Professor William J. Tooma The benefits and consequences of the internet The Internet has negative and positive impacts, it depends how we will make use of it; the negative effects can be like a computer virus, internet theft, pornography, and dating sites, however the internet can be used for good purposes. Internet helps people to communicate and be connected with everyone all around the world by mail, Skype, Facebook, Google, twitter, and other social network apps and web sites; I personally believe technology benefits everyone and we are depending on this platform to better our lives in a positive way. The negative

Pornography web sites can be easily accessed by minor teenagers without any restriction, even though the web site prompts the conditions kids could just disregard it period, which could increase corruption and motive them to engage into negativity; however web sites like you tube does not permit to view video’s which is impropriate for minors under certain age, they certainly oblige the users to register for an account in order to views certain videos after a user is done with a complete registration, System does a background check if the user is allowed to watch. Technology makes a lot of sense but it it’s not realistic because anyone could violate the terms and condition by entering false information such has date of birth and manipulate the system for they own requirements. As Elizabeth Schroeder, the executive director of Answer, a national sex-education organization based at Rutgers University, said: “Your child is going to look at porn at some point. It’s inevitable.” Parents cannot always keep on track what the child does,
The internet makes people to be more dependency. It makes people to observe more information, and to be tended to find information. People relay more in finding information in the internet today. Furthermore, people are physically involved as they try to think and find information from the internet. The internet may have small effect on people, but still it helps people.
The internet and the invention of improved technology are growing rapidly. It allowed us to do complex jobs without having to spend as long as we had to by doing it manually. The internet is a vast source, it involves many people working together to create an opportunity for everyone to get easy and fast information without having to pick up a book. With a click of a mouse button we have tons of information right in front of our computer screen. So is having easy access and having improved technology doing us harm or being beneficial to us?
There are many pros when it comes to the internet. It allows family members in different states to keep in touch with one another. For example, my family is currently planning a surprise party for my grandmother, and to keep it a secret we have planned everything in a group message on the social media website, Facebook, Similarly, the internet also keeps Americans updated on what is going on in the world. Social media websites have become more popular than they were in 2008. Online classes were made possible by the internet for students who want to go back to school, or for students who are in school and
The effects of spending a lot of time on the internet can either be positive or negative. Some positive effects that Carr identifies is it saves him money because he shops online and he does some of his banking. He says, “The Net has become my all purpose medium,” this means that the internet has become his go to or his “friend.” He also identifies the internet as being a very useful tool when needing information very quickly. Some negative effects Carr identifies from using the Internet is it is “changing” his brain and remapping the way he thinks. He also feels that the more you use the Internet the more you lose your train of thought or you become less focused on anything you do especially reading a book. Carr seems to provide many examples from a positive outlook on using the Internet than negative outlooks.
The sheer number of people who use the Internet is astounding. In everyday life the amount of people a person will have a meaningful conversation where voices are shared is pretty low. Also, the voices you will hear can be pretty limited, as person is confined to one area of the world at a time. On the Internet however, a person can hear millions of varied voices. The Internet can give a person exposure to people from all over the world, or people of a minority they may not meet in person. Obviously not all voices on the Internet are necessarily good, but the pros outweigh the cons. People may say certain experiences are lost because of technology, but many of these are not meaningful forms of interaction lost. The Internet has removed the need for a person to go to stores to shop. Some may this is bad, but is shopping really great interaction with another person? Is unnecessary and sometimes awkward small-talk with a cashier really something lives are lesser off without? The Internet removes insignificant interactions and allows to people to focus on the interaction that matters to them. Some people, of course, will completely forgo the opportunity for human interaction and end up spending all of their time on the
How the internet affects us socially, it has a lot of positive effects on the socially part of every day like for example. It gives us ways to connect with family, friends and ways for entertainment and news. And get to see what is happening around the world and see what's happening in politics.
The Internet is a global network of vast information. With a few clicks, an individual can have access to up to 200 million web-sites filled with educational and recreational information. The Internet is not regulated in anyway (Carnegie Library 1). It is accessible throughout the entire world from the North to the South, to the early morning sunrise and dark sunsets. Different ethnicity and backgrounds come together linked upon this network resembling a connection of one body in unity. Sadly, issues arise creating concern for users, focusing particularly on minors. Pornography is one of the inappropriate materials on the Internet for minors. This material is harmful to young impressionable minds. Pornography is tearing and
The prevalence of the internet has had a tremendous impact on American society in terms of physical health and emotional well-being. In the following pages, I will attempt to briefly highlight some of the positive and negative impacts I feel today’s internet technology has had on people living in The United States of America.
The effects of having a free and open internet are both positive and negative. I personally believe that the freedom to access and share information far outweighs the problems internet freedom causes. A huge problem on the internet is rampant piracy. Another problem that stems from having an open and free internet is the sale and purchase of drugs online. In my opinion though, the freedom to learn and share anything, makes these problems worth the trouble they cause.
Throughout my essay I have came to the conclusion that the bad outweigh the good. It can be horrible and helpful just depending on how you use it. As the years went on and on social media started to become a big part of people's lives. People became more and more familiar with it and started to learn how to hack others accounts, phone or laptop. I think people should enjoy life more with being offline. Sharing your information on the internet will give hackers and bullies an entrance in your life. Cyberbullying can cause self-harm.
The fact that people want the pornography still doesn’t stop the Internet from being under fire from concerned parents and politicians. What matters are the people’s rights. The freedom to read, and censorship fails to address issues of privacy and the freedom to use such services. The Internet is anonymous which makes it better for consumers as their reputations don’t suffer. However, minorities would suggest that because of this anonymity on the Internet, ages can't be monitored, which makes it hard to determine if illegal activities are taking place. It is worth mentioning that all sex sites on the Internet require proof of age by the use of credit cards. The sex sites are interested in
All I wanted to do was shop for new shoes online, but instead I was staring at a webpage packed with lewd photographs. I was only 14. I certainly was not looking to be directed to such a vulgar website; however, much to my dismay, I had simply mistyped the URL to a popular sporting goods store and found myself face-to-face with something I was much too young to see. Unfortunately, this happens all too often. A staggering amount of young children are accessing pornographic material online, whether they want to or not. In this day in age where just about everything is regulated in one fashion or another, many are calling for the censorship of Internet pornography. While some say it is a necessity when it comes to the industry, others
The internet has a key role on how it effects the globe. The are many negative and positive things about it. Some negatives are that people might rely on it too much. You might always use it for GPS then when it comes time when your GPS doesn't work or something else happens to it then how are you going to get from point A to point B. Another problem is it's hurting the economy. Everybody is buying things online so small town shops are going out
The internet is the easier way for people to communicate with each other. It has made the world smaller by bringing people together everywhere and any time. This invention has important tools for people to contact and it has changed their way of communication in today busy world. In fact people are becoming totally dependent on the internet as a way of communication in their daily life, business and work. The limitation of old communication tools has made the use of internet for communication is wider all over the world .
The internet is a tool for research, and knowledge that helps many people and for things such as school and jobs. Though there may be the people who prey on these people and take advantage of their lack of knowledge and exploit, without the internet it would cut billions of jobs worldwide, collapse economies, and potentially worse outcomes. Though the world did function before the internet, having many different outlets for information, whether it be through books, newspapers, radio, and television. “The internet helped expedite information, allowing a technological boom and creating jobs, just through the internet platform itself, though it destroyed lots of jobs it created many more (Internet Jobs, 1).” Now think hypothetically what would happen to the world if the internet stopped for just a single
