On an average day 93 Americans are killed with a gun, and for every one person killed, two more are injured. It is such a tragedy, gun violence seems to be spiraling out of control. We see mass shootings on tv more often, hear of loved ones dying, and see all the death and destruction going on in our world today. It seems as if all is hopeless and lost. Recently we have been shying away from the problem, hoping if we hide it, or run away from it hoping, gun violence will disappear. We blame guns, and we blame the law, however, I propose we need to go out and educate our youth on how guns work and enforce the laws we have now. Instead of adding and regulating guns more.
Many believe that homicides and mass shootings are the number one problem with gun violence. However, this is not the case. According to an article published by pew research “Over 60%of all firearms deaths are suicide” You see we include these statistics and gun violence seems to be out of control. If we remove suicides, justified homicides, and contingent shootings, gun violence is significantly lower, than many think.
In 2015, There were 12,979 homicides with guns. In the Article Gun Homicide Rate Down by 49% since 1993 by pew research a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes, and trends shaping the world. “In 2010, there were 3.6 gun homicides per 100,000 people, compared with 7.0 in 1993…” according to these statistics homicide has dropped drastically over the years.
Since 2013 there have been 268 school shootings in the United States alone (Everytown for Gun Safety, 2017). School gun violence is becoming increasingly probable. It is imperative that our government and our citizens come together to create a solution and implement a plan to prevent and stop the occurrence of school gun violence. The solution, for some, is to bring more guns into the picture by arming teachers, principals, and other school officials, or place armed police officers at school sites (LaPierre, 2015). For others, the solution is to make even stricter laws regarding gun use or to get rid of these weapons altogether. These certainly are drastic options; I must say that I do believe the true solution is to increase the focus on mental health services and by extension, mental health awareness. There is simply not enough focus on the mental health of our youth and of our students. Mental health services are the most important step to making schools safer, because this solution touches the entire problem of violence at its root level.
Imagine heartbreak, loved ones dying, and losing hope. This has transpired for many in America today, all because of gun violence. It has become a great problem for our society in recent years. Data from Every Town Research has shown In their article Gun Violence by the Numbers “...that on an average day, 93 Americans are killed with guns...For every one person killed, two are injured” Many will deny that gun violence is a dilemma, but it is. Most do not realize this but, over 62% of the deaths that occur are suicides, and just over 1,642 people killed by gun violence were accidental. There is something very wrong here, and something needs to change quickly. If so many of these deaths are incidental, and
From January 1, 2015 to December 23 of that same year a total of 12,942 people had been killed in America due to gun violence. These numbers include murders, accidental shootings, and murder suicides. According to a nonprofit website that records gun deaths in America called “Gun Violence Archive”, there were more than 50,000 gun violence incidents in 2015 alone. This includes homicides, gang incidents, and accidental and self-defense shootings, but it does not, however, include the near 20,000 American deaths due to gun suicides that occur each year.
Do you feel Gun violence has taken a bad effect on taxpayers? I do, because even if your family member hasn’t been shot or killed, it still hurt you in a way. When a person has been killed in a certain state, and the killer is a part of that state. The state happens to give away four Thousand dollars to help cover the funeral costs. If you didn’t know, that’s coming from our taxes. When a person have been shot and wounded, your taxes are being taking and helping paying for medication to keep that person out of pain. Even when the killer gets caught, your taxes will be still be a risk, because killers has to eat too.
A very controversial topic throughout the United States and the world is guns. As American citizens, we have a constitutional right to own a fire arm. But why is a gun so important and why is it such a huge part of the United States division of its people? The division starts with people using this Second Amendment to harm people. In recent years, mass shootings have become the norm for the United States and that outcome is not the purpose of the Second Amendment. These mass shooting happen everywhere from movie theatres to concert halls. But the majority of these mass shootings seem to happen at schools with innocent children aging from kindergarten to high school students. With the deaths of children in school rising, the urge to find a solution and develop prevention tactics have become top priority. Not only limiting the access to guns but finding out the reason behind the shootings will help aid in the fight to stop gun violence in schools.
We lose more than 32,000 Americans to gun violence every year in this country. That’s an average of 87 deaths a day. These tragedies range from gun accidents and suicides to horrific mass shooting like those at Columbine High School in 1999 and at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012. (Everitt)
In the recent months, gun violence has become more common than ever. It seems that we cannot go a day without turning on the news and learning of a shooting. As a society, we are worried for our safety and question whether or not guns should be held by everyday non-government citizens. It seems that individuals turn to guns when they are not heard and are upset by other events.
In today’s time there is no stopping the public from witnessing the day to day violence across America. It floods the daily news, it scrolls past our eyes through our smartphone screens, it blares through our stereos, and it’s published in our newspapers and magazines. As humans, in this day and age prosper where bad news is never hidden from the media. It is recognized all the time, the thoughts of violence crossing one 's path never settling just right in in the stomach. People live to assume they are merely lucky until, essentially, they have become the bad news constantly being brought to the public. Violence, unfortunately, is apart of life, becoming more of a problem in some places than others- but constantly lingering among us. One of the most disputed, and common results of violence nowadays in America is specifically gun violence. “Guns are responsible for roughly 30,000 deaths a year in America” (Goldberg). This is, without a doubt, a serious issue in America. Taya Kyle, the wife of Chris Kyle, who inspired the movie ‘American Sniper’ spoke out: “My government has proven that it 's not able to protect me against people who want to kill. And I don 't blame the government, because there is only one person to blame here: The man or woman who decided to kill.” (Kyle). It is no one 's fault during a violent gun crime but the person who committed this crime, no one can predict the future. It is not the guns fault for
In recent years gun violence has increased significantly in various parts of the world. There are more cases of children and young adults engaging in violence or getting caught in the crossfire. Is there anyone to blame ? There has been debate over whether gun laws are strict enough and what else can be done to reduce such acts from occurring. With more lives being affected on a regular basis, more concerns arise as to how people can live safe lives when guns are being used in increasing numbers. It is shameful to say that almost every day you hear about some sort of gun violence affecting people either in your hometown or in another part of the world. It's sad is not it ? where i live in chicago therefore.

Local government could lower down gun violence by dealing with public carrying that covers urban cities and populated rural areas like putting some restrictions so it makes it hard for any illegal uses of guns happen in any public area.
Austin Intro: Many Polls try to tell you that guns are not important for Americans to have but they are. They try to say that only 3% of Americans own guns but that is false. Many states like Florida don’t have to register there guns so that number is nowhere near. There are also places were you need to register to own guns in some states and then also own guns in another. guns keep us safe, gun control wont work, and the seconded amendment states that its our right to own guns.
Every year in the united states more than 30,000 people die from gun violence. Researchers say that gun violence is getting out of
Cities in America are reaching their all time high for homicides committed in America. Roughly thirty-five thousand people are killed each year in America annually. That may not seem like a lot compared to people that die of disease but, that number is getting close to the amount of people that live in Lawrence, Indiana. Indiana this year will reach its all time high of homicides committed. Indiana is almost at the all time high for homicides and still has a month left to go in this year. Guns are also used for about fifty percent of suicides committed. One in every two people that commit suicide use guns to commit this horrific action and most of the time these guns were either obtained illegally or taken from parents because they are so easy to acquire that way. The article from Ted miller states “Guns kill 30,000 Americans each year and injure 80,000.” (Ted Miller) It is estimated that thirty eight percent of households have guns, twenty six percent of people in America have guns and half of those people own more than one gun, which is thirteen percent of people in America. That's saying more than one in every four people in America owns a gun and a little over and every ten people own more than one gun.
What is the purpose of guns? To protect us or to destroy us? Gun holders claim to use guns only for protection but why is it that as the demand for guns increases so does the violence and the number of deaths? Why is it that instead of feeling safe we feel threatened or scared of them?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2010, there were roughly 31,670 gun-related deaths in the U.S. Close to 11,100 were homicides (35%) and about
