Thousands of rescuers di per year because they are trying to save a person from a dangerous situation that they got themselves into. They try to save people that get themselves stuck in a burning building, people that are drowning because they got themselves stuck in the current of the ocean, or even people that are being reckless on and fall into the crevice of a mountain. Shouldn’t rescuers save themselves instead of paying the price of a careless act of a person? Rescuers put their lives in crisis to save people from dangerous situations when there isn’t even a 100% possibility of them being saved. Services should not be provided to people because climbers are old enough and responsible enough to know what they are getting into, rescue equipment isn’t alway reliable, and because innocent rescuers are putting their lives at risk to save other people.
Without question, rescue services are always there if you need them. But, people have gotten so used to them being their that they became immature and irresponsible while climbing a mountain. The people that climb these mountains are clearly old enough, mature enough, and responsible enough to identify the threats that come with hiking up huge mountain. In the article from Seattle Times it talks about two women who got themselves stuck in the crevice and were forced to call for help, “The four climbers, who range in age from 18 to 53 …” These climbers were all adults with the ability to make a strong or weak decision. They
In all three article, “Helicopter Rescues Increasing on Everest”, “Why Everest?”, and “Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers on Mount Rainier” all have different points of view regarding the issue of emergency rescues of mountain climbers.
According to Moreau from “Why Everest?”, in lines 27-32, there are multifarious threats such as the extreme temperatures, lack of oxygen from being 26,247 feet above sea level, icy slopes, and a region known as the “death zone”. Moreau proclaims there are abounding hazards upon the face of Mount Everest and can cause the peril of numerous individuals. These mountaineers are putting themselves at risk, while they are aware of the dangers of Mount Everest. Correspondingly, The Seattle Times declared in Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers, lines 19-24 that the trekkers had slipped into a crevasse and dangled inside the crevasse at the 13,700-feet level. The Seattle Times states that these climbers fell into a hole and dangled over 13,00 feet in the air, while they waited for help.
Now to conclude my point on why people shouldn't be rescued on Everest the three reasons could harm the climbers people could die it's very dangerous and it's very hard to rescue the people in trouble. To sum it up I believe that people shouldn't be rescued on Everest even though they know the risks and
Now who is gonna rescue you guys? People need to plan more carefully for their trips. In Survival is your responsibility by Daryl R. Miller, he talks about how survival is your responsibility and how you should be able to take care of yourself in any situation that mother nature sends your way. In Survival is your responsibility it states “everyone has a personal responsibility to maintain self-sufficiently in the wilderness and should always base decisions on getting back on there own.”
What if you die because help was not able to get you in time or reach you. “There have been over 230 deaths on the mountain… and about 200 bodies are still probably here.” (Moreau 2-3). Any sensible person would shout for help or try to get help right? So if help was requested chances are that many of the 230 deaths on everest was a rescue mission gone wrong. People can be the most experienced or most strong, intelligent people, but when they need help, they can jeopardize themselves in their desperation and make choices that can lead to their death. What if they slip into a crevasse and just as help is about to pluck them out of danger, the ice breaks, sending them to their icy demise. Sometimes even the slightest things can make someone
This is corresponding to today’s community because if the climbers are unskilled and they are not sure about safety, then they must not go mountain climbing, if they die their family and friends will be sad also the rescuer may die too. There have been over 230 deaths on the mountain. It’s very dangerous! what if the accident happen? People never know what will happen in the future. Think before you do something! Undoubtedly, people do not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at
And they got one climber off, and they crashed attempting to rescue the second man” (Helicopter Rescues Increasing on Everest 7). It is a rescuer’s job to know the risks for saving a climber but if the climber is a professional, they shouldn’t be easily be making mistakes. When there are rescuers who come pick you up fast when you can’t complete the climb, it is like having a safety net behind you. But where is the safety net behind the rescuers? There isn’t one, once they make a mistake, there won’t be someone to save them, so there shouldn’t be rescuers saving climbers when they are risking their own lives but also the
The first reason people do not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at risk is because of the chances of more people dying. The article “Why Everest?” suggests that if you’re going to climb any mountain, make sure you have very good experience. As stated Guy Moreau, “There have been over 250 deaths on the mountain.” This shows that people are climbing high without experience. In addition, it demonstrates that more rescuers are being put in danger. Those who disagree think helping people is good; this argument is wrong because climbers need more experience. Therefore, lack of experience is the first reason people do not have the right to rescue services.
People do not have the right .wrong because what if the ranger does want and is just doing it to make living. Therefore rangers and rescue services should not have to save someone unless there dying.Mountain climbing has its pros and cons. The pinnacle of rock climbing is climbing Mt.Everest.Every rock climbers dream is to reach the peak of Mt.Everest.Mt.Everest is a 100% the most difficult and fatal mountain to climb.Even a harder challenge for risk takers is the seven summits. The first reason people do not have the right rescue services when they put themselves at risk.People do have the right to put others at risk for there foolish.
The first reason people do not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at risk is that they are making life threatening risk to themselves. Source #2 titled “ Why Everest? ” Suggests that it is your choice if you want to make the treacherous climb. As stated on lines 9-11, “ Not everyone manages to complete the climb and some of these people pay their lives.” This shows that if you want to make a risk, you have to know that many people have died by taking the risk. There have been over 230 deaths on Mount Everest. In addition, it demonstrates that many have accomplished the climb, but many have not. Those who disagree think that if you climb Everest, you will survive; this argument is wrong because you should
“Don't be afraid to have a reality check. Taking risks is OK, but you must be realistic.” Joy Mangano. This proves that although risk-taking can be accepted, you must be experienced in the risk that you’re taking in order to be safe. My first source, Helicopter Rescues Increasing on Everest is transcribed from Robert Siegel’s radio show, and is a nonfiction radio interview whose purpose is to inform readers. Another source I analyzed is “Why Everest?” The article was authored by Guy Moreau and is a nonfiction article that is meant to inform readers. The third source I researched is Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers on Mount Rainier and is a nonfiction newspaper article meant to inform readers. The author of the article is The Seattle Times. People do not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at risk because it puts more people at risk, it is cost-heavy, and because they choose to risk their lives.
Did you know that over two-hundred thirty deaths have happened on Mount Everest and that rescue services have only successfully removed thirty bodies? Those people died because they were unprepared by not having enough oxygen or they didn’t plan accordingly. Being unprepared, not being physically fit, and putting other people at risk are three reasons why I think that Rescue Services should not be allowed for people who put themselves at risk.
Climbers pay lots of amounts of money to climb famous mountains and try to make it to the top. Unfortunately some people have not made it. This is why climbers should have a right to rescue services.
It is hard to make the choice, but it is dangerous to hesitate on Mt. Everest or other high mountains, and sometimes the choice to try saving a person causes the deaths of others. In my opinion, it is not worth to climb the mountain or even try to save others, because if you die, there will be nothing, but there should be something that attracts the climbers even though they know they may lose their lives. In this wide world, there are a lot of things that you can enjoy without the high risks of death, so I’d rather enjoy my life in a comfortable
Source #3 titled “ Ranger Killed During of Climbers on Mount Rainier” proposes that weather or nature can make it tough to get to get to someone in need of help . As specified in the article “ … 40-mph winds made it tough for a Chinook helicopter, from Joint Base Lewis McChord to reach the climbers.” This demonstrates that the nature or weather can make it difficult for rangers to get to the climbers. In addition, it shows that we can not always rely on the helicopters or the climbers. Some people contend that the most rangers are skilled enough to get through the nature and weather; this perception should be discounted because rangers can still be put at risk even if they are skilled enough to get through the nature and weather. Consequently, nature and weather makes sure people don’t have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at risk.
