Yesterday Afternoon five innocent young children were rescued by three very brave heroes when the church on top of Jay Mountain in Windrixville suddenly set ablaze. The five children were out on a school field trip at the abandoned church. After a few minutes of being near the church, it caught on fire out of the blue. Luckily, there were two young boys who had come to their aid. The two boys, Ponyboy Curtis, 14 and Johnny Cade, 16 dashed into the burning church, putting their lives at risk. Ponyboy and Johnny freed each and every child by dropping them through an open window in the burning church that led to the outside. When each innocent life was saved, the roof started to collapse onto itself trapping the two young and brave heroes inside …show more content…
Ponyboy was released from hospital after a few hours while Dally was left with a badly burned arm, and Johnny was left in critical condition with a broken back after the roof collapsed, possibly leaving him crippled for life. One of the eyewitnesses at the scene, Jerry Wood, Teacher, Was asked how he felt about this incident and his reply: “This was a very unfortunate event considering the fact that there were many lives put at risk and a very nice site was tragically destroyed.” When asked on his opinion about the three heroes he replied: “Out of everyone in this world i wouldn’t have expected these boys to be courageous enough to pull a stunt like that.” “These three boys were clearly sent straight from heaven.” Many other witnesses stated that the boys were “a heavenly trio” and “heroic angels.” Chief of the fire station, Peter, Kewlguy said “There was clearly no evidence left behind from the fire but there is a rumour that the cause of this accident was a cigarette that was not put out properly. We will update everyone as soon as we find any further evidence to prove the rumour as fact.” When they are in a healthy condition, the boys will be interviewed to conduct further investigations on how this church mysteriously set
Individuals don't need to spare the Earth to be considered a hero, a little demonstration of generosity still can take a gutsy signal like conquering the contrasts between two individuals like Ponyboy and Randy did. Gallantry in its own basic yet charming way being caring to others is likewise courageous. Ponyboy is a legend in light of the fact that no matter how enormous or little the demonstration of chivalry he submitted was, it spared, and inhabited.
Two boys, Johnny and Ponyboy, are our valiant heroes. Not even over the age of 18, two boys rescued 5 young children, who were no older than 8-years old. While bystanders watched and worried, only 2 from the crowd had courage to go save the children. They gallantly sprinted in a run as soon they heard children screaming in a burning church. According to our sources, Ponyboy was supposed to be in a boys’ home because his parents died when he was little. Instead of sent to a boys’ home, he was allowed stayed with his older brothers and they are his guardians, and they all stay together as long as they don’t do anything transgressive. A previous hearing at court confirms Ponyboy is not on the borderline of going
In contrast to the removed Johnny shown early on, after the realization that he endangered several children, he boldly rushed to assist. After killing Bob in self-defense, Johnny bolts with Ponyboy to an abandoned church in the countryside. However, after presumably dropping a lighted cigarette, the church ignites in a blaze of fumes. Realizing there are children in the flaming church, Johnny and Ponyboy dart to aid. During the calamity, Ponyboy realizes that, “Johnny had been right behind me all the way” as he slips through a broken window and into the fiery church and notes that, “Johnny wasn’t behaving at all like his old self...That was the only time I can think of when I saw him without that defeated, suspicious look in his eyes” (92).
The (NWR) number six crew waited above the road and watched the fire grow and get closer. As the crew watched the fire two civilians arrived in a truck that were camping above were the crew had stopped. The crew never told the civilians that they were there because it was going to be a deployment spot or a safety zone.
Curtis’s young face may fool you, but the fourteen year old is tough. The young teen sprinted into the church, which was in flames to save the young kids. Ponyboy states “ pieces of the old roof were crashing down to close for comfort...I heard the timber and flames….(pg ) . “ Clearly, Curtis was longing for a fresh breath of air, clean and full of good oxygen. But, his toughness showed us all, and he saved the kids with his pals Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston. You may think this kid has been through a
After running for a while they stopped in another parking lot with a fountain in the middle. While in the parking lot a blue mustang that belonged to the Socs that beat up Johnny a long time ago pulled up. They stepped out and started to insult Johnny and Ponyboy, Ponyboy snapped back and they grabbed him and shoved his head in the found as stated, “They grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back, and shoved my face into the fountain. I fought, but the hand at the back of my neck was strong and I had to hold my breath. I’m dying, I thought, and wondered what was happening to Johnny.” This showed that those Socs were even going to kill them just because they talked back, but they were also drunk which also shows how dangerous drunk Socs are. To save Ponyboy Johnny had to kill the Soc and afterwards they both had to run out of town to avoid being arrested. This changed Ponyboys identity into a outlaw.
Johnny and Ponyboy then suddenly think that they started the fire because of their cigarette butt. The boys jump out of the car to figure out what's going on and they ran towards the church. Johnny ran into the burning church trying to save the kids that were stuck in there and he was burned and injured severely. He and Dally were able to save all the children, but Johnny died later in the
Sometimes, things can be rough. In this fantastic book by S.E. Hinton- The Outsiders, the story starts off with a boy named Ponyboy. WHen his brother gets mad at him, he runs away, expecting to return the next morning. That is all turned upside down when his friend Johnny kills a boy. They run away to Windrixville together. Then, on their way back, they spot a burning church and run inside and save the children trapped in the back. Johnny is seriously injured by a piece of burning wood. Throughout the next chapters, the boys are preparing for the big fight against an enemy gang, the Socs. After the fight, which they win, Pony and his buddy Dallas WInston go and see JOhnny in the hospital one last time before he died. Dallas, who is overrun
In my opinion Ponyboy and Johnny are heroes and that is because they both ran into a burning building to save little kids from catching on fire and dying. People don’t just sprint into burning buildings for enjoyment everyday unless it’s your job and even then they don’t do it for fun. They do it because they wanted to help save lives. Ponyboy going first showed that he didn’t want to wait for the fireman to come because it was now or never. “I’ll get them, don’t worry!” I started at a dead run for the church, and the man caught my arm. “I’ll get them. You kids stay out!” I jerked loose and ran on. All I could think was: We started it. We started it. We started it!” ( Hinton pg. 91). Ponyboy felt bad because he knew that the cigarette him and Johnny had smoked started it. He risked his life to save those children, Johnny too. Johnny went in after Ponyboy. “ I looked around, startled. I hadn’t realized Johnny had been right behind me all the way.” (Hinton pg. 91/92).
The story changed in many ways when Dally died. First off, the gang is really torn apart. Second off, Ponyboy couldn’t tell Dally what Johnny wanted him to tell Dally. Third off, It caused a lot of stress on the rest of the gang. And finally, Pony now has a story to tell about how Johnny and Dally died on the same night.
Then Ponyboy runs out the door, finds Johnny, and goes to the park. There, however, the two young greasers run into randy and bob, with a huge group of their Socs friends. One of the Socs friends hold pony boy’s head under a cold water fountain, and Ponyboy blacks out. When he comes to, he is lying on the ground next to Johnny. The bloody corps of bob is next to them. To save Ponyboy, Johnny had to kill bob.
While Johnny and Ponyboy walk over to the crowd, they hear someone hurriedly saying, “ “Jerry, some of the kids are missing”... Then we all froze. Faintly, just faintly, you could hear someone yelling. And it sounded like it was coming from inside the church.” (91) This quote shows me that the church is on fire and there are multiple kids trapped inside. If the reader were to stand in the shoes of Johnny and Ponyboy, they would have a feeling of

The author shows Ponyboys instincts when the church starts on fire. Ponyboys says, “But he never heard Dally’s answer, for we had reached the top of Jay Mountain and Dally suddenly slammed on the brakes.” This quote defines how Ponyboy makes a rash decision to go and save the kids on Jay Mountain, even before Dally has stopped the car. After leaving the car, Ponyboy makes another rash decision trying to save the children in the fire. After the children are free and Pony and Johnny are exiting the church a beam falls on Johnny, Ponyboys says, “Then I heard Johnny scream, as I went back for him.” Ponyboys instincts are brought out greatly in this quote, the author almost makes it seem as if it is second nature to Ponyboy to help save people, leading to the next characteristic of
Towards the middle of the story, a boy named Johnny had killed a Soc that was drowning Ponyboy. He and Ponyboy fled the city to another town, and hid in an abandon church there for a week. When they were going to leave, they realized the church was on fire and there was kids trapped inside. Johnny and Pony were good friends and they decided to go help the children. After they rescued the children, they had to escape the burning, ravaged building. A flaming, steaming hot beam from the ceiling fell on Johnny. After this happened, Pony passed out, “ I leaped out the window and heard timber crashing and the flames roaring right behind me. I staggered, almost
