The Democratic party, the far-left of the two major political parties in the United States, is currently the oldest voter-based party in the entire world. Enduring through multiple major wars and even the American Civil War, the party has been one of the two dominant parties in America since its founding nearly two centuries ago. Because of its long, varied history, the political makeup of the party has changed to hold both progressive views and conservative views on almost any issue at some point during its life.

A prime example of this is the party’s strong support of abortion. Without the basis that all life has value because it is created by God, the liberal view struggles to find value in the life of the unborn child. The legitimacy of homosexual relationships and other points of LGBT interest also differ greatly from the word of God. Throughout the Bible, it is evident contradiction to God’s plan of traditional marriage and natural bodily function is considered a sin. The rejection of God has also influenced the party on a global scale. Left-leaning citizens who do not believe in God often look to the government as their source of prosperity and sustenance. As a result, the ultimate goal of liberalism is a globalist utopia with complete tolerance and peace between all nations. However, the Bible states that man is fallen, so with flawed leadership and flawed citizens, a utopia could not exist.
Despite the now progressive, liberal beliefs the party now holds, the Democratic party has possessed opposite opinions on almost every issue since its creation. This remarkable fact not only displays the rapidly changing world of politics, but also reflects the fluid nature of the stances Democrats have taken throughout the party’s
The Democratic Party began with the election of Andrew Jackson as our 7th president in 1828. Jacksonian Democracy changed politics in America and led to the modern day Democratic Party. Jackson’s Democratic Party had 3 man principles. First, it was a party that represented the working class, the laborers and farmers of America. Second, the party opposed the economically elite or wealthy class. Third, the party pushed for westward expansion to give Americans new land. During Jackson’s administration, he had some accomplishments. He brought more rights to the Common Man allowing those without property to vote. He handled the conflict over the Tariff of Abomination by using compromise to lower the tariffs. These tariffs on foreign Goods helped
For starters the Democratic Party supports gay marriage, abortions and supports the rights of gun ownership. They also agree to have higher tax rates and not many laws. With that said, there are many negative features that come with those privileges. For instance this party is basically showing that they are people pleasers, they do what the people want and don’t enforce their own strict
The Democratic Party of the 1800's believed in limited government and dreamed about an agrarian country. They believed freedom was about having control of their own lives, and not having the government interfere with their lives. Many saw it as the party of the working man. Jacksonian Democrats largely controlled the presidency years prior to Civil War. With a few losses to Whigs in the elections of the 1840's. These Democrats wanted further limitations of federal power, promoted state power, saw themselves as the party of the common man. This was appealing to the hard working man who wanted to find success in America. The party despised privilege and aristocratic behavior. They were against the banking industry and Northern industrialists.
In the past, the Democratic party was known as the conservative, traditional party that fully supported state government while the Republican party was a supporter of the federal government control. The Republican party began as “Lincoln’s party” which caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic party was predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views, they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties have changed their platforms based on the issues of desegregation, racism in the South and placement of federal government.
Many cannot even get their facts straight. So this essay will majorly take place in my opinion and what few credible facts I can actually find that weren't made up by some super fan of the democrats So I guess to start off, we should go to the beginning. The party was technically founded by Thomas Jefferson among others but was never fully known until Andrew Jackson was elected in the 1830 (and that's where the gates of hell opened allowing the little democratic demons out!).
Democracy in the United States is based on the indirect representation of the people by elected officials who are usually chosen by direct vote. Almost from the beginning of the United States' history, however, two parties have shared the great majority of the elected positions from the local level to the presidency. However, up until the mid-1850's when the Republican party was formed, other parties such as the Whigs, Federalists, and Anti-Federalists did not last very long. The Democratic Party has existed for much longer, tracing its roots from Thomas Jefferson's Democratic Republican Party beginning around 1792 (Encarta). The two largest parties have changed, third parties have

“The modern Democratic Party is the descendant of the Democratic-Republican Party, an early-nineteenth-century political organization led by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Also known as the Jeffersonian Republican Party, the Democratic-Republican Party began as an antifederalist group, opposed to strong, centralized government. “The Democratic Party at its worst is better for the country than the Republican Party at its best.” This was a statement made by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1955. Lyndon B. Johnson of course was a Democrat. Is this quote true today? That is a question that can only be answered after a careful analysis of the philosophy of the Republican and Democratic leaders that help to run this nation.
The Democratic Party is a party that stemmed from the Democratic-Republican Party, or the Jeffersonian Republican Party. “Democrats have led the fight for civil rights, Social Security, workers' rights, voting rights, veteran’s rights, health care, equality, immigration reform, and women's rights.” Since 1848, this has been the mindset of the state of Texas. Also in 1848, Texas took part in its first presidential election. The state of Texas has voted Democratic every year except for in 1928 when citizens did not agree with the nominee, Al Smith. Texas officially became a state in 1845.
What was the ideology of the Democratic party? Individual liberty, limited government intervention and free market were among the most important tenants of the Democratic party. The welfare of the population was valued, therefore two liberal and still operating policies, Social Security and Medicare, came from Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal policy (Sidlow, 2013, p.16). They were believed to be necessary for the good
All across the world there are major political parties fighting in each country in order to take control of their government. The United States of America is not an exception, as the Democratic and Republican parties compete against each other in every election in order to gain control of the US Government. These two political parties are the most popular and powerful in the US, there are very popular that other political parties have no chance on competing against these two in an election race. Since the administration of George Washington two political parties have dominated the United States political system, but they have not always been the same two parties. The first two parties were the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Federalists were those who supported a strong federal government and the Anti-Federalists were those who did not. The leaders of the Federalists were Alexander Hamilton and John Adams. Both were from the Northeast where the Federalist line of thinking was strongest. Thomas Jefferson became the leader of the Anti-Federalists. These two groups really did not considered themselves parties. The founders feared parties because they thought of them as factions.
Despite being the constant underdog and loser in major elections third parties make some significant contribution to the political spectrum in the United States. Third Party Agendas are taken serious by the Democratic and Republican Parties and specific pieces of the Third Party Agendas are sometimes adopted by the two major parties. Third parties give discontented voters other alternatives. The Republican and Democratic Parties have been known to operate in similar styles and third parties give the voter the opportunity to express their discontent.
