Throughout the years, climate change has been a controversial issue affecting every individual worldwide. It has been debated by scientists as well the rest of the world. Many things can affect climate change such as biological factors and human actions. The little things are what go unnoticed and unchecked. People may be greatly against the previous statement, but it is little things, like landfills and driving cars, that help maintain the increasing temperature of the earth. Climate change has been a controversial topic. There have been doubts that climate change does not exist but there is a lot of proof that it does even if many scientists do not agree on the cause.
There are many biological reasons as to why there is climate change in the world. It is most easily explained by the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the buildup of greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere allowing for heat to come in safely but trapping some of it inside as well. Greenhouse gasses are carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gasses. Because of these gases, the heat that comes in from the sun then is radiated back to the surface including both land and water. In a BBC report it states that the greenhouse gas emission percentage by type is 77% for carbon dioxide, 14% of methane, 8% of nitrous oxide, and 1% of fluorinated gasses (BBC). Carbon dioxide is released through various natural ways for example, “respiration by plants and animals, forest fires, [and]
Did you know that 97 percent of climate scientists agree that climate change in the last century is due to human activities? Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. Due to these things, we have encountered unusual climate changes, such as ocean acidification and the melting of ice caps. Global warming is real and can be reduced as well as affected by humans, but it is not a topic we need to prioritize.
Climate change has always been an ominous, impending thought in the back of my mind. Every day, I try to be more cognizant of my ecological footprint, a mindset which had spurred me into becoming more environmentally cautious over the years. The crux of the matter was undoubtedly discussed by Mr. Bardecki over the dramatic changes concerning the Colorado River. Our earth relies heavily on water as a source of life— from humanity's perspective alone, we use it for hydration, agriculture, and sanitation. That being said, it is equally as essential that we take care of our planet and water sources. It is said that "we're failing as stewards of God’s creation, but these changes we're seeing, that's not God punishing us -we're destroying ourselves." In full confidence, I agree with this statement; if we drive our planet and our resources into ruin, we have but ourselves to blame. We cannot let this be our legacy. The Colorado River, known as one of the most endangered rivers in the continental US, is being threatened by a drought, one brought by the rising changes in climate, and greenhouse gas emissions. I believe that the risk factor is increased because of direct human activity such as leisurely boating, agricultural irrigation, and the import/export business, which studies will prove to be a correct assumption. It is indisputable that humans largely take part in the latter, and so, with all of the warning signs in place and alarms ringing, we must act quickly.
concerned of the effects climate change could have on the world. There is so much evidence that climate change exist so we need to find a way to stop climate change so the effects of climate change won’t happen. We soon learned that the cause of climate change could have been through greenhouse gases. There are different types of greenhouse gases, but the one we’re going to talk about is carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases (which are located below the atmosphere) are gases that allow light from the sun to pass through the gases and some light/heat back out into space, but a certain amount of light gets trapped on the earth. This is called the greenhouse effect.
Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which will endanger the earth. However, it’s possible that some people in the world are willing to help; people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.
Climate change has been a widely debated, controversial topic. Some think that it is not an issue that should be payed much attention to. With climate changing being caused naturally and by humans, the climate has been widely changing due to ample amounts of CO2 emissions. Where the burning of fossil fuels is the main source of the human impact. As well as volcanoes being a majority the of natural emissions. Although nature contributes to the climate change humans have more widely contributed to the change of climate abroad.
As Earths average temperature increases every year, the discussion of climate change has become a significant topic in the scientific community. Human activities such as powering factories, running automobiles or something as simple as burning wood for heat, emit dangerous greenhouse gases. What makes these greenhouse gases so detrimental is that they absorb the heat radiating off of Earth and keep it in the lower atmosphere creating a “blanket” of warmth around the Earth’s surface. This causes a drastic increase in the Earths average temperature. Due to the rise in temperature, the polar caps have been melting faster than ever, this is dangerous not only because of the risk of floods and sea level increase but ocean water will become less saline and ecosystems will be destroyed, impacting humans just as much as marine life. In the article, Understand faulty thinking to tackle climate change by George Marshall, Marshall states that most people in our world today do not care about climate change because it will not affect them, “Which points to the real problem: climate change is exceptionally amorphous, … no deadlines, no geographic location, no single cause or solution.” (Marshall 2014). Because the author makes it clear that climate change is indeed a great plight, and fails to be acknowledged by people, it is a significant matter that should be discussed
Climate change limits the opportunities that future generations have, especially the most poorest and most vulnerable. It is our duty to change how people treat/use the earth, educate, and get involved in our communities that can have a huge impact on improving the lives of the vulnerable populations affected by climate change.
Did you know that the United States is the second largest contributor of CO2, and the less concerned about it? Climate change has been a problem for decades, but just recently we start to see how big of a problem climate change is, and can be. Climate change is one of the biggest problems that we are facing right now, even if keep trying to act like is nothing. Everybody, the people, the government, and big companies are a big contributor of this phenomenon. The more we keep denying its effects, the more we are going to regret it later, and going to wish that we could go back and try to fix the issue. You going to know one day, and its going to be late. Climate change should be the U.S government main focus this decade and the ones to come. Climate change can affect a country in every way economically, destroyed …., cause a lot of deaths.
I really appreciate all of the work you're doing spreading awareness about climate change while doing your own part to combat it. In this day and age, our work to change the course of our currently unsustainable civilization is more important than ever. That's why we must be very careful when discussing the changing climate and the repercussions that spring from it. Most conversations about climate change focus on the major problems that are going to occur in the future as a result of current human practices. Yet, it is evident that these changes are wreaking havoc in the present world that we all inhabit. That is why the narrative on climate change must change. Not only is climate change real, but it is impacting the earth in devastating ways at this very moment. Climate change should be treated as the atrocity of today, not the possible problem of the future.
Climate change also known as global warming, is the rise in the Earth's surface temperatures. Even though the rise in the Earth's surface temperature may be slight it can still have a wide range of effects on ecosystems, rising sea levels, severe weather events, and droughts. A staggering amount of scientist believe that climate change is caused mainly due to the human use of fossil fuels. When fossil fuels are used, carbon dioxide is released along with other greenhouse gases into the air. Those gases trap the heat within the atmosphere. Some examples of ways humans use fossil fuels are oil, coal, and natural gas. Humans depend on theses fossil fuels to function everyday life. For example we use these fuels to heat our homes, run our vehicles, and are used in the power industry to produce electricity.
Life on Earth, as we know it, is possible thanks to the natural effect known by the term greenhouse. The effluent gases, mainly water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), and gases such as methane (CH4), nitrogen oxide (N2O) and tropospheric ozone (O3), allow solar energy to illuminate the Earth with visible light but also pressure infrared heat.1 This phenomenon keeps our planet sufficiently warm, ensuring the proper physiological functions of all organisms.1 The greenhouse effect that for millions of years was a blessing for the Earth, seems to have become a serious threat to the Earth during the last century due to human activity.
The arrogance of mankind is not in the belief that their lifestyle can alter the Planet’s climate, nor in the denial that it could; instead it is believing that we can understand and address climate disruption individually. This is an issue that stretches far beyond a single discipline, and affects every living creature on Earth, reinforcing the notion that geologists, oceanographers, or even climate scientists cannot tackle this problem on their own. We need to determine our response to the realization that we are living in a period coined the Anthropocene; a time defined by the very influence of human action on the environment we live in. The key to addressing the predicament we now find ourselves in: one of altered weather and climate, shifting ecosystems, unstable resources and numerous negative health effects, as well as possible mass migrations and copious extinctions; to survive it we must use an interdisciplinary approach. By involving as many sectors as possible, we will greatly increase our understanding of the problems we face, and we will be better equipped to address them and find solutions. Through cooperation and artful communication, together we can confront the looming repercussions of climate change.
Global Climate change in a phrase that’s very popular in the news media and our political world. For some, this is a just a phrase they hear and move on from, as others live their lives to educate and make known the risks and realities of this scary reality we face. The fate of our planet lies in the hands of those who govern the nations of this world and leaves the people of these nations to fight to save our Earth. This leaves us to wonder what kind of world are we leaving for our children and grandchildren?
Climate change is a dilemma in which anticipated too long to resolute, Earth will forever be damaged; bringing life on Earth to a permanent transition in an unfavorable state. With many contributing factors to climate change, humans have generated numerous amounts of damage, rather than showing an effort to save the atmosphere. Believe it or not, climate change is a contributing factor on human lifespan, potentially lowering the average amount of time each human spends on Earth. On the contrary, many companies like Greenpeace have scrutinized climate change and found affordable ways in cleaning our environment. Companies like Greenpeace offer a very reasonable pricing that could transpire economies positively rather than negatively. Generally speaking, finding a solution to climate change should be the main thought for each and every person’s mind; being that personal health and consideration for future generations have more of an impact than other issues in society today.
Abstract: Climate change is a serious problem that will affect all of the inhabitants and systems of Earth. Gaia was previously responsible for maintaining sustainability of the Earth’s systems, however, Gaia is losing its ability to maintain homeostasis because of these severe environmental changes that are taking place. There must be a push to educate people on what the anthropogenic causes of climate change are and how we can prevent them from negatively impacting our environment. People also need to understand the severe consequences of climate change, which include desertification, rising sea levels, more frequent severe weather, and the potential loss of our food supplies. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization also needs to push for regulations on fossil fuel emissions and help create incentives to prevent major corporations from polluting. Last, everyone needs to make an effort to cut back on their individual emissions by using more sustainable energy sources, cutting back on automobile use, and consuming fewer animal products.
