Marijuana is a very famous and controversial issue in society today, hence why I choose to talk about the federal law on marijuana and my stance on it. Cannabis is still illegal under federal law but why is that? I feel like having laws against marijuana does more harm than good and we should legalize it. Marijuana has been tested and proven to have a very positive impact on people all around the country. The reasons I believe we should legalize marijuana is for our economy, health and believe it or not crime rate. These reasons could very well help our country flourish in the future and that is why Marijuana should be legalized in America. But let’s look at both sides of the argument and let you decide for yourself. Today more than ever the legalization of marijuana is at a high in America. People who were very much against legalization of marijuana or were just unsure what marijuana even was are starting to believe it will be more helpful than harmful for us as Americans. There are many reasons why many people support marijuana legalization and one of those reasons is the benefit of marijuana being used for medicinal use. I’m going to show you a few ways medically that marijuana will be more helpful today. One of the big things marijuana does is, it’s extremely effective in helping people cope with pain. Marijuana has been proven to help with arthritis and here is why. Marijuana will ease pain and reduce swelling without the potentially life-threatening side
Legalizing marijuana for health and municipal purposes in the United States Of America, personally I think it's a great idea. A lot of other people don't think legalizing marijuana is the greatest idea in the world, they think that people will use it in the wrong ways and not to help with any diseases that it can kill. Legalizing marijuana in the United States should be done because it can help people with diseases that they can’t fix with just any medicine, it can kill most deadly diseases, and it keeps people from taking multiple pills a day.
Have you ever wondered when and why marijuana was made illegal? The herbal plant, commonly used in medicines, was not considered a drug in the early 1900s. The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 banned the use and sales of marijuana. This act was put in place due to careless slander. Marijuana, in America should be legalized because it is safer than alcohol and tobacco, marijuana funds gangs and cartels, and marijuana can replace toxic, addictive pharmaceuticals.
Can you imagine being just six-years-old and suffering from over three hundred violent seizures a week? From birth, Charlotte Figi suffered from a rare form of epilepsy, which caused these seizures. After trying everything to help Charlotte, her parents finally decided to try medical marijuana, and it worked! Charlotte still had seizures, but now, she had maybe two or three seizures a month instead of three hundred a week. Charlotte’s story and many similar stories, along with medical research and sound reasons, have caused the public’s opinion about marijuana to change in favor of legalizing it, and I agree. I strongly believe that marijuana, and especially medical marijuana, should be legalized across the entire
Through the years marijuana has been known by many names, and almost as many opinions have been held concerning its effect on people. Not all of those opinions have been correct in fact; most have been pure propaganda. Marijuana is not a gateway drug. It does not have fatal side effects, and it is not only used by lazy people. These are just some of the stigmas that have plagued marijuana over the years. The truth is that marijuana is a medicinal plant and, as such, should be used to treat medical conditions instead of the chemicals created by big pharmaceutical companies. Though today marijuana still has a negative stigma associated with it, medical marijuana should be legalized nationwide due to its health benefits for those with terminal
How do you measure happiness? Is your happiness totally dependent on the amount of freedom you have? By guaranteeing us the right to pursue happiness the government doesn’t promise to provide us with it. Government exists solely to grant and protect our freedoms, this includes protecting individuals from being harmed by others exercising their freedoms. The government should not legalize marijuana on the basis that every individual should be free to choose his or her own path to happiness. I am a firm believer in the individual's right to the pursuit of happiness under the constitution; however, I do not believe in the right of achieving immediate gratification at the expense of others.
The decision whether to legalize marijuana is a difficult topic in the United States because marijuana has both positives and negatives. Many people believe Marijuana should be legal in the United States and there have been rumors rising that the state of Texas may become one of the few states to legalize the drug. Marijuana has been portrayed as better than most legal drugs or alcohol out there. Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol actually cause more deaths than Marijuana, about 50,000 people die from alcohol poisoning and about 400,000 people die from the use of tobacco. Marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. Although Marijuana does have some health risk, these risks are less severe when compared to other drugs, such as alcohol. Marijuana is the third most popular drug
The question that is plaguing the nation is whether Marijuana or “Weed” should be legalized for recreational and medicinal use. There’s many benefits to legalizing Marijuana especially economically, because it creates a new market for states. Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is known for its benefits, such as industrial use, medicinal use, and recreational use. Marijuana’s industrial uses as a hemp product helped produce important products like the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. The reduction of millions of dollars in tax payer money spent enforcing laws and incarcerating users and freeing up law enforcement to concentration of real criminals. The people who are against marijuana being permitted will probably say that if marijuana is permitted it would be easier to attain than it is now. If the drug is easy to fetch they will say that it would create new consumers and then it would make it harder for people who are hooked on it to leave the drug. There is also the problem of people who are addicted to marijuana and will find that it is tough to let go of the drug when you can find it anywhere not to mention if they start to advertise marijuana it will be harder to stop using marijuana. There is a chance that if people can’t stop using marijuana then the government will consider marijuana a hard drug and that will make it harder to legalize it
Cannabis, the nation's most widely used illegal drug, has been the topic of controversy for quite some time. In recent years there has been a spike in the conversation of legalising cannabis due to many countries decriminalizing the drug. As more and more countries make the substance legal, opinions about marijuana continue to divide the population. There are many arguments to both support and oppose the legalisation of marijuana; after all no one has ever died through the sole consumption of cannabis, which compared to the amount of people who have died from alcohol and cigarettes, legal drugs, is astounding and very thought provoking. But many continue to argue that marijuana is more harmful rather than beneficial and believe that possession of the drug should be punished. Although when some people have even argued cannabis has saved their life, is it right that a person ends up classed as a criminal for something that may have saved them from death?
