Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that was started about one hundred years ago and provides reproductive healthcare needs to mainly those of low-income or the uninsured. They provide information and education of sexually transmitted diseases, they can prescribe birth control to women, and they also give out contraceptives. All of this is on a donation basis. This organization seems to do a lot of good for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford good healthcare. So why is it then that some government officials are wishing to defund this organization? It seems that some videos of Planned Parenthood officials have been leaked, and apparently they are talking about selling the body parts of aborted fetuses. According tom The Never Ending Fight, Republicans are arguing that the issue here is that people don’t know what is going on at Planned Parenthood behind closed doors, while Democrats are saying that this isn’t the issue here at all. Planned Parenthood is a “non-profit organization that provides sexual health care in the United States and globally” (Plannedparenthood.org). This includes supplying birth control and contraceptives, testing and treating STDs, and giving abortions. Planned Parenthood has received funding since Nixon in the 1970s when he amended the Public Health Service Act, but recently uproar around the idea of the government funding of Planned Parenthood started (Our History, Planned Parenthood.org).

When the taxpayer-funded liberal group isn't selling baby body parts for profit, Planned Parenthood is seeking to indoctrinate children that killing unborn children is acceptable.

We are especially focused on are young female adults and 3rd world countries who tend to have higher unplanned pregnancies and STI rates. Our interest group is interested specifically in attracting women ages 15 to 44 to prevent unwanted pregnancies. You can see this through our ads. Most of our ads are aimed at ending teen pregnancy. This means that we will aim to show ads at times and on channels that attract that kind of audience. These ads aren’t promoting people to join Planned Parenthood though they are more informational. We also have all the information of our upcoming activities on our website and you can sign up for “action alerts” which is an email newsletter that automatically updates and notifies you about our interest group’s activities. We have active use of Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube and Instagram which are constantly updated with pictures and information of fundraisers and other special events. Planned Parenthood is a controversial topic sweeping the nation of America with political and moral issues. Every day one could come across a new article on it, stubble upon a news article in their local paper or even on their local news station. This practice caused Planned Parenthood to be criticized and brought under more scrutiny then they face on a daily basis for being an abortion center. It is common practice to see picketers who are pro-lifers standing outside Planned Parenthood businesses holding signs proclaiming the right to life. But when two videos became public that demonstrated Planned Parenthood officials talking about the sales of aborted fetus body parts, the heat on Planned Parenthood went from warm to a blazing inferno and funding was immediately pulled from Planned Parenthood. The videos were a major rallying point for many Americans who are opposed to abortion. In fact the videos aided pro-lifers as they went after the government demanding that funding be stopped to Planned Parenthood clinics.
