Introduction
Domestic violence status, in theory, recognised as a “real” crime and it is a form of criminal offences. In NSW the Bureau of Crime and Statistics and Research states that the females as young as fifteen years old go through physical violence. It is also indicated that one out of five women has been sexually abused (Shircore et al. 2017, p. 538). However, the research by the NSW Ombudsman (2006) revealed that the police response toward domestic violence calls which mostly affecting CALD women are deficient. In fact, the lull over domestic violence is culturally ingrained, and only once a situation is considered dangerous are the authorities involved.

However, the negligence as well as carelessness portrayed by police increased the rate of displeasure amidst victims and hence furthering trauma (Achterstraat 2011). This report looks into the current policies and strategies that are impacting police responses to the domestic violence. It also focus of the Term of Reference from AAW (2008),“Accountability: ensuring that the response from the police, prosecution teams, community and courts provide an effective response to domestic and family violence, to send a clear message to perpetrators that committing violence is not acceptable, and holding them accountable for their …show more content…

It also will highlight the current gaps contributed to the issue and provided some recommendation as below: GAPs
• There is not a vital link between the police, community, and advocators to eliminate the fear that exists between the police and the victims.
• There is a lack of female officers and family workers from Indigenous and diverse communities in police departments
Our Recommendation:
• There is a need for a vital link between the police, community, and advocators to eliminate the fear that exists between the police and the victims. Also, their advocators will have valuable points to present their cases in courts.
• The need for more female police officers from diverse communities and Aboriginal family violence workers is heightened with growing cultural diversity.
