An effective persuasive essay must influence the reader with authoritative sources that he or she may trust. Authoritative sources allow readers to recognize the material within an essay; therefore, “How to Poison the Earth” carries the audience into the argument through persuasive elements. For instance, story elements in the essay reveal persuasive writing techniques which impact the emotions of the audience. The writer’s goal is to affect the outlook of the reader in order to gain an emotional response. Specific explanations provide the reader with the proper information that allows him or her to trust the material. To illustrate, process analysis is the method of examining ideas or subjects in order to answer questions regarding to the
Earth's oceans are dying. “About 80% of the ocean around the world is polluted with chemicals industrial and residential waste, all of which comes from the land” (“Marine Problems…”). Pollution is mainly coming from the people. Marine pollution should be stopped because it is the cause of many problems and if something is done about it, people will see an increase in sea life and healthier waters. It makes its way into the ocean and kills marine life. Ocean pollution is affecting the way of fisherman and their everyday lives. It is also very bad on the community because pollution is very bad on tourism. Ocean pollution should be stopped because it is poorly affecting marine life, it is not good for fishermen, and is very bad on tourism.
The detailed look into process analysis has been vital to understanding the organization of a particular subject. Some of basics I have learned from the study of process analysis are: to recognize the desired product of the process analysis; to put together a thesis that clarifies my attitude towards the process; keeping the audience in mind; utilizing basic prewriting to identify the best route to take in organization; identifying the directional and informational aspects of process analysis; explaining the process one step at a time; making it easy for the readers to follow the sequence of the analysis; establishing the right tone throughout the process; and, how to open and close the process analysis effectively. My experiences learned from process analysis is the recognition of how important
What comes to your mind when you think of pollution? Is it air pollution? Is it water pollution? Both of these are crucial to understand and should pop into your head when think of pollution. According to Merriam-Webster, pollution is “the action of polluting especially by environmental contamination with man-made waste; also: the condition of being polluted.” I would like the audience to use this definition to further their understanding of what pollution is. This could be anything from an inconsiderate person tossing their trash out the car window to toxic fertilizer chemicals leeching into the soil and then eventually working their way down into the Mississippi and creating a hypoxic zone. Pollution can also be naturally created via
For years people have been on the verge of trying to eliminate pesticides from their local farm growing as they have seen a drastic improve in future health problems with can lead to huge amounts of death each year. Pesticides are the only toxic substances released intentionally into our environment to kill living things. This includes substances that kill weeds (herbicides), insects (insecticides), fungus (fungicides), rodents (rodenticides), and others. These two types of pesticides have been tested for their exact use numerous amounts of time in insure safety to all people. Another way pesticides can spread and cause potential harm is by volatilization. Volatilization occurs when a pesticide turns into a gas or vapor after
The average American household uses approximately 300 gallons of water each day (Attari). Only 13.2 gallons of clean water are required per day for human needs such as, drinking, sanitation, hygiene, and food preparation (Attari). These statistics show that Americans use more water than needed to live a sustainable lifestyle. As water usage goes up, so does water pollution as a byproduct. Americans must reduce water usage in order to minimize water pollution and preserve clean water.
Mercury pollution occurs from industrial sources such as mining, power plants and coal combustion centers. When mercury is released from the sources, it can travel halfway around the world before it ever enters into the waterways and contaminates the fish that we then eat. Through the trade of those fish, people in every continent are at risk for mercury pollution. Newborns are also at risk of mercury pollution due to the consummation of fish by their mothers, thousands of babies are at risk every year of impaired motor skills (“Reduce Mercury Pollution”). In order to reduce the pollutants of mercury we need to implement a policy to clean up sites already contaminated, limit the amounts discharged into the water and provide consumers on tips to reduce their exposure to it.
Have you ever walked into a supermarket and laid eyes upon the most beautiful fruit you have ever seen? Or admired the shiny red surface of an apple? What if I told you that many harmful chemicals are used to achieve that look? Pesticides and herbicides are toxic substances sprayed on food and plants used to repel insects and unwanted weeds. Conventional farmers say that plants not sprayed with pesticides will fall prey to insects and weeds. The answer to this is not found in chemicals, but in conscientious farming and organic practices. Pesticides and herbicides are repulsive substances that unintentionally kill animals, destroy the environment, and are harmful to those who ingest them.
If you were informed at a young age that you must reside in the same house until you pass away, would you lead a lifestyle that results in the destruction of your only permanent shelter? Would you shatter the windows, smash the appliances, and wreck the structure almost to a point of no return? Your answer to these questions would most likely be no, because any logical person would see the absurdity in irresponsibly ruining the one place you are confined to for your entire life. Why, then, does the human race have such difficulty applying this same concept on a larger scale? Why do we struggle to realize that the collective choices we make affect our surroundings in a monumental way? Why do we not take the utmost care in preserving the only home we have ever known? If Earth is the sole place in which living organism can dwell, why are we are steadily destroying it?
Today people say global warming is a natural cause, but what if I told you, you are contributing to it? Certain things released into the atmosphere such as greenhouse gasses are causing fresh water reserves in glaciers to melt, the climate to change and much more. The human race plays a vital factor to the death of this planet everyday due to our thoughtless attitude towards nature. Global warming is a massive problem in our generation and we need to stop contributing to it.
People are in danger if action is not taken soon everything will be lost. Global warming and the runaway greenhouse effect is real and dangerous. The greenhouse effect, which normally preserves life, is too powerful; it not longer acts to preserve the Earth but will destroy it. In order to secure a positive future for the current generation and beyond global warming needs to be understood and stopped.
Global warming is the increase in the earth's average temperature that occurs naturally (Flynn). Global warming is happening and needs to be stopped. Global warming is a serious problem, and from what scientists can gather from the research, the main producers of greenhouse gas emission are humans, causing serious threats to the Earth. Research on global warming has shown that melting glaciers, droughts, and other weather disasters are increasing at an alarming rate. Furthermore, global warming is causing harm to crops. Throughout history, species have responded to the changing of the world’s temperature. A hazardous concern, however, is the wildlife and ecosystems of balance at this rapid rate of change happening today. Furthermore, global warming is causing harm to crops. The government must take action. Some of the economists call global warming the greatest example of failure the world has ever seen. Global warming must be abolished because global warming is destroying the world.
Global warming has been an on-going issue for many decades. Most people would argue that it is a hoax; while others argue it is true. Climate change can cause a domino effect of catastrophes throughout the world. Once it affects one group, then that affected group will affect another, and so on and so forth; like a plague. Global warming is an authentic problem and we need to find more efficient ways to eliminate it, or at least contain it.
Interesting in the pollution topic. There are many problems of pollution specially on Los Angeles. Because their problems caused about the air pollution and another environment in the world that we should to reduce it around us. Pollution is killing a several people around the world in a year. It is harmful effects on people's health and the environment. According to NPR, “some scenes in the film are shocking, including a visit to a hospital operating room, where viewers see the damage China’s polluted air can do with a person’s lungs.” (Guenthner2015). We should consider these problems to reduce the pollution in the environmental. Personal should responsibility for the success of our local environmental protection programs by actively
Throughout the tides of time, mankind has been pitted against such foes as the plague, the
The reason global warming is crucial is because it will affect everyone’s future lives across the globe. Well, that is if they are able to sustain life by then. Right now sure, it is not so much of a big deal, but soon it will be and by the time, it may be too late. Want to know why everyone should try and stop global warming, or at least slow it down? Here is why. What if it got so hot that it became unbearable to go outside just to have some fun, what if every month everyone have to prepare for a stronger hurricane and flooding, watching out for heat waves, hoping there will not be a drought in their town, hoping they have enough food for their family, and watching out for a new disease. Global warming would also put a price tag, imagine how much money it would cost to repair the damage and every year it would just increase, this would be resulting in billions of dollars. That is not something anyone wants on their minds and that is not even the whole thing that could happen to the human kind, there are plenty of more reasons why everyone should contribute to stop this.
