I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: We will be doing a 30-second skit at the beginning. What we will cover in the skit: two friends waiting for the bus to get to class. One is already running late the other is on time and is not in a rush. The bus, however, is late by 15 minutes and the two students waiting will now be late for their classes. One student is in a Communications class and that will be their third absence. Now their academic grade will be affected.
B. Relevance: As most of you know, attendance is crucial for you to do well in your classes. It’s also crucial to be on time. However; there are 30,320 students who live off campus and rely on the Bobcat shuttle transportation system to get them from their homes to class on time (Texas

C. Visualization: Being part of the Texas State community, the solution that most of us can agree on is one where it will be an advantage to us and affect students in a positive, convenient way.
1. Texas State has over 30,000 students who live off campus, and a massive portion of them depend on the Bobcat shuttle. As a student that lives off campus, this means that you will have to start your day earlier than you usually would have to, since that you never know what complication the bus might experience (Texas State University, 2017) Complications can result in missing class and impacting academic performance.
a. Even though there are other options like buying a parking pass, many students try to avoid purchasing one because of how expensive it can be. Also, many students who live off campus actually live close enough to walk or ride a bike and do not need to rely on the Texas States Shuttles.
b. Furthermore, many students do not want to buy a parking permit because the Texas State Bobcat shuttle is already part of the student’s tuition, so why not use it as a form of
Tardies ranged from 0-83 times. Upon analyzing this attendance data it becomes clear that student tardy rates significantly impact student performance in CSI classes.
Students will park in the front parking lot only to allow for visitor parking. We encourage students to carpool or ride the bus because parking is extremely limited. We will have staff members directly student parking efforts, both in the morning and at lunch.
In order to guarantee the safety of Claflin’s students, the administration must change the university’s transportation system. The freshmen students are not permitted to drive and they do not receive transportation they need. There are only two Walmart trips throughout the week and this does not satisfy the needs of the students. Moreover, the transportation van does not take students to doctor’s appointments and this is irrational and outrageous. If a group of students want to eat lunch at McDonald’s, they should be allowed to use the van services if the driver is still on campus. However, if the van driver is busy or absent, the students must walk to their
While this is a good thing to help bring people to the area all the while getting their education, these students aren’t exactly bringing more parking spots with them when they come to attend this school. Meaning more students every semester and less parking places as well. This can cause a variety of issues, and since we are attending this school and using this parking lot we elected to take advantage of its convenience and research the current issues that the overly full parking lot are beginning to cause for students and faculty alike.
One con would be that the school would have to obtain a warrant to search the vehicle if the student declined to let them. Also the student may be able to take their car home before a warrant was obtained and get away with whatever they may of had. The school would then be able to search the car if it came back on campus again. Although there are some cons to this idea, there are many pros as well such as students would feel more comfortable parking on campus because they will not be worried about their car getting searched through without them there.
The importance of students being able to leave the school campus for their lunch hour is a great tool for them to learn the importance of returning to campus on time shows and also teaches responsibility on the student's behalf.
The University of North Texas is one of the largest universities in Texas. The university has around 35,000 students that commute or live on campus. As the result of this, the university doesn’t have enough parking spots for students and staff member due new construction of buildings for classes and Greek Life. This causes students and staff members to wander around through different parking lots to find a parking spots. There have been some cases were students looked for parking spot for 30 minute to 1 hour. This causes students to be late to classes and their jobs. At the University of North Texas, parking spot after 8:40 AM parking spot is hard to find. This means that people’s that have 11:00 AM class and commute, they have to leave their
It is ashame and many people go through this regularly. Students have to rush into class every morning and fill the spots available in the parking lot. Most of them wind up parking in awkward and technically illegal spots including on driving lanes, bus lanes, and no loading/parking zones. During the work day, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. the only place students can legally park around Delgado is in the lots around campus, all other areas are restricted!Something must be done about this! To solve the problem of towing vehicles of students or faculty, school administrators need to make a deal with the city of New Orleans to make rules for parking around the campus more lenient for students, or just not charge them for parking at all. Delgado is considered by some nothing more than a small community college whose parking spaces seem very equivalent to the students that go there, but over the last couple of years Delgado has grown and the number of students that
Sometimes you will have a class outside and can’t get to and from that class in time. If you have a locker that is
If you are used to showing your student ID to get into your local movie theater for a discounted price, you are probably already aware of the benefits you can get by being a student. You may not have thought of how local self-storage facilities
Students are forced to park in other places on campus and some choose to disregard the signs posted for reserved parking. This is a bit risky because vehicles parking in violation of university regulations may be towed and impounded. For example, a freshman living in the valleys would get an F parking permit. The only places they can legally park with this are up the hill by the dorms, by the rec. center, and on high levels of a parking structure by the Bernhard Center, which is a popular place for students to eat out at, or buy things at the school store. Each parking lot is restricted to parking for a specific type of permit. Only vehicles displaying the same type of permit may park in that lot. During fall and winter semesters, residence hall lots with the designations A, C, F, K, and Z are restricted 24 hours a day for vehicles displaying the same type of permit. Many students choose to ignore these letters and just park there anyway, taking the risk of being ticketed or possibly toed. Campus police walks around especially at night and tickets every car parked illegally or calls in for a toe truck to help out. Seven different parking lots that may seem convenient when students are looking for a spot are restricted to employee parking 24 hours per day, leaving many students frustrated,
There have been many reasons why on-campus parking has become difficult in recent years. Increased student enrollment at Kent State University has posed many problems. The parking lots cannot facilitate the growing need for vehicle parking. Campus officials have undertaken construction projects to curb the parking problem, but these renovations have closed lots in the near term. Also, the increased enrollment of
Why do students and their parents pay such a large amount of money to attend the University of Dayton if there is not going to be any place for parking? I am a first year student at the university so I understand that I am not permitted to have my car on campus (Handbook). My boyfriend on the other hand, lives at least a half hour away and comes to visit me several times a week. He arrives and has to drive for a very long time trying to find a place to park where he will not receive a ticket. He has tried to park everywhere we can think of, but it never seems to work out. The first few times he came over public safety/the police department was willing to give out temporary permits for visitors and
Typical, it is 7:31 am Monday morning and I am running late. Knowing it will take approximately twenty minutes for me to make it to 8:00 am lecture on time, I grab my book bag hastily lock my apartment door and fly down the slightly stained cement stairs. In less than sixty-seconds, I miraculously made it from the third to the first floor without falling. I congratulate myself and hop in my old reliable dusty gray, 2011 Toyota. At last, I arrive to campus just in time to park in the closest lot near the School of Nursing building making it to my first lecture of the day with ten minutes to spare. This seems like a small and normal morning routine for some, for others who do not have
On the FGCU website, there is a section called ‘Transportation’ that shows all of the opportunities students get to utilize. If not the shuttles, there is carpooling, bicycle rentals, and car rentals that are offered to students 18 years and up. Campus shuttles are used by the majority of FGCU students that live on campus. These shuttles are made so that students can have transportation other than walking. Although campus shuttles can be beneficial in many ways, there are some people who do not take the shuttles for numerous reasons.
