Being in contact with business owners, managers, and employees has allowed me to transition from a high school adolescent to a mature adult. I have taken responsibilities at a young age most others at my age are not willing to accept, such as sending out invoices and preparing personal documents. These qualities and life experiences will be carried with me to Appalachian State and further enhance my performance in the classroom and my overall success at such an esteemed
My story is neither the most adventurous nor the most interesting. I grew up in an environment, where opportunities were almost non-existent; I quickly got exposed to the rigors and challenges of life at a very tender age. At age seven, I was already selling household items with my older brother (Bidemi) in a big African market as a way of contributing to the family upkeep. He actually taught me how to persuade people to always buy from me which I found very helpful. Before long, I had become so motivated to succeed in endeavor, especially my academics. I was among the top five in my school at the time and was also made the time prefect for the whole school due to my discipline, regularity and punctuality.
I am uniquely qualified to receive the WCU grant because of my dedication to academics, seminary involvement and pursuit of holiness.
Rutgers University would dramatically help me achieve my personal and educational goals. I am currently a sophomore at Gloucester County College with a dream of starting my own business. I will be the first in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Receiving a degree would be a huge milestone in my family and I would be setting a good example to the rest of my family. I originally applied to Rutgers when I was a senior in high school and I was ecstatic about my acceptance, but I had a personal issue that ultimately changed my plan for college. Unfortunately, I had no idea Rutgers had online degrees, so I turned to community colleges that offered online degrees as a quick solution in order to still attend college that fall. I am planning

“Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important" as Bill Gates said. There may be many great people than Bill Gates and many other famous influential quotes, but this quote kept me pondered at most of the times when I take every single important decision in my life. It is a fact that every person will make use of the advancement in the technology to achieve his goals but what more needed is the proper guidance in using the technology. A complete teacher does this work. The very same reason makes me apply to Georgia State University. The excellent faculty in Public Health department and the opportunities that the University offers propelled me to choose your University for pursuing my Masters Degree.

Most of my friends stay after school playing basketball at the gym, but throughout high school, I would hurry to catch the train back to the city. I had no idea that American University’s motto was identical to my sophomore summer’s epiphany which evolved during a South Dakota Habitat for Humanity (HH) project. My impression that I knew how hard life could be, especially after my parents’ tumultuous divorce, was dispelled. I was determined to think and act based upon the direction I wanted my life to take.

One of my academic goals is to get the best education possible at Allan Hancock College before I transfer. I will accomplish this by always paying attention to all my teachers and do all my work and most importantly make school my number one priority. Another academic goal that I have is to transfer to Cal Poly or Long Beach and obtain my Master’s degree in education. I also want to graduate with honor and with a 3.5 GPA or above. I decided that I wanted to be a teacher because I like helping people out and also I enjoy working with kids. I selected these goals because my economic background is not the great, most of the money that my family makes goes to the rent and daily expenses. We live in a small apartment and we are a family of five; we don’t usually go out and eat at restaurants only in special occasions.
In ten years I see myself playing football or basketball because I love to play sports. I know I will never give up on sports because i would love a job that is one of my most favorite things ever. You know everyone in the world wants to have fun and get paid for it. But if i had to choose between one or the other I would pick basketball because I love to run and I feel like i’m really good when I score. And I love playing with other people.
To me, entering college will be a chance for me to take control of my life and begin a new journey. My primary goal as a student is to nurture my love for learning as I believe that we are all lifelong students. I am prepared to take advantage of the intellectual freedom offered in college and I am keen on participating in workshops, attending seminars, and going on educational excursions as these activities would create an exciting environment for learning. Staying motivated, collaborating with my peers, and engaging in class are qualities that are essential for me to achieve my goal.
