Studies have shown that one way to improve students achievement is to start an after school homework club. Teacher and students volunteer to meet with those who either have difficulty in certain subjects or want to finish their homework early. I believe that my school, Ridgeview middle School, should establish an after school homework club. To begin with, I know that not every student learns at the same pace. Homework clubs will be a very reliable source for students to learn something they have missed or just simply do not understand. Coupled with one-on-one time, homework clubs will be like heaven on Earth for students.
To begin with, every student does not learn at the same pace. For example I may learn something new faster than one of my friends. Some students do not learn as quick because of mental illnesses or distractions.Volunteers for after school homework clubs can help a student learn without any distractions. Many students think

In other words, this time is extremely peaceful. I believe one-on-one time is the best way for a student to learn because there are no distractions. With distractions, nobody will benefit from what is being taught,so I prefer to be in a scant class. In addition one-on-one time will cause time to fly and will make learning exciting for students who have difficulty with certain subjects or those who just want to finish their homework early, like I do my homework every week for algebra class during my typing class, but I become behind in my work by doing this weekly. I believe my school should establish an after school homework club for those students who either have difficulty with certain subjects. I feel like this will be one of the best investments my school will ever make, however teachers and students will need to volunteer to help others learn, because less students will have to repeat the same grade over because he will be able to understand his
In society today, a college education is often seen as a “the next step” in a young adult’s life. Whether they actually know what they would like to earn a degree in, they feel the need to continue their education as almost everyone around them is pursuing post-secondary education of some sort. It is often argued that a college education is not necessary to get ahead because of the manufacture based workforce that is up and coming in America, however, there are many benefits to having a post-secondary education such as a higher rate of pay and more job opportunities.
I think that kids should get time to work on homework in class . It would help kids understand the assignments if they need help. If kids have after school activities they may not have time to complete their homework. Kids would also get more work completed as they would have a better understanding of the homework.
It has been said that “with all the homework students start to think less creatively and they might lose the learning to try and avoid challenging tasks” (Kohn). The fact that homework is able to make the students lose what they are learning is perhaps the most important reason that is is not beneficial. Homework has been seen as a way to increase learning and practice what students are learning, but with too much homework it can defeat the purpose. Students are getting much more work that is harder, because the schools are receiving stricter standards from the government that they must follow. But “the main effect ‘of the drive for so-called higher standards in schools is that the children are too busy to think,’as said by John Holt in 1959” (Kohn). Students are not being able to think creatively, because they are tied to standards and homework. “For students to become lifelong learners and good people, we need to work with them rather than using techniques like rewards and punishments, which merely do things to them” as said by Alfie Kohn, author of the book The Schools our Children Deserve (Kohn). Students see large amounts of homework as a punishment, and as said by Alfie Kohn that “merely does things to them” (Kohn). Homework should not be given in amounts where it starts to be counterproductive, and is no longer helping the students learn or think
First, it’s the one tardy that rolls off your back like it’s no big deal, and then another and another. It goes on and on until you’re not allowed to come to school anymore because your principal told you that it seems like you don’t care anymore. You miss so many assignments and you’re too far behind, the days keep adding up. If seniors skip their senior year they miss opportunities they can’t receive elsewhere. You don’t get help with college options and scholarships, you spent your whole life to get there, and you don’t get to experience the senior memories you make while in high school.
¨Change is very difficult, but in the end, it is worth it.¨ said Mr. John Porter. Change in a school can be very difficult, especially when people that have been there are used to the old way. But sometimes, change is good for everyone, especially when it comes to support. We need better support for school sports, in after school programs, ourselves, and most importantly, for our fellow classmates. That's only the beginning.
Students should get homework because they learn key morals from it that they should learn. In the article “The Importance of Homework and Studying”, the author Diane Ravitch supports homework, saying that “they provide an opportunity for children to develop self-discipline, study habits, and time management skills.”. These skills will help the students further in the future, and also “Children can set homework goals and enjoy a feeling of accomplishment when the goals are met.”. This will make the student feel more responsible and confident in them.
You either are in middle school or believe the high school movies you see on TV or you’re about to go or you are already a high school freshman and it’s not going so well. The thing is if you’re worried about the people in high school then you’re worried about the wrong thing. The only thing that you should be worried about in high school is the fact you’re trying to get the hell out of there. Graduate and go. Don’t get too caught though because you’ll end up needing personality too. You need a healthy balance of both keep your grades up and make some good friends. I would go in depth about grades and things but you’ve basically heard all about that already and its school you’re going to hear even more. Just graduate with a 3.5 or higher don’t bullshit get all your credits and make sure you don’t apply for colleges to late don’t procrastinate and make sure you’re walking on stage by the end of senior year.
The first thoughts that come to my mind when I think of summer is socializing with friends and being with my family, and going to the pool and beach a lot over the summer with them. What i'm looking forward to the most is to do more activities that I couldn’t do within the school year. I will have more time to focus on all my sports in summer than during the school year with all the homework I had to do. The three places that I would like to go to over the summer is the pool and the beach because the weather is nice and hot and gives a cool breeze and the water is nice and cool so it's just perfect. I would also like to visit my cousins out of state, I only see them about once a year because they live far and we never have a long period of
Many people way say that freshman year is just a joke. Do not listen to these people, they are the same people who say “D’s get degrees.” Even though D’s do get degrees, D’s do not get you into college, and that’s where the money comes from. You will need to put in more than minimal effort. I highly suggest actually paying attention, studying, and give yourself free time, it will make a difference.
If I told you that that one in every eleven people in the U.S. were high school dropouts, would you believe me? The surprising thing about this is that the percentage of high school dropouts has dropped by three in the last ten years. That's still too many teens becoming failures. The sad thing about this is that in Utah, you must be eighteen or older to dropout. So why are people still dropping out if the age is so high? Do they even try, or do they simply just fail until they are old enough to drop out? There are much too many things wrong with this system. Why should they even be allowed to drop out?
Finally, Having more homework can help the kids and parents bond! If your child is having trouble help them. You can see what they are learning in school, and then you people will bond and learn how to help your kids. You can also learn what their strengths are and their weaknesses. We do know that you might of not take this class at school and don't know how to do this type of activity. But did it ever hurt to try? If you don't try what kind f a parent are you??? So just try.
These activities help keep students time more structured. It has been said, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." Involvement in extracurricular
A law should be enacted mandating that all American residents and citizens complete a high school education. After all, it's free to the public, kindergarten to the 12th grade. And it's probable that most people who drop out before graduating from high school tend to live lives of struggle, financial hardship, and criminal troubles, they would get a job with only minimum wage with no benefits. Then they will realize and say I deserve more than this but how if they didn't finish high school. However if a high school student had the foresight to look ahead that far in the future, and even further down the road, they would undoubtedly see the importance of having a high school education. Rather than leaving it up to nearsighted adolescent to decide.
1. Teamwork. Humans are gregarious and like being around each other. Young people and adults usually like working as a team. Yet often the learning activities we assign call for individual effort. Young people especially complain that they don't like doing homework alone, yet we often insist that it be done that way. By designing more team assignments, we can exploit the benefits of teamwork, where the weaker
"High school – the prime time of every kid's life, a dream come true, memories you'll never forget – "… I don't think so. Let's break it down from my view: Lindsay Callihan, a real 16-year-old kid living the real junior year, high school life. The ultimate goal of high school: build you up, break you down, and then build you up while simultaneously breaking you down again. So far, high school can be broken down into three different categories: the good, the bad, and the evil.
