That word describes everything to a gymnast it happens every practice and competition. When you're in competitive gymnastics you obviously have to go to meets and those can be very nerve-racking. When you mess up or fall at a meet you don't have another chance and you start to worry and think you just failed. Qualifying is something a gymnast always wants to do, but you need a certain score if you want to qualify. When you sulute theres no going back and the moment you start you being judged. Gymnastics can provide opportunities for development. It can be physical development for example gymnasts are one of the strongest athletes and the most flexible. They also learn how to fall without hurting themselves. Another type of development is character development They learn good time management skills that carry over to school and work. They also function well independently and have a high self a stem. Gymnastics also lets you experience the world when you compete at a high level you get to go to a lot of different places and different foods and people. Now, why do people think it's not a sport that reason is there's no ball. I get it in gymnastics there is no ball like tennis, basketball, football, and more. Wait a minute though swimming doesn't have a ball and it requires a lot of strength. People consider that a sport so why not
Dance has been around for a long time, it is older than many other popular sports we have. It takes on the physical capacity to be labeled as a sport, and yet in most cases, it is not. It is one of the few activities that is both a sport and an art, but it is given very little respect as a sport. Dance has evolved in a number of ways throughout time, but it has always been through a meaning. Whether that be dancing for love or faith, or dancing for first place.
In conclusion, dancing should be considered a sport because dancing improves memory, balance and coordination, and provides the best mental escape for your brain. If dance were considered a sport then the world would agree. The point is that even though dance is one of the world’s true art forms, it is still a sport, and should be considered one by all of society, including athletes
Many people say cheerleading isn't a sport. They feel that if you don't have a ball in your hand then you are not an athlete. Also people feel that cheer isn't a sport because they think cheer does"t compete against other teams and having a goal. There is many reasons to why cheer is a sport .
Dance demands the same physical skills that are required in other sports. Flexibility, strength, and endurance are key characteristics that most dancers need to posses. As with other “athletes,” most dancers are not born with these abilities but must establish them through practice and repetitive training. Similar to traditional sports practices, dance rehearsals are extensive and require diligence, dedication, and patience from the dancers as they will have to repeat exercises and stretches to perfect their technique and stay on
A sport is defined as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. There are many different national and international associations and organizations that hold their own standard to what can be considered a sport, but they are all similar: if it involves physical activity and competitions. Cheerleading does, in fact, fit underneath
Abie Pessima Dr. Farrell ENG 101 November 7, 2016 Should Cheerleading be Considered a Sport? What comes to mind when you think of cheerleading? It is not a sport right? Many people in the world believe cheerleading is not a sport and it is just a bunch of chanting and cheering but it is not just that.
One component cheerleaders also must have is flexibility. “Flexibility is the range of motion in a joint or group of joints or the ability to move joints effectively through a complete range of motion. Flexibility training includes stretching exercises to lengthen the muscles” (VeryWell). Flexibility must be present in order for flyers (the girls that are lifted into the air) to pull positions in midair, for the whole team to perform various jumps, and also helps in tumbling, which is a very important skill to have when participating in competitive cheerleading. “Tumbling is a form of gymnastics that requires athletes to use their bodies to flip, twist, roll and jump” (OmniCheer). Tumbling can take years to develop and isn’t an easy skill at all. Some girls work their whole life to just master simpler areas of tumbling and only the best of the best can do some of the hardest tumbling, which incorporates twists while flipping in midair. The last skill that cheerleaders must have is coordination. There is a lot of dancing whenever it comes to cheerleading. Dancing can be considered easy but not when it must be sharp and synchronized with all of the other teammates, along with adding in facial expressions, which appeal to the judges. These aspects take loads of time to perfect and some of these skills take years to even begin learning how to do.
Too many believe cheerleading only consists of girls looking pretty on the sidelines, so the question arises, why should cheerleading be considered a sport? Torgovnick informs that, “They [cheerleaders] do basket tosses where a group throws a “flyer” 25 feet in the air. They say the adrenaline rush of performing these risky moves is what they love . . . they keep on going even if they have a broken finger or a fractured rib.” There are many difficult elements put into a routine. Cheerleaders should be credited as athletes because they work just as hard as any other member of a sports
Also like any other team sport, a cheer squad is only as strong as their weakest link. This means that every cheerleader has to pull their own weight or they could lose points for their performance on their entire team’s score. If one stunt doesn’t hit perfectly or “bobbles”, the team can assume their chances of winning that competition are unlikely. Similar to a gymnastics judging panel, cheerleaders are scored on difficulty, showmanship, sharpness, creativity, and technique. The biggest difference between the two sports is that gymnastics is typically a solo performance, while cheerleaders completely rely on their teammates for their routine. If gymnastics is classified by the NCAA as a sport, and gymnastics requires many similar skills as cheerleading then both should be considered sports by
Many people consider activities such as, football, baseball, volleyball, and track to be a sport. The qualities that tend to make these activities considered sports are, running, tackling, hitting a ball, participating in relays, and so much more. Not mentioned in this list of sports is dance. People tend to believe that dance is nothing more than moving your body to some music, it is also very mentally engaging as well as being a physically demanding activity. The question that many might ask: Why is dance not classified as a sport? Dancers that compete in competitive situations do not get off as easily as people may think. These dancers require countless hours of exercising, training, and stretching, just as much, if not more, than other sports. To perfect the art of dancing comes with years of training and dedication. With this explanation of the art of dancing, it can be concluded that dance is in fact a sport.
The controversy over whether cheerleading is a sport has been spreading and many people actually do not know if it is. At the moment, cheerleading it is not a sport which was originally my opinion in this situation. Although, cheerleading is being considered for classification as a sport, it really isn`t a sport. The society, in general, has not accepted cheerleading as a sport as it was voted on in 2014. For it to be a sport it needs to be legally voted on to be a real sport by law.
Cheerleading is one of the leading causes of catastrophic injuries in female athletes in high school and college levels, yet people still argue that it is not a sport and how “easy” it is. Reasons cheer is not labeled a sport yet is because all of the benefits that would need to be provided for cheer teams because of title IX, the primary purpose of cheer (not competing), and the fact that cheerleading would not exist if they labeled it a sport because then their primary purpose would be to compete, not lead on their school’s teams.
So that begs the question, what is a sport? Is it using a ball or scoring goals or running and kicking? Is it competing against others with the aim of winning a trophy, ribbon, or money? If a so-called sport does not include those things, does that make it not a sport? Here is my criteria for a sport: if it is in the Olympics, it is a sport.
For my report I decided to do it on gymnastics. My report will include the history about gymnastics. I will talk about how to do gymnastics and the benefits for doing gymnastics. I will also explain how I am involved in gymnastics. In the late eighteenth-and the early nineteenth-century gymnastics began. It started in Germany. Johann Friedrich Gutsmuths and Friedrich Ludwig Jahn created gymnastics. It is different now because back then they did not have all of the things that we have now. To do gymnastics, you need lots strength and flexibility. Some of The rules for gymnastics are that on floor you have to stay inside the line so if you are doing flips on the floor when you land you must be inside the line Gymnastics is good for you because
