In the article “ shooting our way out of a gun epidemic” (2017), Renee Graham claims that gun violence in America has reached another level. Graham supports her claim by making various references the the many mass shootings, comments made by our president and previous president. Renee explains that legislators should now regret voting to expand the right to carry concealed weapons. Graham goes on to say that after this vote by the house of representatives, the worst mass shooting in modern history in Las vegas and soon after a churchgoer in texas took place. The author’s purpose is to argue that america has become very trigger happy due to the stress of the right to carry an concealed weapon. She also mentions that congress has done nothing

In their article End the Gun Epidemic in America the editorial board states how certain weapons and ammo need to be “outlawed”. Yes some of their arguments are convincing but most of them are not. The editorial group uses comparison, storytelling, and addressing objections to their arguments to try to convince you more, but most of them do not work in their favor.

In this essay, I will be discussing the gun violence in America and I will be using different sources to help support my essay. I will be using three sources HBO Documentary “Violence: An American Tradition”, Amanda Marcotte’s “Overcompensation Nation: Toxic Masculinity and Violence.”, and Todd May’s “Is American Nonviolence Possible?”. I believe the gun violence in America comes because of the economic inequality, social status and, cultures. Gun violence is correlated to “toxic masculinity”. In her article, ‘Overcompensation nation’ Amanda Marcotte claims that gun violence in America can be correlated to a kind of over the top masculinity that’s toxic.

I am astonished how Chicago implemented tough gun laws and the results were devastating. I expected the gun laws to attain more civil order and decreased the violence within the state. I do not understand how gun violence increased in Chicago and not in other states, where those other states did not bothered implementing strict gun laws. Were people upset overall, causing to increased violence in Chicago? I thought order equals control in society, however, this is not the case for Chicago. Throughout Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, it demonstrated that when power is influenced by personal ambition, it leads to downfall and characters start to realize power signifies nothing. Almost every character introduced into this play has used their ambition to try to gain power or has used their power to get where they are right now. Macbeth’s actions were guided by what the witches predicted for him, and when that word went around, Lady Macbeth was controlled by the thought of power too. The thoughts of power created conflicts throughout the book, starting with the murder of King Duncan, all the way to the murder of Macbeth. When actions are used to steal power, it leads to a destructive future.

However, homicides by juveniles involving a firearm have increased nearly threefold. In addition, during this same period, the number of juvenile arrests for weapons violations increased 117 percent. When guns are the weapon of choice, juvenile violence becomes deadly.

Every year, thousands of people, innocent or guilty die from gun violence in the United States. Gun violence is despicable while guns are still lawful with a permit. The founding fathers didn 't want the people to be defenseless like they were against the British so they guaranteed that right. However, our founding fathers failed to think about the disadvantages of giving access to guns in our country so easily. Many people debate that there should be more limits on gun control considering the many deaths and mass shootings that have occurred in the United States. Our country leads all nations in gun violence yet some still debate that it 's in the constitution for a reason, for the protection of the people.

In 2015, 13,367 people lost their lives due to gun violence according to Gun Violence Archive. The Archive also states that out of that number, 693 were children from ages 0-11. We can all agree that there is indeed a problem that we have to address. The solution to that problem, however, has been debated by many. I believe the solution to this problem exists in three parts: Mandatory training and licensing along with more heavily secure gun storage, stricter regulations on the purchasing of a firearm—disabilities and criminal records should be more deeply looked into before transaction—and finally, equipping teachers at highs schools with the right kind of weaponry to prevent mass shootings.

Gun violence in America is the one of the worst epidemics in the world right now and needs to be solved. Over four hundred students have been killed while in school during school shootings ever since the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2012. That is nearly one entire elementary school. This statistic alone should have prompted for major changes, however, nothing has been done. After the Parkland school shooting, millions of children around the U.S. have now created movements by themselves such as walkouts and marches to help bring awareness to the rest of the country.

In the United States, over the past few decades, gun violence has increased massively, leading to over 10,000 gun-related incidents in 2015. The main cause of the massive amount of violence in the United States in recent decades is mainly because people who are in danger have no means to protect themselves. This is why guns should be more accessible for citizens, so that they can protect themselves in dangerous situations. Allowing citizens to conceal weapons would heavily decrease the amount of incidents that occur because innocent people were unable to protect themselves. Also, putting less control on guns would prevent crimes from even happening in the first place. If a criminal had intentions of committing a crime, they would be much less willing if they knew that they might possibly get shot trying to commit that crime. Thus, criminal activity and violent crimes will cease to continue at such high rates and more people will have the ability to protect themselves in dangerous situations.

Every day 297 people in America are shot in murders, assaults, suicides, unintentional shootings, and police intervention. Everyday 89 people die from gun violence, 31 of those people are murdered. Today I'm going to be talking about the social justice issue of gun violence. Gun violence, death and injury from firearms is a major issue in all parts of our world. Gun violence continues to affect young people, lower-income people, and communities of color. This social justice and public health issue occurs in places all over the world, however it has become such an epidemic in the United States that it will result in gun violence being one of the main topics in the 2016 presidential election. There are many causes for gun violence, for example, in this day and age pop culture influence is the greatest cause of gun violence. Guns have also became more accessible and easy to obtain. Poor identification and treatment of mentally ill people is another significant cause for gun violence.

Throughout history, books have shaped the world. Some books, such as the Bible, have influenced Christians. The book Common Sense by Thomas Paine encouraged Americans to join the fight against the British. Other books do more than simply encourage; they set forth a new philosophy. The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith claims to promote a philosophy which one day would provide the foundation for modern economics. One author wrote two books that would forever change the course of history. These books would lay the foundation to communism and influence leaders like Lenin and Tse-Tung. Karl Marx’ works, Capital and The Communist Manifesto, have forever changed the course of history.

Gun violence has been around for centuries and there have been many mass shootings, homicides and suicides. There is always the argument on “do guns kill people” or “do people kill people”? What people really need to be looking at is the problem which is people stocking up on guns and not knowing how to properly handle them and all the mass shootings that are taking place. As a country, people need to be coming up with solutions instead of doing nothing.
