A. Globalization is a major factor that influenced economics not only within the U.S. but other countries around the world. It has both pros and cons associated with it. Initially it affected the Americans in a negative way after 30 million Americans lost their jobs to outsourcing. It affected the lower and middle classes regarding financial stability, health care, affordability of higher education, and being able to provide basic needs. We are failing our own society if we cannot help our people afford the basic necessities of life. It is disheartening to read about Company CEOs personally increasing their own pay with a ratio of $525 to every $1 for workers. It has created jobs for people who struggled for basic needs like food, shelter, and water. Those poorer countries were now able to begin building themselves up. I suppose this is a good thing, although there are additional negatives. Going back to the American economy. The number of jobs continues to be outsourced and we recognize that our society struggling to make ends meet. It shows in several aspects such as education, health care, and employment. Globalization has affected the upper class substantially as they continued to become wealthier. They were able to provide better futures for their next generation. The lower and middle class were the ones facing struggles. The jobs that are available today are low paying service jobs which offer little to no benefits. It is saddening that college degrees carry a lesser value than in the previous decades. The lower-middle class have little to no ability to reach a higher economic class level. I believe the upper class intentionally prevent lower-class achievement on a continuous basis. Keeping people trapped in a lower class allows them to be easier controlled. Politics have a considerable amount of influence on social change. For example, currently the 2016 Presidential Candidates such as Donald Trump have made comments involving international trade agreements. Trump claims to have a strategy to increase jobs in the U.S. in order to improve our economy and self-reliance. He has made threats that he would affect major companies by changing the benefits of the North American Free Trade Agreement in order to keep production within the U.S. Trump has suggested increasing taxes to 35 percent on every single item that crossed U.S. borders. This will cause major issues between with Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, as well as other countries. The political parties that are gaining support of the American people has continued to shift over the course of the years. Currently there are 17 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and 1 Third-Party Candidate running for the 2016 Presidency. In the past new voters were likely to vote as their family did. This began changing as an increase of the younger generation are becoming interested in the elections. Typically the Democratic Party is the favorable and higher voted within the U.S. However, this campaign shows different results early on with the Republic Party is being in the lead. I believe this is largely due to the outspoken Trump and campaigning style that has never been displayed in past election campaigns. I often wonder how long Trump will continue to lead in the polls.
