The University of North Texas is one of the largest universities in Texas. The university has around 35,000 students that commute or live on campus. As the result of this, the university doesn’t have enough parking spots for students and staff member due new construction of buildings for classes and Greek Life. This causes students and staff members to wander around through different parking lots to find a parking spots. There have been some cases were students looked for parking spot for 30 minute to 1 hour. This causes students to be late to classes and their jobs. At the University of North Texas, parking spot after 8:40 AM parking spot is hard to find. This means that people’s that have 11:00 AM class and commute, they have to leave their
On Wednesday, March 23, 2017, I, Officer B. McMillon, #135, of the Mansfield ISD Police Department while assigned to Legacy High School located at 1263 N. Main in Mansfield, Texas 76063. At Approximately 8:30 am LHS Teacher Hodges, told me that a white truck drive’s around the west student parking lot after school.
Traffic in downtown Austin, Texas is becoming a sever issue and is continuing to become slower and more congested every day. Austin ranks 4th on a list of U.S. cities with the least efficient roadways, and with its remarkable growth rate, the issue can only get worse. After reading numerous articles based on opinions and statements from local city planners and engineers, the best way to see an improvement in the traffic issue is to increase the amount of public transportation in the Austin area. The increase of public transportation would provide fast travel time and would help reduce the amount of money, commuters and locals use on gas by a substantial amount per year. Though many may argue the that we have enough public transportation already, reducing the number of personal vehicles on the road would decrease the amount of bumper to bumper traffic experienced on a daily basis, as well as increase the options for those commuting to the city every day. there are many possible solutions, such as widening the highways or even building them underground, these solutions however are not the most economically correct and productive way to relieve traffic downtown.
According to recent surveys conducted they depict that “70% of college age students own or have access to cars” (CollegeParents, 2015). This being said, parking on college campuses should be taken as a highly important matter. The parking policy at New Mexico State University has both its advantages and disadvantages. Being a student that attends NMSU I have experienced both. There are some things that I appreciate about the policy but there are also many concerns and factors that should be revaluated. The NMSU parking policy has many implications to the students, faculty, visitors, etc.
1. If they'd do something about the parking on campus, I wouldn't be late so often
The change of Northern Illinois University’s bus system is demanded throughout campus through various sources. The issue comes in hand of the student’s safety through afternoon times. Our current bus system puts not only the student’s safety on line but its staff as well. The fact of the line is, having one bus running throughout an 800 acres campus does not make it safe for students and staff to get from one place of campus to another. It’s a way to save money rather than helping students get around campus in a safe and efficient way. Although there will be more money needed to add the number of buses running after 7pm, the investment is crucial for students’ safety
As Dallas Fort Worth grows, we see more issues associated with our urban area. One of the major issues we are dealing with is the traffic throughout the city. The cause of traffic could be poor road management, lack of proper public transportation, or weather issues. There are many problems associated with traffic such as pollution, and the risks of having accidents which is further followed by physical and behavioral issues. One possible solution to the traffic congestion could be a better public transportation, which could be achieved by imposing heavy taxes on solo car drivers.
This is an enforcer when it comes to the right parking but many students know and want to abide by the parking rules.
Imagine waking up thirty minutes late the morning of your final exam, the sense of panic you feel as you are rushing to get dressed and then begin speeding through traffic to make it to the campus on time. Upon finally arriving, with less than fifteen minutes left to spare, there is absolutely nowhere for you to park your car in the parking garage. Stressful situations such as these happen on a daily basis for college students attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), the issue of parking deficiencies at UNLV is becoming a more well-known and very prevalent among the college’s community. The absence of parking spots at UNLV is detrimental to students’ education because it causes problems such as tardiness, frustration added stress, and financial issues; all things that will eventually handicap the educational enrichment of the students that are enrolled.
As always, we have the crowded hallways, lines, and classrooms. More students mean more cars in the parking lot, which leaves most students late in the morning, and often upset when looking for parking. No one wants to spend all of their time searching for a parking spot!
Furthermore, many students do not want to buy a parking permit because the Texas State Bobcat shuttle is already part of the student’s tuition, so why not use it as a form of
The problem with using the ATA bus system to solve the campus parking problem is the location of the bus stops, the time waiting for the bus, and the cost of the bus if the stop is off campus. The free stops on campus are only located within campus. Off-campus students will still have to find a way to get to campus to get on the bus. If a student wants to get on an ATA bus outside of campus they will be charged a fee. Another problem is students do not want to wait on the buses to get to their stop or if the miss a stop they have no way to get to
It is ashame and many people go through this regularly. Students have to rush into class every morning and fill the spots available in the parking lot. Most of them wind up parking in awkward and technically illegal spots including on driving lanes, bus lanes, and no loading/parking zones. During the work day, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. the only place students can legally park around Delgado is in the lots around campus, all other areas are restricted!Something must be done about this! To solve the problem of towing vehicles of students or faculty, school administrators need to make a deal with the city of New Orleans to make rules for parking around the campus more lenient for students, or just not charge them for parking at all. Delgado is considered by some nothing more than a small community college whose parking spaces seem very equivalent to the students that go there, but over the last couple of years Delgado has grown and the number of students that
Students are forced to park in other places on campus and some choose to disregard the signs posted for reserved parking. This is a bit risky because vehicles parking in violation of university regulations may be towed and impounded. For example, a freshman living in the valleys would get an F parking permit. The only places they can legally park with this are up the hill by the dorms, by the rec. center, and on high levels of a parking structure by the Bernhard Center, which is a popular place for students to eat out at, or buy things at the school store. Each parking lot is restricted to parking for a specific type of permit. Only vehicles displaying the same type of permit may park in that lot. During fall and winter semesters, residence hall lots with the designations A, C, F, K, and Z are restricted 24 hours a day for vehicles displaying the same type of permit. Many students choose to ignore these letters and just park there anyway, taking the risk of being ticketed or possibly toed. Campus police walks around especially at night and tickets every car parked illegally or calls in for a toe truck to help out. Seven different parking lots that may seem convenient when students are looking for a spot are restricted to employee parking 24 hours per day, leaving many students frustrated,
Additional parking stickers mean additional fees for the student. College is already expensive, extra fees are just a way for the college to get more money. Since all vehicles must have a parking permit I have to go get a temporary parking permit every time I use other vehicles. This is time consuming and having to go by the campus police to get a parking permit is inconvenient. I work a full time job as well as going to college full time, so my time is limited. I drop my youngest son off at school on my way to campus, so my mornings are already busy. As soon as class is over, I go straight to work. I leave work to come straight to campus for evening classes. Sometimes, I have just enough time to get to class. If I have to stop
There have been many reasons why on-campus parking has become difficult in recent years. Increased student enrollment at Kent State University has posed many problems. The parking lots cannot facilitate the growing need for vehicle parking. Campus officials have undertaken construction projects to curb the parking problem, but these renovations have closed lots in the near term. Also, the increased enrollment of
