Presidential Essay: Ronald Reagan During the time of president’s we have had many different types of presidents, and obviously from all areas of the political spectrums. One that I am constantly hearing about how he ran the country is Ronald Reagan. I have grown up in a house with someone who was a huge supporter of him, so I have always heard a lot about him. He was born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6th, 1911 and dies in Bell-Air, Los Angeles, CA on June 5th, 2004. Reagan was a near great president when he was in office, not only did he do wonderful things with the country, but also many people like him. When he walked into office, his domestic agenda was directly focused on making sure he made these changes like he talked about before. He felt that if he focused on balancing the budget more, taking away from supporting social welfare programs, cutting taxes, and giving the state government powers again, that this would be wonderful. He wanted to save the federal government billons of dollars and make the economy better, as he truly believed he was going to accomplish these goals. Reagan campaigned on “Making American Great Again”, and had always planned on being a national leader. He wanted to regain control of America, and rebuild what it turns into after democrat leaders for so long. He ran against Jimmy Carter, and he completely blew him out of the water in votes. It was like 93 votes for Carter, and Hundreds of votes or Reagan. Jimmy Carter was a president before Reagan, and Reagan won and took over. Reagan was an actor, so he knew how to talk to people. He was also a person with a lot of courage, and it bleed through to the American people. He has a vision and he knew what he wanted to accomplish when he was in the White House, and because he knew the vision, he was not afraid to go after it. He had natural courage, and it was extremely contagious to everyone. He was a president that America says he brought back to life the spirit of the country.
