The piece I have created is a poster reflecting the three principles for making economic decisions, plus trusting in God’s providence to change the world. I used ink pens and coloured pencils to showcase images reflecting solidarity for the earth and one another. Solidarity means unity, it’s a society standing together for the greater good. In the centre of the poster a group of people are seen consoling one another and showing empathy. Their unity and efforts to help one another reflect the the theme of solidarity. Surrounding this image, are pictures that reflect the three principles for making economic decisions such as promoting human dignity by helping the poor, reflecting that the earth was made for all beings, and caring for the earth

The theme I have selected for my book is “...Despite one’s best effort, humanity will not always return the favor. Life is not a balanced scale; life is a dance of give and take that can leave one person on top of the world and another buried six feet under.” This theme can be linked to my poster’s slogan: “It is possible to be chained by the stories we have yet to tell,” because the chains that bound the Lacks family were the cause of the unjustness they were subjected to. The image I selected represents my slogan and the characters in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks because they felt locked up, left to rot as they wondered what had happened to their mother. The chains are the lies, the secrets, and the manipulations that the Lacks family
When looking at what factors lead to the rise of the pictorial poster, it is clear to see that the majority of them occurred in late nineteenth century Paris and that perhaps one man, Jules Chéret, can be thanked for exploiting and mastering the techniques which made these posters reach the levels of respect previously reserved for the fine arts. As well as Jules Chéret and his mastery of lithography I will be exploring the influence of Japan and their printing techniques upon Toulouse Lautrec as well as Baron Georges-Eugene Haussmann’s renovation of Paris during its Second empire, the impacts of the rising middle class, and the effects that tax had upon the walls of Paris.
Figure one is taken on Parliament Street right off of Dundas. This pole is across the street from one of the newly developed building. The pole represents the tensions with the social class of the community of Regent Park. It has some social conflicted advertisements taped to it. It is fascinating to see these kinds of posters because it tells a story of the neighbourhood and the poverty that the community faces. The poster definitely speaks. On one of the posters it says, “Raise social assistance rates followed by “end punitive surveillance and degradation. It also states “ensure access to all immigrants and “raise the minimum wage to $15 for everyone. This shows inequality throughout the Regent Park
The image I’ve chosen has somewhat of a Tim Burton vibe, even if it does only comes down to the girl in it, which is a reoccurring theme in a lot of his animated films. Specifically the witch girl in Para-Norman especially given what could be ghosts in the world she has created for her self. The image is on a pretty large truck with (when put together) a collection of monotone colors like yellow, grey, black, and white. The characters within the piece vary from a rain drop shape to a shape resembling a germ or even a fish. The only “message” I feel that can be gained from this would be you create the world around you and sometimes you have to see it for what you’ve created it with. Sometimes imagination can help you within your reality so
The intended audience is skilled labored oriented bushmen’s and sawmills hands workers. This is what seems like the recruiting offices were in need for at the time.
In order to work effectively and appropriately with vulnerable and marginalised groups in society such as individuals with mental illnesses, it is fundamental for a social worker to have a comprehensive knowledge base and proficient skills.
The puzzle piece will match the color of the problem in the world they are most concerned with. Written on it will be what they think the biggest issue of the world is and how they can provide help towards it. With them standing around the globe in a heart shape, another message It’s giving off is that we all see that the world is not perfect and these people are not oblivious to the problems that are going on. In some way shape or form it affects them. They each have a puzzle piece to help with the concerns they have of the world. It’s entitled that if everyone did their part it can solve the bigger picture, which is the world and it’s troubles. I want to give off this image of people working together as a team, to better the community around them, and future generations. I will use bright colors in my painting, so it can give off a strong positive impression to brighten someone’s day, and also be seen in the night time. It would be to show that there is more to life then cruelty, and death casualties in the
In this photo, there is a very well presented young woman with a white blouse and a black jacket this is a dress for a job interview. But there is a tense atmosphere between these two people. The girl is a bit confused but at the same time she is scared, nervous, and feels a frustration because she does not understand what this man is telling her. She tilts her body to the left giving a clear message of fear and even in her eyes, you can see a little fear. In her mind, she has a question mark because she does not understand what is happening with her and only manages to stay seated. However, this man who is the interviewer stands has a very aggressive attitude with her and has in his right hand a megaphone, which he uses to yell at her that
The “practice session” for the skills demonstration assignment consisted of six individuals (3 couples) who are all close friends of the facilitator. These individuals imitated their ideals of a “serious relationship” between two people experiencing problems between one another, and seeking help from couples’ therapy in order to overcome these problems. The Social Learning Theory was the theoretical framework used during this practice session along with the Current Social Work Practice Model. The Social Learning Theory, according to Theories, Models, and Perspectives (2016), suggests, “Human behavior is learned as individuals interact with their environment” and that “Problem behavior is maintained by positive or negative reinforcement.” The
I felt that your post was very insightful and articulated a similar approach to my own. The point in your post about becoming more knowledgeable around teachings in order to allow for a more authentic relationship stood out to me. This statement really highlighted to me how learning the different teachings would help a social worker engage clients in a more thoughtful, respectful way. I think this comment also speaks to Intersectionality theory discussed by Culbrandsen (2017) and that people from similar groups will have different experiences or views of the world based on their individual location. By educating ourselves on the different teachings we are able to provide a more holistic approach in our interactions supporting clients. Using
The main aspect I have based the poster around is appealing tor emotions as it is the most effective way to persuade anyone. This can be seen in the main image of a parent holding their child’s hand, along with the words “you can’t be a hero if you aren’t there.” I have mainly focused on guilt as it is the most influential emotion. The parents will take the poster more seriously, therefore reaching my goal of persuading them to become safer in the sun. The second technique I have incorporated into my poster is association. I have linked sun exposure to skin cancer and death. This is visible in the hands that are riddled with cancer, and the words “don’t let the sun take you away”. This is effective as it reiterates the urgency of the cause, which would result in the viewers taking my poster more seriously. Therefore resulting in them being safer in the run. The slogan that accompanies this image also expresses another advertising technique I have included is call to action. Through my poster, I have expressed that more precautions need to be taken in the sun due to the effects it has on the victims. It is voiced in the images of the sun safe tips found at the bottom along with the wording “don’t let the sun take you away.” This is an effective and important aspect as it restates the urgency of the message behind my poster. In this specific
For my multimodal I decided to make a brochure to target my audience. Within the brochure I decide to include images that had a strong meaning when presented by themselves. For example, I include a picture that says, "stop bulling, stand up, speak out". This image just by itself already is showing my main point. It lets my reader know that I want them to speak up and make a difference. The image of the individual hanging illustrates that bullying can target terrible affects, but most importantly can cause an individual to take their own life. Which creates a dramatic and stressful atmosphere for the readers. The last image illustrates show a group of individuals holding hands, which also says "stop bullying" with a heart in the back ground.
Over the past few years, people have become more concerned with environmental issues. Environmental advertising (AKA. green advertising) has been more widely used by individuals, social groups, and corporations to help propagate the acknowledgement of environmental issues and their effects. Meanwhile each advertiser has different goals from consumers–corporations may have a more economical target while individuals and social groups have a more environmental target. Advertising methods used by these advertisers can include posters, magazines, radio, television, newspaper, product’s packaging, internet. This paper concentrates mostly on product design and poster. The most important aspects of presenting these environmental advertisements is the correctness and clearness of the content and an eye-catching visual design.
Supervision in social work is defined by Barker (1999) as an administrative and educational process used extensively in social agencies to help social workers further develop and refine their skills, enhance staff morale, and provide quality assurance for the clients. The short term objective of supervision is to provide workers with the work structure and agency resources which help to increase workers knowledge and skills to do their jobs effectively and professionally. The long term objective of supervision is to provide clients the most efficient service possible, consistent with agency policies and procedures.
