The real inconvenient truth is this: people do not cause global warming. The Earth is naturally warming itself, and this is sending humankind into a panic. Even if people were causing global warming, there are many more advantages to the warming climate than disadvantages. Why scientists are taking this issue and blowing it out of proportions is baffling. There are many different ways to look at the argument, and few turn to actual science. The Earth may be warming, but this natural phenomenon may not be as catastrophic as widely believed.
The Earth itself, as well as the Sun, is going through a natural cycle. It is easy to blame the warming Earth on the human output of carbon dioxide because it is a much simpler cause and effect. From 1300 to 1800, the planet went through something called a Little Ice Age. It began warming back up before we started increasing carbon dioxide emissions. So, “trying to prove man made global warming by comparing the fact that it is warmer today than the Little Ice Age is like comparing summer to winter to show catastrophic temperature change” (“Is”). The Earth is just trying to catch back up from that period of cold. The planet went through another temperature shift around 1940, “just as CO2 emissions rose sharply, global temp[erature] began a decline that lasted until the 1970’s, prompting media and scientists to fear a coming ice age” (“Is”). If human emission was the cause, there would not be proof of the opposite. According to doomsday
Teacher and student access to websites, blogs, and Google Classroom will continue to increase communication between parents and the school. Formative assessment tools can also support parent involvement by connecting parents to student data. Learning platforms like Google Classroom will allow learning to move beyond the school walls, allowing teacher/student communication after school, on weekends, and during school breaks
The demanding power of ambition is noted through Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth. Within this play, ambition is portrayed as a corrupting and unquenchable force through the main concepts of mental imbalance, supernatural behaviours and betrayal. The all-consuming desires of Macbeth and their repercussions are vividly enhanced through the use of various expressive literary techniques. Within the play, there are countless references of the supernatural, which often transpired to tragedies. An example such supernatural ambition occurs between the witches; “Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” (Act 1, Scene 1, pg 29). This quote from the opening scene reverses the syntactic structure and symbolizes a reversal in the logical order of the play as well as
In fact, the biggest climate change that’s ever happened on Earth went perfectly along with the Earth’s natural climate cycle (Tesla). The Earth’s climate always takes its cycle, and this warming is it doing just that. It has also been said that rising CO2 levels go along with temperature, not the other way around. It’s been proven that when the temperature rises, CO2 does, but only after the temperature rises (GeoCraft). This is another reason why global warming is a
Climatologist Tim Ball argues this point in his article, The Science Isn’t Settles – The Limitations of Global Climate Models. Dr. Ball looks at the data of global temperatures and concludes that the earth’s atmosphere is actually cooling while in its cooling cycle, which is the complete opposite to the assumption that the atmosphere is heating up. In 1999 a petition was asked the U.S. Government to reject the environment treaty The Kyoto Protocol, which was signed by over 17,000 other scientists sharing the same views. These scientists view that there is no convincing scientific evidence around the idea of global warming and all of these conclusions are not justified. They believe that the human release of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses are not contributing to global warming and the climate change, instead the increase of CO2 is promoting plant and animal growth. Some other scientists argue that global warming is being blown way out of portion and its effects are so small we will not notice its effects. They believe this increasing in extensive publicity is an environmentalist scam for more recognition, power, and
Environmentalists believe that climate change is a significant issue that the government needs to work on it. Scientists have explained that many events including drought, flooding, severe weather, rising sea levels, acidifying rains, and wildfires have affected people’s lives and the planet due to climate change. Climate change is caused by increasing heat in the atmosphere. The consumption of fossil fuels and other emissions are trapping carbon dioxide in the air, which increases the temperature and the more carbon dioxide humans produce the more the environment rises in temperature (Meyer, 2017). The hotter temperature affects environment, economy, health, and security. For example, people who live near coal mines are at higher risk to get asthma than other places, or fishermen suffer from ocean acidification because their income is heavily relying on fishing (Frank, 2012). These two examples indicate that climate change is threatening the environment and can create disruptions.
However, it is the argument that is against human activity being the primary cause of global warming that provides a superior explanation to this currently unknown global phenomena we call global warming. Despite the overbearing support against this argument, there is too much factual evidence about the complexity of the atmosphere and all of its elements that outweigh the predictions being made and then amplified significantly. Using supporting facts leads to a superior argument than using mathematic estimations, which consistently fail to meet their expected results. The changes in climate, including temperature change and rising sea levels, have all been happening for thousands of years providing historical evidence to show this change in climate as a natural occurrence. The most critical aspect of the argument is that rising levels of atmospheric CO2 do not necessarily cause global warming, which contradicts the core thesis of human-caused climate change as stated in a publication made on ProCon.org where the director of Greenpeace International Patrick Moore spoke on the relationship between the CO2 emissions from human activity and global temperature. He states that "there is some correlation, but little evidence, to support a direct causal relationship between CO2 and global temperature through the millennia” (ProCon.org). It is important to acknowledge that regardless what the actual
Alleged Global Warming has been a hot topic and been widely reported in the American media since the 1970s. In March 2014, TED, a nonprofit committed to expanding ideas with short talks, gave a powerful presentation of the alleged current consequences of Global Warming in Gavin Schmidt’s (2014) talk: The emergent patterns of climate change. His claims are stark and he implores his audience to take the grave predictions of Global Warming seriously and not just write it off as insignificant. While Google Trends (2014) shows (graph 1) that search terms for global warming in the United States (red) have decreased while worldwide (blue) interest (image 1) fluctuates with India showing the most curiosity. Yet, not everyone agrees that Global
Have you heard what is happening to the environment? Like how Greenland loses is 286 Gigatonnes of ice per year! And as of January 22, 2017, it has lost 3778.7 Gigatonnes since 2002! Why you ask? It’s due to Climate change. Climate change is a serious problem in our world, It can either end it or make it prosper that is why I chose to research it. Climate change won’t just effect on a country or continent, it will affect the whole world, and we are a part of that world. So, I decided to research it to see what we as humanity can do about climate change. To help I asked myself more questions such as “What will happen if we don’t intervene?”, “What is the source of the problem?”, “What are our choices as humanity?” After my research, I believe that there is a way to stop climate change and to do that we as humanity need to work together.
People have claimed that the earth is going through a natural phase and in part that is true, but we also have to look at the evidence that we have sped it up and made the Carbon Dioxide levels rise that much more and faster. To look at these changes scientists have sent out satellites to measure the fluctuations in the sun’s energy. The historical record shows that the climate system varies naturally over a wide range of time scales. These variations have been small in comparison to human influences in the past several centuries. This means that the humans, since the industrial age, have produced six billion tons of carbon dioxide from the factories that have been built. The main component that was burnt was coal which was one of the main sources of energy.
Thank you for your post. I agree that the topic is broad; but you hit the mark when the nurses must take control of his practice in the daily basis. I feel the same way about the extensive work of nursing. You were right to say that one has to have the right mind-set and solid composure to meet the day in nursing. One of our theories mentioned that the more one knows himself, the more he’s capable of caring for the patient. I believe this is true, because it is a selfless, serving task the minute you take the patient assignment. Fortunately, nursing is also a very rewarding job and it happens in the environment when nurses have the autonomy of their practice and the effective team support of nurses. I remember during my early years
Climate change is the term used to describe the warming of the average surface temperature on earth. Climate change; often referred to as the general term global warming, is a topic that often inspires fierce debate among those on both sides of the issue. One thing those who are pro and those that are con both agree on is that the temperature on earth has increased over the past century by an average of 1.4 degrees. The big debate on the two sides is if the warming temperatures are caused by human activities and if it is not stopped it will have dire consequences (the pro side) or if it is the result of natural causes and the earth’s surface will find ways to adapt such as crops becoming more heat resistant (the con side).
Climate change is a subject that has sparked much debate in recent years, but for those who have come to the realization that this is truth know that the effects on our planet can lead to much devastation. However, in Iceland researchers have uncovered a method that could help slow down, if not turn around climate change by turning the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, into rock deep underground. Results from their research show that injecting the gas into volcanic rock leads to a new carbonate material, and this has the potential of locking up that gas forever.
According to a recent study, humans having been causing global warming for about 180 years. The study reconstructed 500 years of climate to determine when the warming shift started. They found that the earliest stages of human-caused greenhouse warming began in the Industrial Revolution, mainly around the 1830s in the Arctic and tropical oceans, followed by change in North America, Europe, and Asia. At this time in human history, we has started burning fossil fuels like coal. This was used to power factory machines, and steam engines used in trains and steamboats. Fossil fuels originate from the remains of ancient plants and animals, and when burned, release carbon-dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the
Researches reveal that natural events as well as human related activities contribute to changes in average global temperatures. AtKisson affirms that global warming is basically a result of increased emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This atmospheric carbon dioxide (co2) comes from anthropogenic (caused by humans) sources. The concentration of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, nitrous gases, and methane in the atmosphere has increased evidently due to human activities since 1800. NASA’s article adds:
Climate change has been a highly discussed issue for the past couple years, especially now that the signs of climate change are becoming more visible. The change in Earth’s climate began in the 19th century when ice ages and other natural changes were first identified. The idea of the “greenhouse effect” was also introduced at this time. In simple terms, the greenhouse effect refers to the increase in earth’s temperature due to the radiation absorbed and re-emitted by greenhouse gas molecules, such as Carbon Dioxide. The re-emission by these gas molecules is what causes the planet to warm up, or otherwise known as global warming. Scientists pointed out this warming effect of carbon dioxide in the late 1960’s, though some still questioned this theory at that time. About 10 years later, the warming effect became clearer and more scientists started to support the greenhouse effect theory. By the 1990s, there was a clear statement made that not only were greenhouse gases responsible for climate change, but the contribution of human emissions of these greenhouse gases was increasing, and global warming was starting to become a severe issue. On NASA’s climate change website, they present a graph showing the carbon dioxide levels (parts per million) dating back 650,000 years. Until about 1950, the levels of this greenhouse gases were quite stable, hitting a low of about 180 ppm. But a huge spike between 1950 and 2014 took place, putting the carbon dioxide levels at 400 ppm in
