What is professionalism? There are many definitions and approaches of professionalism of each and every person. My definition of professionalism is when a worker is trustworthy, approachable, knows how to handle the situation, being on time, organized, positive attitude, dependable, committed, respectable, and empathetic. When a person is in a professional setting they need to be there physically and mentally. It is not professional to be at work but discuss with your colleagues about what had happened when you were not at work.
I worked in a home care staffing company in Ann Arbor as an office assistant 2 years ago. In a home care staffing company, the company provided physical therapist, occupational therapist, nurses to home care where the patients needed care. My job as an assistant was to fax any kind of invoices the physical therapists provided to me to email or fax it to the company they were working for and sometimes visit their office for additional office matters. When the invoices reached to the company they were to log the work that was done and give a check so we can pay to the workers.

They would either not have their checks ready neither did they log the paper work correctly and was giving a hard time to our company. When I visited their office to discuss what the matter was and while speaking and noticing the action of the office manager I knew where the trouble was. The office manager herself was not doing a very good job at her work.
Although I had made an appointment to meet her at a certain time, she was not there to meet me and because of her not being on time I had to wait an hour to get my work done. She had brought her lunch and was trying to discuss the work, which was very distracting and

A few more pages to the left, cordial is defined as showing or marked by warm and often hearty friendliness, favor, or approval, a cordial welcome.
A professional is characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2) : exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace. Being professional should be a subconscious effort in the fact that it should always be applied. When employees are professional it helps the system run more efficiently and safely. A person must me a certain criteria when being evaluated on professionalism, a person is judged based on the clients; Attitude, Values, Communication techniques, and approachability. Professionalism is a type of behavior that one, usually your boss or employer, expects from the professional person. These behaviors, for example could be showing up to work on time, dressing appropriately and being respectful to others in their profession. As a student being in a doctor of physical therapist degree program, professionalism has its own personal definition to that of the student.
What does Professionalism mean to me? Professionalism in my term means it is someone who is very dedicated to their profession. It is an important and great decision to follow by the rules and ethics of professionalism. If we did not have anyone that cared about their profession it would cause a lot of problems in our society today. It could cause a lot of disruption in your workplace. In order to abide by professionalism you must take pride in your job, percieve realistic goals and values, and know what your expectations are.

Professionalism in the workplace, is the absolute key to having a successful, and smoothly run business. Professionalism is something that must be maintained by every individual within the work setting, especially in health care, whether it is the janitor, activity director, nursing assistant, doctor, or even the head administrator. Professionalism encompasses many aspects, such as teamwork, attitude, environment, knowledge, morals, and ethics.
Professionalism means having the skills and qualities that characterize a practicing professionalitis something that a person gains over a period of time with experience . Work experience, placement and other forms of work-integrated learning can help students develop those skills in a professional context and help that individual have a successful caeer when he starts in the industry .
Professionalism is a (1) Theoretical knowledge on which practical or skill based activity rests, considering this, I applied my theoretical knowledge such as differentiate, individual needs into my practice. (2) Professionalism is formal, accredited qualification, providing grounding in theoretical knowledge; according to these, I am doing my assignments and voluntary teaching practice to obtain a certificate. (3) Licence to practice or some proof of occupational competence; according to this, I showed my Confirmation of Student Enrolment on Initial Teacher Training letter to my manager to get a voluntary teaching practice. (4) Professionalism is a code of professional conduct or practice; I follow my organisation’s rules and regulations such as health and safety rules, equality and diversity, time keeping, etc. (5) Professionalism is a professional body that represents the interests of practitioners and regulates their activity in some way, in my teaching practice their awarding bodies are Tinder Foundation, BBC Learning English and British Council. They regulate my organisation’s lesson plans and activities in some way and I follow them. (handouts, 2014)
Professionalism is based on ones own self. There are many qualities associated with being professional.
To remain productive and successful in the workplace, an individual must maintain a superior level of professionalism. Professionalism is defined as work-place behaviors that result in positive business relationships. In the How-Do-You-Rate assessments, all of my results showed a clear understanding in business etiquette. To put in my own words what professionalism means to me, it is your ability to demonstrate yourself in an appropriate, responsible, goal-determined manner, while working respectively and alongside your business community. Your professionalism is presented by you and interpreted by others. The projections you portray to others can increase/decrease the value of your input in the workplace. I have developed an action plan that will guide myself to achieve the highest professionalism possible.
Professionalism to me demonstrates a characteristic an individual possess’, which whom I would be proud to have represent my company. An individual who is open-minded to different personalities, perspectives, as well as tasks is an individual I would enjoy working with. A professional in my opinion should be a working progress to be a leader. Leadership is a quality every professional should strive for.

Although this may be true, this definition of professionalism is far too vague. With this definition a professional person can be anyone who is being provided a monetary amount for any service they provide. Being professional means knowing how to properly speak and behave. This includes being professional at work, home and how to act professionally in your own career field .
In general , professionalism is the skill, good view, and ethical actions that is predicted from a person who is qualified to do a job properly . It is the conduct, aspires, or attributes that define or indicate a professional person .It requires specific knowledge and often extensive and intensive academic accommodation.
Professionalism can be defined as the skills expected from someone that was trained to perform a certain job or duty. Personally, I agree with this simple description, but at the same time I believe that professionalism is a much more complex characteristic. There is a difference between being “a” professional and “be” professional. Nowadays, most of us, students, are looking forward to obtain a degree in order to be qualified for a certain type of job. In other words, the main goal of students is to become professionals in a particular area. Become a professional it is not only related to college and the learning process, it is related to the development and improvement of one’s abilities. For instance, when applying the learned skills in
