In this case assignment I am to research a natural disaster, discuss if the local government has made disaster recovery plans and whether or how the plan has been executed. Whether the plan was effective, and how it can be improved. I am also to describe the natural disaster, when, where, how, and what happened. Before we can understand the what, we need to make sure we understand the why and how. We will first discuss the disaster recovery plan, what is it?.
Disaster recovery plan defines how an organization will deal with a possible disasters whether is natural or man-made. A disaster is just an event that makes the business process of normal functions impossible or challenging. A disaster recovery plan comprises of the protections taken so that the effects of a disaster will be mitigated and the organization will be able to continue or rapidly resume their normal operation roles. Normally, disaster recovery planning includes an analysis or risk assessment of the organizations processes and stability needs; it may also consist a major focus on disaster prevention. Disaster recovery plan in the United States usually has been controlled by State and local governments, with the Federal government as a supporting role. While we remain truthful to the basic constitutional principle, we must also accept that events such as hurricane Katrina and the terrorist attacks of 9/11, require the government, both local and State to tailor the application of these principles to the

However, this essay will aim at interviewing one of the top disaster preparedness staffat the Houston Methodist Hospital. In the interview, I will seek to identify the top three disasters that the Houston Methodist Hospital is prepared for. Similarly, in the interview, I would seek to identify the top lessons learnt from disaster preparedness at the hospitals.As it concludes it would summarize the findings with regards to the interview stated below. A disaster recovery plan also known as a contingency plan is a plan created to be able to deal with future threats to the business. Such threats make it difficult for the organisation to function correctly which is why the contingency plan consists of a set of precautions that will either minimise or contain the situation, usually the business plan isn not completely fool proof and still has risks that can not be terminated which is why the recovery plan contains a breakdown of the procedure of the business where each segment of the process has a contingency of its own to counter the cons of it.
Disaster recovery is the process of an organisation uses to recover access the data, and also hardware that are needed to recollect the performance to be in normal position after a disaster occurs. While disaster recovery plans have to be focus in every aspect in any organisation and bringing the gap closure after destruction it can be like data, hardware, or software have been lost and the manpower that composes much of any organisation.
Tragic events that cause damage to property and life may destroy the social, cultural and economic life of a community. Communities must be engaged in the various phases from prevention to recovery to build disaster resilient communities. In order to do this, there must be a disaster preparedness plan in place that involves multiple people in various roles.
