An American politician that got through being calm and using humor. The man who made it his goal to end the Cold War. A man that saved our economy as president using reaganomics. The person I am talking about of course is Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was born in a commercial building on February 6th, 1911. As a boy he had a strong belief in the goodness of people and that they would do the right thing. He was different than most people in the way that he was against racial discrimination; once having invited black people that were not allowed at the local inn to his house where they were offered to spend the night and have breakfast the next morning. Reagan moved to Dixon in 1920 where he would graduate and get his first job as a lifeguard. Reagan eventually went on to college at Eureka College-- Reagan was known for doing extremely well in college having managed theater, being student body president, part of the football team, captain of the swim team, and even leading a student revolt against the college president. …show more content…

From there he became a popular actor and politician. In Reagan’s political career he started off as a Democrat before famously switching to Republican stating that he didn’t leave the Democratic party but the party left him. As a Republican Reagan went against medicare in 1961 saying that if they did not stop it now we would wake up one day to socialism. Reagan spoke against the idea of a big government and it was these conservative views the brought him to be the governor of California. Later after his governorship he ran for president in 1976-- lost then ran again in 1980 winning this
