Since I was in the seventh grade, pressure has always been a part of everything I have done. This has stemmed from a variety of different sources, mostly standards that I set for myself. Without these standards, I would never have become the person I am today. The lifestyle I live brings pressure along with it. But, I enjoy everything that comes with the way I live my life. Unlike others, I was put under a tremendous amount of pressure at a young age in the classroom, and on the court. Pressure may be in many ways, depending on the person going through a situation where it is present. For me, pressure is when someone is asking me to do something that I cannot do. Unfortunately, many times, the issue was internal. Most of the time, I felt like I could not do something, rather than letting someone else do it for me. This feeling was often a major factor in determining whether or not I wanted to do anything outside of my comfort zone. Once I entered middle school, pressure began to set in. When I was in the seventh grade, academics became more difficult, and the work load increased. However, as all of my friends did, I signed up to play middle school basketball. I was very excited to play for a new coach, who happened to be at the time Chris Wheelock. After the first week of practice, I was feeling very good about my chances to be a key contributor to a good team, as well as feeling comfortable with my coaches and teammates. Then, after one hard practice, I
Rather than apathy, pressure is one of the most abundant monsters, found in countless of areas and caused by a variety of things. Attacks of such a monster can begin from a countless number of elements. Pressure can be introduced from school assignments, work requirements, self-confidence, and even from one’s own mind. People of today’s society tend to stress over trying to conform to our society and by attempting to meet or exceed school standards or to obtain a certain
Usually in short stories , peer pressure is almost always involved. Peer pressure is the influence to do something by your friends. In the Crucible, Mary Warren was John Proctor’s maid and she gave into peer pressure when she was forced to plead murder on Abigail in court. This can relate to many occurrences in our world today.
Peer pressure can be used in many ways. Animal Farm is an allegory by George Orwell. It is about farm animals that weren’t satisfied of how their farm is run so they rebel. They make 7 commandments being “All animals are equal” the most important one. The book shows how total equality is hard to achieve and power corrupts. The novel uses peer pressure to control and manipulate what is happening on the farm. It is evident on how the action of the animals changes. It is evident on how Boxer’s way of thinking changes. It is also evident in the actions of the sheep and what it does to the other animals. Peer pressure plays a big role in this novel.
In The Joy Luck Club and Friday Night Lights both of the teenagers feel the pressure that their parents are putting on them. They both react to the pressure in different ways Jing Mei went on and didn’t do any of the test. Then you have Mike who let the pressure drive him on to have one of the best performances of his career. This is how they use pressure in different

People, everywhere, each live their lives differently. One person might be traveling to work, another might be working on a farm, and another might be serving in the military. Everyone person makes different choices that have lead to these diverse paths in life. But one thing greatly affects a person's choices and what they become. It’s single influence on a person can change their life for better or for worse. This powerful influence is pressure. Everyone has wants, desires, friends, and other things vying for their attention each second of everyday. These things each exert a certain pressure on an individual that can influence them one direction or another. Pressure shows the true nature of a person, but who the person
The pressure has not only good effect but also bad effect which can make people tend to obey the orders. If the orders are very bad such as kill others, will people obey the orders? That pressure becomes problem because people are under pressure tend to obey the orders. According to article Shooting an Elephant, George Orwell had shown evidence that under pressure, people will decide to obey majority even if they disobey. George Orwell had written that, “The people expected it of me and I had got to do it; I could feel their two thousand wills pressing me forward, irresistibly.” Because of social pressure, the police in the story had to shoot the elephant while he didn’t want to kill it. Another example is about article The Lottery of Shirley Jackson. Because of traditional pressure, villager had thrown stones at unlucky woman until she died. Therefore, pressure is one of reasons cause people prone to
Peer pressure is when someone gets encouraged to follow their peers by changing their attitude, values, or behavior to fit in with those of the influencing group or individual. Hughes and Orwell engage in the art of persuasion on the topic of peer pressure and how it can cause you to do things you may not believe in, and I find myself persuaded by their appeals because I share many of their audiences' characteristics. The main point in Salvation is to describe Hughes's experience of being saved which resulted in him being disappointed in himself and in Jesus. In addition, he lied to the church and felt guilty because of it. Being "saved" caused Hughes to lose faith in God which shows how pressure on a child who does not know what is going
Pure pressure affects people of any age, in a multitude of ways, for a number of reasons. It’s something everyone experiences at some point in their life. How you deal with it is and always will be entirely up to you.
Peer pressure influences teenagers because they might not want to do the things that their friends do. Many teenagers will be victims of peer pressure because their friends think that they might not be good enough to be in their groups. Another thing is that they think they don’t fit in with their friends. Their friends are going to tell them something and they will actually do it then after that their friends laugh at them or make fun of them. Laurie Halse Anderson the author of “Speak” is saying that peer pressure is dangerous and can be more harmful when their is more than one person doing the pressuring. Melinda friend Rachel left Melinda to eat by herself because Rachel friends said that she can not eat with them anymore.
As far as the act of sex, much pressure is put on the man to perform:
Peers Pressure If your friend jumps off of a cliff are you going to do it too?” How many times have you heard those lines? Peers pressure people no matter what age. People make decisions based on the influences around them.
As an individual I love staying active, socializing with others, being dependable, and keeping busy. Playing Basketball for Flour Bluff ISD, since the seventh grade, has granted me the opportunity to achieve all of these goals. For some peculiar reason I have consistently felt that I lacked experience of which my peers had, and that I would never be able to acquire it. Soon after I started playing I became intimidated of my fellow teammates and worried about the time I felt I lost, due to beginning so late in my childhood. Without fail, I always feel a sense of accomplishment after making it through tryouts every year and as I approach my final season, it has become clear just how much of my life was devoted to Basketball, that I truly love it and how I am thankful to be a part of something much more than just a team.
If someone asked you to jump off a bridge with two of your friends, would you do it? Peer pressure is defined by social pressure from members of one's peer group to take a certain action, adopt certain values, or otherwise conform in order to be accepted. There are many types of peer pressure; a common one is group pressure.
You feel pressure to get everything done, and have it done to perfection. If you miss a homework assignment your parents get on you, might discipline you, to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Then, you feel pressure to do even better in school. I admit I feel pressure to do well in school, but not like some people. Some people feel like if their grade is anything less than an A then they have failed that class. Sometimes that’s just them; sometimes that's because of their parents. The pressure put on students to get that good grade is overwhelming, and the pressures and expectations to be in the Top 25 are unreal and even
