With Hillary Clinton’s recent self-proclamation of “securing” the Democratic nomination, along with the heated 2016 presidential election, has come an Independent, Progressive political movement, with citizens calling for action against a system widely believed to have failed them.
“It’s time to finally have a vibrant, exciting, VIABLE third party in this country, a place where many of us who feel disenfranchised; Progressives, Greens, Democratic Socialists, Independents, and frustrated Democrats and Republicans alike, can feel empowered in the promise of democracy in our country,” says Araquel Bloss, founder of the Progressive Independent Party.
The Party began simply as an online petition written by Ms. Bloss, which quickly went viral after co-founder Steve Poikonen wrote an article and published it on The Morning Nightcap. Mr. Poikonen states, “Her vision was simple, eloquent, and absolutely right the hell on time: Let’s build a coalition of Democrats and Progressives who feel their party has left them in the wilderness. Let’s bring in the Green Party folks who have worked so hard for so long only to find themselves locked out of the national conversation. Let’s bring in Independents who

Bernie Sanders said our ‘struggle continues,’ and it indeed does. We must continue to stand strong in our convictions, help our friends and neighbors stay strong, because the quickest way for this battle to be lost is if we believe it when they tell us it’s over. It’s not over,” continues Ms. Bloss. “We will continue to ask Progressives of all parties and left-leaning Independents to unite with the Progressive Independent Party to build the largest Progressive voting bloc in history. Not only is this not over, the political revolution started by Bernie Sanders is only just begun. Join
The Democratic party, the far-left of the two major political parties in the United States, is currently the oldest voter-based party in the entire world. Enduring through multiple major wars and even the American Civil War, the party has been one of the two dominant parties in America since its founding nearly two centuries ago. Because of its long, varied history, the political makeup of the party has changed to hold both progressive views and conservative views on almost any issue at some point during its life.
The Western Independence Party made it very evident that they believed Eastern Canada was draining and stealing our resources and profits. This particular party disagrees with the concept of equalization payments. When “disunited states of Canada” was filmed in 2013, the economy was booming in Alberta. As a result of this economic growth, some Albertans felt that the equalization payments were stealing from our province and giving it to the East. A question I would ask them would be their point of view on equalization payments now that we are in an economic crisis as it was in 2013.
There were many political disputes that happened in the United States. Many people were fighting over which party they should go to or which one was better. They had the Republicans and the Federalists who wanted to sway the vote to their side. They opposed each other and disputed against each other. This caused many conflicts in the United States.
Political parties developed in the United States because all Americans wanted the United States to succeed and to grow to be a strong, prosperous nation. While this was happening there were disagreements about the best way to make this happen. I’ve gathered information from 8 documents to tell you about these disagreements. In document 1, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were going through many disagreements because Hamilton wanted to develop good relations with Britain and Jefferson supported strong ties with France.
Comparing my issues to the original of the Democratic Party Platform, mine will contain less vigorous action from the government and more from the people. Although our ideas are similar, they do tend to align most of the time correctly. We both believe it is a mother’s decision if she wishes to abort a child or not. We as a nation should encourage workers to maintain their jobs as long as possible, making it easier for the company plus the family. Now moving on, I believe my ideas diverge from the Democratic Party in a sense, that we each want things done a different way. My thoughts for the district have more to do with critical thinking rather than just thinking about profit. The Democratic Party believes in rule and law, and I just feel
Quite often, people are eager to proclaim whether they are a democrat or a republican, yet many of these people use these political terms because they have been told to, rather than actually resonating with the beliefs of said political party. Preferably, voters should research issues most important to them and figure out their own stances, then commit to the political party with the most similar viewpoint by examining the party’s platform from a reliable source. Political parties are voluntary, organized groups of people with similar political aims and opinions who work to influence public policy through their candidate running and hopefully being elected to public office. The Democratic Party was founded in 1828 and is known for their support
For Instance Labour party politician Denis Healey offered the opinion that was ‘selling politics like soap powder’ (Healey D, 2015) from this we can establish that he criticised the illustration as being deceiving and the Conservative party for publishing an untrue story. He later called the party's campaign a ‘fraud’ after discovering the image of people queuing was, in fact, an imitation of no social security and were, in fact, young representatives of the conservatives party.
Australia’s oldest political party is the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Their history associates with the history of Australia’s democracy and labor movement. The largest trade boom in the history of the period of economic transition is Australia. The core Labor morals of opportunity and fairness. The core Labor has never been more pleased to establish the foster economic growth. The government has demolished the morals and economic growth. The Australian economy leads Labor through a time of significant global ambiguity, the Global Financial Crisis (GFC). The action Labor took with a broad-scale economic packages the economy did not stall because Australians faired exceptional than the highest in the world during the GFC. More than 200,000
According to a 2015 study by the Pew Research Center, 81% of Americans have distrust for the government, 74% believe elected officials put their own interests first, and 65% harbor distrust for Republicans and Democrats. (Fingerhut). In spite of these numbers, main party candidates continue to be elected into office. Americans cannot vote third party for fear of a wasted vote, or literally cannot vote third party due to the historically unfair standards third parties must meet to gain ballot access. There currently are third parties in the US but with the US’s system of voting, no third party can rise to the same level of the Democrats or Republicans. Historically, the US has had several third parties run successful campaigns, but in modern
Oh, Jeremy... I would never vote against my Party's manifesto. I supported it, I campaigned for it! That is a fact. Are you really suggesting that every MP, and I challenge you to test it out, who comes here will read his party's manifesto word by word in front of the television and agree with every single tiny little word? That's
” The inspirations behind the meeting came from Alan Philbrook and John Rensenbrink. With the intention of making the Green Party an official political party, 62 activists attended “The Founding Conference of a National Green Politics Organization”, which occurred on August 10 - 12, 1984, in Macalester College, St. Paul, MN (John Rensenbrink, 2017). This conference manly held discussions about forming local “Green groups” and working towards forming a Green political organization, which would also include the formation of an” interim Inter-Regional Committee.” (Wikipedia,
Over the course of approximately 4 weeks, the discussion section I was a part of created a political party that would be our entry into the POLS 150 government simulation. Our party had a moderate ideology, which we believed would be best in order to give everyone comfort with things we did. This ended up being the what nearly all of the other parties did with the exception of one or two who chose to be center-left. We agreed upon votes being SMD with proportional representation as it seemed like the best option. We had a president and a prime minister along with a parliament. The president had a term limit of 5 years with 2 consecutive terms and the prime minister along with parliament members had 3 year terms. Our government would be a federal
The 2016 Presidential Election is one of the most interesting elections ever. The Republican Party, also known as the GOP is only one of the two major political parties. The other party is the Democratic Party.
The Centre Party, or Zentrum (Z), existed in Weimar Republic as one of the primary parties in the Reichstag for over sixty years. From when it was founded, in 1870, to its demise at the hands of Hitler, in 1933, Z held a strong moderate front, while devoting its full resources to protecting the rights of Germany’s Catholic population. The formation of the Centre Party stemmed from the German chancellor Bismarck's Kulturkampf, or campaign to extirpate Catholic influence from German politics and society. This Kulturkampf resulted in many Germans Catholics, who constituted 34% of the country, committing to Z. Z maintained this support of Catholic, and religious, rights as their forefront issue up until Hitler dissolved the party when he achieved
Although there were several different topics that caught my eye, I found the different views from each political party most appealing. Politics are most interesting when you truly comprehend each organization beliefs on the different views of the government. Within each organization and or political party their beliefs are simply what their views are in making our government better for our country. Throughout the history of the United States we have had two political parties that has dominated, but a total of six different political parties since 1789. The changed from six political parties to two parties occurred due to the plurality system. This system is basically the winner takes all in which favors only two stable parties in the U.S. Throughout
