Marijuana Legalization The United States is divided with the controversial topic of legalizing marijuana with opposes proclaiming it is a drug and has considerable side effects, and supporters saying it had been proven to be beneficial medically. More than twenty states have legalized medical marijuana, and seven have legalized recreational marijuana. In all, marijuana should be legalized for it has many medical benefits, and is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco. Medical marijuana can be beneficial for various afflictions. Marijuana can help people have a higher pain tolerance as well as helping people feel less anxious, nauseous, etc... People with neurodegenerative diseases usually have issues with their memory, apathy, anxiety, agitation,
Legalizing marijuana for health and municipal purposes in the United States Of America, personally I think it's a great idea. A lot of other people don't think legalizing marijuana is the greatest idea in the world, they think that people will use it in the wrong ways and not to help with any diseases that it can kill. Legalizing marijuana in the United States should be done because it can help people with diseases that they can’t fix with just any medicine, it can kill most deadly diseases, and it keeps people from taking multiple pills a day.
Have you ever wondered when and why marijuana was made illegal? The herbal plant, commonly used in medicines, was not considered a drug in the early 1900s. The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 banned the use and sales of marijuana. This act was put in place due to careless slander. Marijuana, in America should be legalized because it is safer than alcohol and tobacco, marijuana funds gangs and cartels, and marijuana can replace toxic, addictive pharmaceuticals.
Cannabis is widely known for its advantages on the improvement that it has on various diseases. It has been proven that marijuana can help/treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), arthritis, cancer, epilepsy, chronic pain, and depression, just to name a few. According to an article on CNN, patients with PTSD stated that there are way too many medications that they are obligated to take to help with their disorder and with this marijuana plant they have made much progress and seem to be more commencing on day-to-day life. Arthritis is when your joints begin to get inflamed and causes restraint which may make daily life more difficult, therefore many people use marijuana to reduce swelling of the joints and also reduce the over usage of opioids that can potentially be life threatening. Studies also show that cannabis has made a tremendous difference on cancer patients. Cancer can cause nausea, vomiting, fatigue and lack of hunger, THC (which causes the “high” feeling that everyone raves about) and CBD (interacts with the human body without giving you the “high”) are two components of pot which can be used to relieve the effects that cancer can have on a person. Along with many women in my family, my mother and aunt have used pot to help with their nausea, headaches, and their lack of hunger and has proven to them that it can help ease their pain after numerous chemotherapy treatments. There are many researches that have been made to assess the positive effect on pot and cancer. In 2007 there was a study done by the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco which stated that the use of CBD in marijuana can even help prevent cancer from spreading. Another disease that is widely known around the world is depression; marijuana has been used as a
Marijuana accounted for 4.2 million of the 7 million americans struggling with substance abuse/dependence. Marijuana should not be legal, it's said to cause mental problems and addiction.
Not legalizing the use of medical marijuana also known as Cannabis, while keeping harmful substances legal like alcohol and tobacco seems absurd, especially since marijuana is not a harmful to the body. By punishing the use of marijuana, it ruins an individual’s career and economic opportunity; it is a drain on the US economy to have to support the largest prison system due to minor misdemeanors such as the possession of this medicinal plant. Legalizing medical marijuana for its medicinal properties help those people with chronic conditions, decreases the death rate due to pharmaceutical medicines and will boost the economy instead of draining it. The American people will be able to raise the economy and take it off the diminishing path in which it has been going.
Today’s society is a never ending circle of evolving what is considered normal. Along with revolutionary new legalizations made recently, medical marijuana is on the rise and continues to be an ongoing debate. For decades, marijuana has been labeled “the gateway drug” and has negative perception linked to it. In recent years, many people have begun to look past these common thoughts and consider its positive characteristics. New studies have shown information on the benefits of marijuana use and the lives it may be able to help. Medical marijuana needs to be a legalized drug throughout the entire United States. The use of cannabis provides aid to many different sicknesses, continues to be made easier and safer to handle, and has shown advantages in areas that have already legalized it.
The plant marijuana has caused quite a problem in the US for the past few years. The debate on whether the drug should be legalized has split the nation in two. Some argue that the drug only has negative effects; people under its influence are unable to think rationally and act out in dangerous ways, severing ties with their family and potentially losing their jobs. Others argue that while this can be true, more studies should be conducted to learn about marijuana, because past tests have uncovered marijuana has medicinal benefits.
The legalization of marijuana should be our next big milestone. This plant helps people with anxiety, depression and people with drug problems. These people who have drug problems are sometimes the causes of the crime rate. Marijuana was a relief to many people who are suffering from abuse, loss, regret and stress. Marijuana can be used as an alternative to pills. People with depression and anxiety often are addicted to the pills, and those addictions are one of the leading causes of death today.
It is not a secret that drugs have been present in our society since man came to the earth; to speak of drugs is also to talk about the history of mankind in some way. The marijuana has been present in different cultures through years. Times have changed and how society use marijuana has changed as well. According to the World Health Organization marijuana it is the most popular recreational drug with the biggest percentage of users per country is marijuana.
Medical marijuana has been illegal under federal law for much too long and it is time to change that. Over the past years, much progress has been made inducing 28 states and Washington DC to have legalized medical marijuana at the state level. This is not the big goal though, we need to allow people to be able to be medicated properly and get the help they need to overcome or battle they’re sickness. We need to legalize medical marijuana in all states because their are people who are fighting for their lives who need this medication. It’s time our government stops classifying marijuana as a drug that we put on the same class as heroin, and legalize medical marijuana once and for all.
Marijuana has been used in herbal remedies for centuries. Scientists have found biologically active things in marijuana called cannabinoids. The two best studied cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Currently, the United States Drug Enforcement Agency lists marijuana and its cannabinoids as Schedule I controlled substance. A Schedule I substance means that marijuana and cannabinoids can’t be prescribed, possessed, or sold under the federal law. Based on my research, I believe that medical marijuana should be used to treat cancer patients and patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Picture yourself feeling very sick and no medication will make you feel better. You go to the doctors and they keep on giving you more pills and again they still don't work. So they give you a prescription for something you never heard of. But it helps! What is it? Marijuana goes by many names but it's not just to get high.It needs to be legalized. it also has many medical benefits It can help with cancer,AIDS and HIV and it can also help with stress and Alzheimer's patients .[med ben]
The people who are against marijuana being permitted will probably say that if marijuana is permitted it would be easier to attain than it is now. If the drug is easy to fetch they will say that it would create new consumers and then it would make it harder for people who are hooked on it to leave the drug. With the easy availability of the drug, people might buy into concerned that it will spread fast among the youth. There is also the problem of people who are addicted to marijuana and will find that it is tough to let go of the drug when you can find it anywhere not to mention if they start to advertise marijuana it will be harder to stop using marijuana. There is a chance that if people can’t stop using marijuana then the government will consider marijuana a hard drug and that will make it harder to legalize it
I always found it crazy how people were so quick to judge the idea of legalizing marijuana but, they still devour McDonald’s and smoke a pack of cigarettes a day while adding a double shot of Tito’s vodka to their sprite. Marijuana is frowned upon in the United States while tobacco, alcohol, and fast food, substances with higher death rates, are sold everywhere. In some states, marijuana has been legalized for medical and recreational use and yet, continues as a huge debate throughout the country. Americans oppose the legalization of marijuana because they believe it will only decrease productivity in society. Citizens against legalizing weed say it is mind altering, bad for your health, and a gateway drug to more dangerous drugs. Little do they know, marijuana possesses medicinal benefits that are safer than prescription drugs, meaning less opioid overdoses. Decriminalizing marijuana would profit the economy and reduce street related drug disputes, which is why marijuana should be legalized, medically and recreationally, throughout America.
Marijuana is a very famous and controversial issue in society today, hence why I choose to talk about the federal law on marijuana and my stance on it. Cannabis is still illegal under federal law but why is that? I feel like having laws against marijuana does more harm than good and we should legalize it. Marijuana has been tested and proven to have a very positive impact on people all around the country. The reasons I believe we should legalize marijuana is for our economy, health and believe it or not crime rate. These reasons could very well help our country flourish in the future and that is why Marijuana should be legalized in America. But let’s look at both sides of the argument and let you decide for yourself.
