Back in the past many have focused on drug and alcohol use in school students along with students carrying weapons to schools, and it seemed as if no one was recognizing the significance of school bullying. For victims of bullying, they go to school every day facing harassment, taunting, and humiliation. Kids today come home and kill themselves or never want to go back to school because of BULLYING. “Studies show that 25-35% of teens encountered some type of bullying in their lifetime (Nansel et al,).” Bullying is a form of violent behavior that happens not only in the schools but everywhere. Kids everywhere have been exposed to bullying in school for generations and ages . Although bullying has always been a factor the consequences for …show more content…
The outcome of physical violence can cause a grave threat to those students who cannot defend themselves or don't know how to deal with bullies.
Physical bullying can result in many extreme outcomes. The bully creates dangerous physical harm to their victims and in today society EVERY victim has a breaking point and retaliates in a violent way. Victims of bullying get thoughts of suicide, cutting themselves, low self esteem, and also wanting to become a bully because its happening to them. Unfortunately there are a lot of students and staff today and parents do not feel like their schools are a safe place to go because of the types of bullying that occur. Today there have been several devastating acts of school shootings that traumatizes the minds of staff and student . One of the examples of an bullied victim retaliation is of the kids from the Columbine shooting, where two kids who were bullied went on a murderous shooting rampage killing the lives of many at their schools and taking their own. Things like the Columbine shooting makes students afraid and scared to go to school. Schools today need to become a safe environment for students not a place of fear. There shouldn’t be one child in the United States to be afraid to go to school. Today Teachers, Principles, need to develop a plan to minimize the bullying and let students know they are safe and should not be in any type of fear when they cross through the doors of the school

“The great majority of school shootings are perpetrated by victims of bullying.” states Izzy Kalman (qtd in Kalman) I believe that school violence can be stemmed from bullying. The violence is often caused by the victims of bullying or the bullies themselves. I was bullied as a child and I remember how humiliated I would feel some days. Over time, that humiliation turned into anger, and in turn I wanted to hurt those that had hurt me. I never did hurt anyone, but that isn’t always the case. Bullying is a problem that is not taken seriously enough and can lead to school shootings and suicide.
Why is it that we do not take action until tragedy strikes? A school should be one of the safest environments for a child or young adult to be in. Schools should be working harder to inforce bully free zones. Bullies are what causes students to feel that they need to take out all their anger on others, and sometimes those results are catastrophic.
The intended audience for this paper includes elementary and high school students, counselor, parents, school faculty members, and people from any age group of 10 and above. (27 words)
Nothing is more irritating than when I hear about someone who is either getting bullied or being the bully. Active bullying is not something that should even be a thing in this world, but it is, and it is inevitable to happen. Imagine going to school everyday and not hearing about any drama for your whole high school career. Yes, it is very hard to imagine because almost every school has dealt with some sort of drama, but think of how much more would get accomplished and how many more people would succeed in this world without taking their own life or needing help for everything. Everything in life would be so much simpler and students, teachers, workers, etc., could probably learn more and have a much better lifestyle if no one had to
Nearly 30 percent of teens are bullied regularly and more than 70 percent say bullying is a problem in their school. Bullying is everywhere, and sometimes you don’t even notice it. Students at EMS don’t get the support they need when it comes to bullying. Most students are afraid that if they tell a teacher or an adult, the bullying will get worse. I was shy all throughout elementary school and there was this one boy who thought it was okay to bully me and others. He would insult me, my family, and my friends everyday at school. I told my mom about the bullying and she went into the school to talk to the principal superintendent. They never did anything about the bully and he continued to bully me and others. He made me feel less than everyone else in the school and I absolutely wouldn't want anyone to feel the way i did. I’m glad that i spoke up but for others it could be harder for them. When it comes to bullying , Students ar EMS do not receive the necessary support because students are afraid of speaking up, and if they are a bystander, they are afraid of becoming the next victim to the bully and we need to shut the bully down before they strike again and hurt someone.
What if you were terrified to go to your school every day? 160,000 students miss school each day because they get bullied and are scared of what will happen (“Bullying Statistics”). Bullying has been a major problem in schools for far too long. Students should not be scared to go to a place that is supposed to be safe and where they can express themselves. Students that bully never get the punishment they deserve, which causes them to continue to act. When you go to school, you should know that if you are getting treated in a horrific way, the people who were treating you that way will get punished. Students who bully should be suspended from school.
Judging a book by its cover is not the first thing you should do when meeting or seeing
There is a boy sitting alone in the corner of his room, the same thought runs through his head each and everyday. He wonders if his parents would even notice or if they would even miss him. As the blood drips down from his arms, he decides that enough is enough. He slowly walks down the stairs to his dad’s gun closet and pulls out the most quiet gun there is and makes his way back to his room. The relentless bullying cannot continue if he is no longer here on earth to be bullied. Although people all over the world do not know it, they take part in bullying at some point in their lives.
Seventeen-year-old, Sally Jensen does not have a great home-life. Her parents spend all their money on drugs, which makes they have very little to no money to spend on their needs. Therefore, she does not have good clothes or hygiene items. At school, she gets made fun of for the way she smells and looks. Then one day Sally’s had enough. At school, the principal announces her lost. Guilt weighing heavy on the bullies’ heart. Saying, “I did not know, she would die.”, “I was just kidding.”, or “I did not mean it.” It is funny how they did not mean it when suddenly they have blood on their hands.
When bullying victims become shooters they usually attack the popular students who have bullied them or others. The number in 2003 of children and teens killed by guns in school shootings could fill 113 classrooms of 25 students each. Because of bullying In the article School Shootings states, “In 2007 there were about 10 such shootings, the most notable of which occurred at Virginia Tech, where 32 people were killed before the gunman … took his own life.” School shootings usually end with many deaths. About half of victims who do not die from bullet wounds have very severe effects that they are brain dead. These shootings cause traumatic and long lasting effects on the well being of students.
There are many different ways students are bullied. Bullying can put the victim on the edge of taking their life. Social bullying for example, is usually extremely aggressive, because other kids will decide to help out the bully instead of the victim, they form a clique that gangs up on the target. The bully can as well harm you using verbal, cyber, or physical bullying. Verbal bullying hurts you more on the inside, by all the name calling and inaccurate facts, like rumors and other misrepresentations Physical bullying on the other hand, hurts more on the outside than the inside. It can include punching, kicking, pulling hair, and spitting. The
“Ha, it’s Mr. Caveman who somehow got accepted into this school without a tablet,” exclaims my annoying bully. He turns, does a 180, smashes my desk and yells, “Did that startle you? You baby!”
Individuals often seek others opinions about themselves, while the outcome isn’t always positive. Words are the most destructive acts that people use as a form of bullying; I know this because I was a victim. Being sensitive to these words that these bullies spit out, led to a buried chest of awful feelings. Some of these feelings were in no position to be hidden. Learning how to let out my feelings and let others in has been so important and life changing for me, both then and now as I continue to run into these negative people, the bullies.
On August 13th, 2016 there was an article put out on heavy.com about a teenage boy named Daniel Fitzpatrick who earlier that week committed suicide. Many family members were in disbelief about the incident and even more when they found a note he had left behind explaining why he had chosen to do this to himself. Included In the note was the sentence, “I gave up”. (Daniel Fitzpatrick-2016) All throughout high school, Daniel had suffered from school bullying. When he tried to inform his teachers of the problems that were taking place on school grounds, nothing was done to punish the students who were bullying him. In the note, he stated, “The teachers, they didn’t do anything either”. So, when Daniel felt like there was no help, he took his own life.
Along with looking for signs of violence or bullying, most educators would argue that to prevent violence in schools there needs to be a
