theory of “Pangaea” exists suggesting that the continents were once nestled together into one mega-continent. The continents then spread out as drifting islands.
Who proposed that all of the present continents were once joined together in a single supercontinent called Pangaea?
Because of Pangia humans ended upon 2 continents, Pangia was 1 big super continent. Why they went here is because their food was on those two continents. The original humans food was on Africa and Asia while tetonic plates were moving faster.
According to the theory of “Pangaea,” the world was once a single mega-continent that contained all the dry land about 225 million years ago. North America was shaped by the majestic Canadian Shield about 10 million years ago.
About 225 million years, all of the world’s land was contained in one supercontinent, named Pangea. This supercontinent would eventually separate itself into the continents that are known today, due to continuous movement of the earth’s tectonic plates, which led to major shifting and folding of the earth’s crust. This shifting formed many of the mountain ranges that exist today, such as the Appalachians and the Rocky Mountains. However, the time of Pangea’s separation into multiple continents and the time of the formation of the mountain ranges aren’t synonymous; for instance, the Appalachians were most likely formed before Pangea’s separation. About some 2 million years ago, a Great Ice Age befell the earth, which caused a
As we all know, the founder of the North America and South America is a voyager whose name is Christopher Columbus. After having read the story of the famous merchant-Marco Polo, he became to looking forward to the land of wealthy and mystery-China. He believed that the earth is round so he decided to sailed west from Europe, then he would reach the Asia. But he didn’t land on the land of the China, he found the new land instead. After he found the America, there are lots of common on his discovery. Then they divided to the different opinion, the positive and the negative.
The reason why humans are not from the americas because they are from Beringia because they did not even know that the americas were here. Also periodically they migrated from Africa then to the americas.
Pannotia was short lived for a supercontinent as the collisions that formed it were glancing and hence not so binding as they were for Rodinia. It lasted a mere 60 million years.
If a modern Pangea were to happen, the world would be different and it would affect many interactions. Objects in the world would be displaced. Other factors that might change may be the government, economies, societies and immigration. The relations between countries and continents would change as well. If all the continents were to collide into one supercontinent, things would have to change. These changes would be both positive and negative. Modern Pangea would be a very different place than it is today due to animals, transportation, and daily life.
The earth is constantly changing and moving. That is why I believe in 1 million years that South America and Africa will be far, far apart. I know this because of plate movement. In the Geochronology map it shows that when plates spread a part which is a divergent boundary, then as magma heats and cools, new sea floor is created and the old sea is pushed out with the continents. This shows that the plates will keep spreading and causing the new ocean floor to be their and the more the plates spread the more the continents spread then eventually they hit each other forming like another Pangea. Also in the Georgrapy map their is a mid-ocean
who had traveled to America during the last ice age using the broad landmass, Beringia which connected North America and Asia. To solve this mystery, anthropologists came up with different theories to try and explain the differences in physical features. It is the discovery of Naia, a 12,000 to 13,000 year-old skeleton that helps them to make the connection.
The theory of Pangaea suggests that the continents were once stuck together into one huge continent. Eventually they started drifting into separated landmasses, which gave birth to the modern continents.
Have you ever thought of the idea that the continents were once connected? Scientists believe that around 300 million years ago the seven continents we know today were once connected to each other to form one massive continent called Pangea. There is a lot of evidence that supports this idea. First of all, some continents have coastlines that would fit together like puzzle pieces. Secondly, there have been almost identical fossils found on different continents separated by miles of ocean. Lastly, similar glacier deposits are on four different continents.
For over a century, paleontologists have been collecting abundant dinosaur fossils from the Western Interior of North America, with many of these fossils found in rocks dating back to the final stages of the Cretaceous Period. Only recently, however, have we learned that most of these dinosaurs existed on a “lost continent” today referred to as ‘Laramidia”. (Switek, 2010)
