The problem I would like to solve is pet overpopulation. I believe this is a major problem that the US faces and something has to be done. I have always been an animal lover and cared about animals very much. My eyes to the pet overpopulation problem were not opened until some years back when I adopted my first dog as a kid. When I walked into the shelter I became very upset to see so many innocent and loving animals in a small kennel waiting for a family to take them home and give them a new opportunity in life.
The resources I found are good. They provide an insight on the problem and many give statistics that can put this problem into perspective. Having a number to hang onto can really help the audience see the severity of the issue.
If I could resolve any inequities in my community it would be for everyone to treat everyone the same, sure if we lived in a perfect world that would happen,
"Why breed or buy while shelter animals die?" Animal breeding is becoming a growing issue in the world, more and more people are breeding and buying not only dogs, but other animals too. Animal rescue centers around the globe are being filled to their maximum capacity with homeless, needing, and deserving animals. Overpopulation is a big issue with animal breeding, some breeders are for exotic or endangered animals such as Ocelots, Rhinos, and Pandas, but other people are breeding domestic animals such as Dogs or Cats. There are already too many domestic animals in our world and these breeders are making it even worse. Overpopulated animal breeding should be illegal because it is wrong, there is a myth that purebred animals are superior, and the fact that shelters or animal rescue centers have an extensive choice of animals to pick from.
Hello everyone, my name is Katrina Clark. So, imagine one day you were ripped away from your family and from your home with nowhere to go, in the street, cold, starving, and have absolutely no idea where your next meal is going to come from. Well, for over 7 million animals each year that is the sad reality. I personally own around ten cats that were either from a shelter or on the street starving. I also own two dogs that I have found on the road that had been dumped and left to die. My experience with adopting these animals has truly opened my eyes to how many animals are truly in need of homes. All of these animals are sweet blessings that I wouldn’t trade for the world. If I can find loving furry friends that I love, then so can you. With
I would argue against the housing provider’s “no pet policy” by invoking laws that support the physically and mentally disabled. Under the “The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)” and the “Fair Housing Act (FHAct)”, service animals by law are excluded from “no pet rules” (ADA and FHAct n.p.). The purpose of the exclusion is that service animals are trained to perform specific tasks to improve a person with special needs quality of life (ADA and FHAct n.p.). According to ADA and FHAct service animals such as guide or signal dogs provide support to the vision and hearing impaired to improve upon their quality of life (ADA and FHAct n.p.). Furthermore, service animals are used by a person with special needs for protection, as well as
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that the public is to blame for the pet overpopulation epidemic.
My passion is to help animals. There are a lot of animals that are killed in shelters but there are thousands of dogs being bred in puppy mills that don't have homes. The global context that goes with my project the best is fairness and development because every living creature has rights and no dog should be treated the way they are in puppy mills. My goal for this project is to raise awareness against puppy mills. The dogs in puppy mills and shelters will benefit from my project. I love animals and my heart breaks every time I see something about a puppy mill.
The Jake’s Pet Land case study is an example of leadership and follower situations, highlighting the key points of each role within an organization. This case is a study on how the leader-member exchange (LMX) impacts the outcomes of workplaces. According to Daft, LMX is individualized leader model that explores how the relationship between leader and follower develops over time and how the quality of the exchange relationship affects outcomes (Daft, 2015, p. 54). The LMX in many cases is the foundation an organization is built upon, because of this comes a great understanding between management and subordinates. There is a massive difference between being a manager and an effective leader, and throughout Jake’s Pet Land case study this notion is very evident.
Countless lives locked away in cages and forgotten about have overwhelmed our society, it has left blood stains on our history as a species and if history has taught us anything, it’s that we have a choice to change our ways of adjusting to situations. A war which was fought in pursuit of ending such criminal means, yet we as human beings do little to nothing to end the horrific crimes of animal deaths in shelters. It is no secret that this world has become infused with problems that have extended from one side of the globe to the other. Amongst these problems lies a terrible truth: nearly every year, sums of almost eight million cats and dogs have been placed in shelters around the world. Out of these vast numbers, half will be
I would like to start with problem number one our economy; it’s in a dismal state due to high taxes and over spending of the government. I would
If I had an opportunity to solve one problem, it would be to empower poverty stricken families. This is a major issue in America where families enter into the system of government assistance and cannot or are not willing to overcome their economic dispositions. In most cases the cycle of government dependency is passed down several generations. This issue is significant to me because the area I am from is filled with parents who have used and abused the system for decades. I see mothers and fathers unwilling to provide for their children because they are too dependent on government assistance. Most parents on government assistance use their children as a base-line to abuse the system. I have seen on several occasions where parents receive Work First, Snap, and Medicaid benefits and
A pack of dogs is playing in a ditch which is in the middle of a busy road. Some people in the cars look to see if the dogs' owner is nearby and wonder why anyone would allow their dogs to play so close to danger. Some drivers seem oblivious to the motley assortment romping in the water next to the road. They all keep driving without another thought for the safety or lives of those poor creatures. Unfortunately, this is a common scene in many areas. Unwanted dogs and cats are dumped to fend for themselves because there just are not enough homes for all of them. Where have these unwanted animals come from? The huge population is attributed to out of control breeding due to irresponsible owners, breeding by
The best way we can help solve the issue is by getting our own pets spayed or neutered.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form
Chuck Palahnikuk, American novelist and freelance journalist, once ask “When did the future switch from being a promise to a threat?” This question rings true for all of us on a global scale for society. Our population growth has exploded since 1967, let alone back in 1750. Since 1967, the world population has doubled and annually grows around 80 million people a year; that’s around 2.5 people every Second. Societies speculation of overpopulation has went from a probability to a growing fear of what the future may hold for the global economy. Some countries have taken measures, either by law or trend, to lower population growth yet and some have no idea where to start or don’t have to monetary assets to fund such an idea. I have done a thorough look into the population problem and possible solutions in helping ease the growth of all countries and not just a select few. Although the explosion of growth is mostly due to good things such as; technological innovations, an increase in methods of sanitation, a better medical care set up to help those who need it, an increase in agricultural output and advancements, and other factors such as medicines and proper medical staff which has lead to a dramatic decrease in infant mortality rate. Birth rates have out spaced death rates by at least a couple years; but are all this a great thing? Is there any way for us to slow growth without jeopardizing our own existence? How long can we continue on this path before extreme measures must
Every day in the United States, approximately 10,000 people and 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. There will never be enough homes for all of these animals, and as a result millions are killed by animal control or die by themselves every year. If people would adopt their pets from a rescue or shelter, and not buy from pet stores or breeders, many lives would be saved and a lot of misery would be averted. Also, you end up with a great animal.
