Amnesty International is an international non-government organization that protects and fights for human rights. The organization was first started in the 1960s when a British lawyer named Peter Benenson was outraged because two Portuguese individuals were sent to jail because they were toasting to their freedom (What We Do). After this incident, he wrote an article that began a campaign to fight for the injustices of people. This article started a lot of uproar and brought clarity to people that the basic human rights must be fought for.
The organization has very simple morals. Some of which are, eliminating torture and wrongful imprisonment, removing the death penalty, and distributing international justice, just to name a few. According to international human rights laws, anyone and everyone has the right to a

Amnesty International has created a “Fair Trial Manual” that guides lawyers, judges, and individual who represent themselves to help conduct a fair trial, according to international human right laws (What We Do: Torture). Regarding torture, the organization makes it clear that anyone that it in imprisoned is in risk of getting tortured. The biggest issue is the lack of accountability to the tortures that happen. Many governments deny their existence, mostly because they are involved, and the torturers are involved with conducting the inquiries. There are also some countries who do not value the importance of basic human rights and that is where Amnesty International steps in. The organization ensures that the tortured have doctors ready to examine, lawyers present during interrogations, and that the detainees are able to contact their families. The organization also has very strong stance against the death penalty. They believe that the death penalty is wrong, no matter what the circumstances may

I was working late, which is usual since I work at an outdoor theater. The show had just ended and the crew was changing the set over for the show being performed the next day. I was asked to run up to one of the storage containers and find some props from the previous year for another theater asking to borrow it. The lights only reach the larger, main room. I searched that area first. I went around the row of cars and 4 wheelers, but the box wasn’t there. The other side of the room had all of the Christmas decorations and a horse carriage, but I was unable to find the box I was looking for there either. The only place left to look was a small area in the back sectioned off by a boards nailed up into a makeshift room. A little light spilled through the door, but racks of costumes at the entrance absorbed all of the light. After fighting my way through the dusty clothes, I found myself in dark too thick to make out the boxes in front of me. The Wnad-Lighting Charm was perfect for my situation. I moved my wand in a single loop while saying “Lumos.” A soft yellow light was emanating from the wand. It wasn’t very bright, but it was sufficient enough to read the labels on the boxes by. After a few minutes, I found the box I was looking for. I pulled out my leatherman and used the blade to cut the tape on the top of the box. On the top was the prop I was looking for. I pulled out the “magic” flowers and the remote that caused the blooms to open then made my way back to
Human rights, for centuries, has been a buzzword, creating an illusion of equality between people, united in their differences, but it is clear from the callous use of torture throughout history that human rights is only inclusive to those whom society favors. Torture is an act of repression, and establishes a direct attack to the core of human autonomy. One human being is degraded to the state of a non-human object, deprived of all empathy and legal personality. Torture has always aimed to devastate human dignity and diminish its victim to the status of a passive tool of the torturer or judicial system, as seen in Europe in the 1700s. But during this time, with the trepid introduction of human rights and the social feelings associated with
When it comes to installing Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, there are many different server roles that this software operating system has to offer. Rogers like Maslow used the ideas of Albert Einstein when it came to creating his theory of self actualization. In his belief a person who has reached self actualization is very centered and feels at ease in social and non social situations alike. In his thoughts the road to fulfillment was just as important as actually becoming fulfilled, and that each of these was define by the experiences they had. Through his use of patients who were already seeking therapy, he was able to concentrate more on the functioning of the individual rather than the dysfunction of the individual itself. Unconditional positive regard is something that was coined by Rogers to describe support or love that is given from one person to another with no strings attached so to speak. He focused this belief on the love between a parent and a child by believing that the correction of a child’s behavior does not have to come at the cost of a parents love.
Torture is a violation of human rights. According to Noah Bierman’s article, Many accused of torture at Abu Ghraib have faced no consequences, “When people look at others who are naked, they feel like they’re animals in a zoo, in addition to be termed as criminals and terrorist, he said. That had a very strong psychological impact. The plaintiffs also say

Many innocent people are dying every year, in many countries; these deaths occur because of torture which infringe upon the freedom from cruel and unusual punishment. Torture, “the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do, say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain”, is an injustice (Merriam-Webster). In the past, torture victims have been seen in events such as the Holocaust, Medieval Europe, the Tower of London, and most recently in events orchestrated by Putin and ISIS. During 2011 according to Amnesty, the world took a stand and went on protest for restrictions of freedom of expression in 91 countries; many governments replied with violence and most of those
Torture is a heinous crime to anyone who is put under the duress of those who either get enjoyment or use it as a device for information gathering. In recent years it has been more in use as a focal point with the recent killings of aid and social workers in the Middle East and travelers that enter North Korea to state a message or obtain information. If the rules of the Geneva Convention do not apply, then what rules do apply?
"Amnesty International’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
The supporting and advocating on behalf of human rights has been one of the primary principles of the United Nations. Since its founding in 1945, the United Nations has worked to preserve the basic human rights and fundamental freedoms it believes to be deserved of by every man, woman, and child on the planet. Throughout the near seventy years of the United Nations’ existence, it has been challenged with an array of questions, events, and claims regarding the possible violation of human rights. In order to combat these claims, the body has established two organizations to deal with matters of human rights. The first being the Commission Human Rights, was the original organization, founded in 1946. The Commission existed
