I was able to talk with Rachel Azucena few minutes ago, she said that she did not know the term plagiarism, so I explained why plagiarism is bad and has consequences. The idea of a report is to demonstrate that she read the book and that she is able to express (in this case in Spanish) her own understanding/knowledge in writing and not somebody else's. I just got done reading an article called, “School Cheating Scandal Tests a Town’s Values” (Wilgorean). It was about sophomores at Piper High School in Kansas, that plagiarized on a biology project. In addition, the high school had a community board meeting. Many people showed up for the meeting. One of the teachers in the school found out that 28 out of 118 sophomores, copied different sections of the project on the Internet (Wilgoren). So, the students got zeroes and failed the semester. For that reason, parents got furious with the school board, the teacher changed the students’ grades, and she resigned.
