And then, because I couldn't think of anything bad enough to call them, I spit at them.” Heroes are people who rescue others or people that do something that is really brave. Since at home,he had a terrible life,it would be thought about that he could have left those kids to die. No he jumped into the face of danger to save younger souls unlike what Darry would have done. And that’s what is called a hero,not just someone who runs around fighting crime in tights. No,that’s a superhero,but a hero would be police,firemen,ambulance,parents,and teachers. So a hero is just someone selfless not selfish.

A hero is somebody who helps the general public for the greater good, not expecting anything in return. Ponyboy is the Greaser that fits this definition of a hero the best. Ponyboy is the character who shows the most heroic features in his personality. Ponyboy is a loyal friend who is always there. He is also very selfless, putting others before himself.

Johnny would do anything to save his friends. After Dally drove Pony and Johnny to eat some much- needed food. They came back to see the church that Johnny and Pony were hiding out in on fire. There was a school having a picnic there. Some of the kids trapped inside the church. Without saying anything, Pony jumped out of the car and ran into the burning church with Johnny behind him. Right after saving the kids, Pony described, ‘‘Johnny shoved me out the window. ‘Get out!’ I leaped out the window and I heard timber crashing and the flames roaring right behind me” (Hinton 97). Instead of saving himself, Johnny pushed Pony out the window and saved him. Johnny puts others before himself and is willing to risk his life for others. This act is truly heroic.

Everyone should know what a hero is. Most people would think a man or a woman in a cool suit and had super strength. But that is not what we are talking about today we are talking about 3 people in one book called the outsiders. And the heroes in this don't have superpowers they are just brave. And their names are Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally
