“For days, we've despaired about the fate of the people who are trapped in the North. Today, there is cause for hope. Only a few hours ago, I received word that a small group of people survived in New York City against all odds and in the face of tremendous adversity. I've ordered an immediate search-and-rescue mission to bring them home and to look for more survivors.”
I - Now president - Becker kept this promise. The army has sent down a few hundred helicopters to the north to search for anyone who survived the freezing in the north. Everybody found will immediately be flown down to Texas to be treated in one of our 365 hospitals to double check that everyone is safe and healthy. While in the hospitals the police will be taking names to help find family and our friends who survived while trying to find out who might not have. I will continue to be the president since our president’s plane sadly crashed due to the weather. Our government will stay remotely the same however we have to move our ‘white house’ to a different location. The new location will be at the Symphony Towers in San-Diego Texas. We advise everyone to not panic and to please stay in your towns while the police try to track down everyone's family. However anybody that is still alive and receiving this message in the northern part of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee Virginia and North Carolina we advise you to move south because you are currently in our caution zone. There are only three of these zones I speak of. The dead zone, ( 37° latitude) where sadly everything is frozen or covered in mountains of snow. The caution zone are the places just pervious listed. The caution zone is also going to be pretty cold. We will most likely move scientist and soldiers up there to protect and find out how to fix this issue but we would appreciate if anybody still up there relocate to a much safer place however Florida is currently flooded and California is torn up from the tornado. There is also the freebie zone MEANING you can live anywhere in that zone as long as no one is occupying the place already. Most are lucky to still have a have but some are not so if you can offer a place to live that
On June 4th, 2015, a severe thunderstorm dumped up to 6 inches of rain in only a few hours and inundated the tiny Wyoming town of Lusk. The population of Lusk is roughly 1,500 people, located about 250 miles north of Denver and is the seat of Niobrara County, it is also the least populated county in the least populated state. Flash flooding is not unusual in Wyoming but rare for Lusk, said Tim Trudel, a National Weather Service forecaster in Cheyenne. (Moen, B. & Gruver, M. 2015) This night, Lusk would feel the brunt of a flash flood. How did the Incident Command System respond in such a small town, were mistakes made and what could have been done differently or better?
Going into the winter months, the need for a quick recovery of the infrastructure was imminent. Thousands of civilians without the means for electricity or heat could prove more devastating than the storm itself. The threat of freezing to death or being snowed in and potentially starving can add to one’s anguish and deteriorating mental state. A quick and decisive response from the state and cities was applied in order to minimize any unwanted
On August 5, 2010, Raul Villegas was driving a truck deep in the San José mine in northern Chile when 700,000 tons of rock fell onto the road behind him. Villegas made it out, but 33 minors were left trapped 2,000 feet below the surface (Rutan). The news of this disaster shocked the world and caught the attention of millions, all wondering how the 33 minors were going to be rescued. When the collapse happened the 33 men below had no idea what they were in store for (Getlen).
It's happening, they are tearing down my house. It's the black blizzard here in Oklahoma. Most people have left this dreadful time in Oklahoma. My family has stayed for a while until they started tearing down the houses. Me my mom my dad and my brother are really sad. We lived here
You wake up gasping. Outside air fills your lungs. Frosty water smoldering your body. Opening your eyes, a blinding white room pierces your vision. A voice issues into your head, "You have been resuscitated by your cherishing government. You have encountered a close demise experience. It would be ideal if you recollect than deliberate erasure is not allowed in the United Kingdom. In the event that you wish to be erased, please exhibit your application to a nearby office." Slowly, you hurl your new body off a coroner's table. The world influences somewhat. Wandering through a corridor loaded with trash, you achieve the high arcing front entryway. Scarcely amazing any longer, you go under the disintegrating workmanship without a second look.
The next item needing attention is search and rescue. Time is critical, as the tornado likely has left an unknown number of people wounded or trapped. A slow response could cost people their lives, as well as increase anxiety and panic levels among those with missing family members. Calling in the Federal Search and Rescue team(s) would be the most appropriate way to deal with this situation. In this particular case, the
(I have talked about early detection, but what if it is too late? What if you are already a victim?)
Thank goodness. You’re okay. Wait, you did what? Have you lost your marbles or am I dreaming? You could’ve died.
POSITIVE THINKING IS A MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL ATTITUDE THAT FOCUSES ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE AND EXPECTS POSTIVE RESULTS.
In comparison to the other examples mentioned in this essay the images in this ad are relatively tame and the real-life stories that have inspired it are nothing we haven’t seen on the news before. What it is that’s so shocking and effective about this ad is the location and the characters used to get the message across. The video is set in the UK which shocks the audience to see their country in this state of chaos far more than the imagery on screen. This literally brings the problem closer to home and presents it in a way most will have never seen before, a quote from Jess Crombie deputy creative director at Save the children explains this "We knew the viewer would not expect to see the streets of London to be war-torn, and its children forced to become refugees. This contrast makes it more relatable to
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
Hello everybody. I'm going to show you some pictures and I want you to think about the first emotion that comes to mind. Now I'm sure these pictures made you feel sad, negative, depressed, pity, and a lot of other negative emotions. Now i'm going to show you another set of pictures and I want you to do same thing as you did with the last pictures. These pictures have been voted on and determined that these are the happiest pictures on the internet. Why you may ask? Because genetically we are all wired to like cute things such as babies or cute animals. We can use this genetic wiring to our advantage, just looking at these pictures improves your efficiency, your short-term happiness, and caught your attention better than just looking at a picture of a carrot or say one of zak’s many selfies. (Martinez-Conde). Now that i've got you attention I want you to raise your hand if you ever been taught what causes happiness, the benefits being happy has, or how to become happier.. The fact that *if everyone raises their hand pivot to something else* almost no one in this room has been taught these things is insane to me. This is telling of the ideas that we have as a society concerning happiness. What I'm trying to say is that as a culture we need to redefine happiness as something that needs to be constantly worked towards and is not something easily attainable. I'm going to start off with with talking about the problem we have with happiness. Next we're going to talk about what effects are caused by being unhappy and finally we're going to talk about ways you can become happier.
Today we’re facing a big problem, it’s not a new one but an on-going one and it has been going on for decades. What is poverty? Poverty is the state of not being able to afford basic needs, in other words, it is the condition of being tremendously poor. It is a matter which has troubled the nation for thousands of years. To eradicate extreme poverty and hunger is one of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Around 21,000 people die every day because of extreme hunger. If they don’t have money, they won’t be able to afford food, water and shelter. Therefore, they’re constantly malnourished, and get sick easily. This causes them to have less energy to work which causes them to become even poorer and hungrier. Usually, the first thing
You finally get home from a long day at school. You through your backpack down carelessly and plop yourself
