When high school began my first goal was to graduate which I'd start by doing what has to be done leading to a well freshman year until I got into my junior year. Once I entered 10th grade I into the magnet program and got me overwhelmed for one year until my last two I began being aware of the useful resources I had. Those resources are the basics as being responsible to go to tutoring which I began to do which got me closer to teachers where I'd even learn materials ahead of others. I began to research my work I couldn't understand and managed some time with sacrifices to learn once again as many times needed to have it down. In addition, as I was in the magnet I also had an IEP standing for “Individualized Education Program” which I took
I was born the fourth of December 1991 in Cranbrook British Columbia. I lived there for 18 years. Before joining the military I worked as a fry cook at a Burger King for three years and held part time jobs working for the College of the Rockies summer camp programs during the summer. My parents are currently living together in Cranbrook BC. My father works outside the province testing railway tracks for two months at a time, then returns home for two to three weeks. My mother acts as the main contact point of the family, she works as a financial clerk. I have a 22 year old sister who will be attending university in Calgary this September. I attended Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook and graduated in 2009
Ms. Bennett reported that she felt she was managing her schoolwork relatively okay at school. However, she stated that when she was in her forth grade, the school involuntarily placed her in Individualized Education Program (IEP) even though she did not feel the need. Ms. Bennett admitted that she is in fact a slow learner, but that she felt “indifferent” from other students. She reported that the teachers from the IEP did not do anything to teach the objective material but allowing a group of students, including Ms. Bennett to watch a series of movies during class for the entire grades since the beginning of the placement. She described that no one was encouraged to learn in the IEP classroom, and furthermore, their classroom was located in the back of the school behind all the classrooms for the regular curriculum as if the students in the IEP were not important. Ms. Bennett explained that she was able to obtain passing grades regardless of what she did in the classroom.
Automotive industry pioneer Henry Ford once said,“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal”. Each and every day I live by this quote when thinking about my future and the obstacles that lay ahead. One hurdle that I can think to be the toughest is the transition from Elementary to Middle School. This was very terrifying for me as 11 year old juvenile. So what did I do? I made friends, did my best on my work, and looked toward the future. I wanted and still want my future to be finishing high school with honors, and working for United Airlines as a Captain. As a Sophomore in Park View High School, I have very much so passed the transition from Elementary to Middle, and feel good about how I overcame
Prior to high school, I had done well in school, but did not drive myself to . Towards the end of my eighth grade year, I had attended my brother’s award banquet and noticed that there were students winning almost every award and were recognized for being at the top of their class. At that moment I decided that I wanted to be like the students who did well, but I knew that there was a large amount of effort required. Once I entered high school, I greatly increased the effort that I put into my classes. I spent more time studying, consulting teachers, and completing assignments, all while balancing sports and other extracurricular activities. My grades had drastically improved and I knew that I had succeeded, but I wanted to achieve more. Through my sophomore and junior years, I pushed myself in harder classes, became an officer in many of my activities, and increased my involvement with new activities. Presently, I am well known by my community and school for my academic achievement and service through leadership. This chain of events has increased my work ethic, responsibility, and drive for greatness. Moreover, this experience has allowed me to develop into the devoted, confident, and disciplined person I am
Once I started school I took a class similar to the one I took in elementary school. During the school year I still had trouble reading and would take extra time to learn the material. I oftentimes would get frustrated and struggled to get better grades. I would work just as hard to get the same grades as everyone else, and did not understand why I could not understand the material as well. Throughout middle school I never really made much progress; I would always fall behind and not get the grades that I thought I could get. Once I was in 8th grade I knew I needed to put forth my best effort to prepare myself for high school. When the year started, I began to work harder and started to see my grades improve. By the end of the year I was really making progress and felt ready to take on high
Major changes in my life have affected my high school career, but a large impact came from the death of my father in eighth grade. Before his passing, I was an average A/B student in middle school and even elementary school, which quickly changed in 8th grade when my classes became too hard for me to handle. I decided the best thing for my mental health was to drop out of my higher level classes. This lead to being in standard classes throughout my first year of high school with minimal effort from my part. After constantly missing school, I failed my second quarter. Instead of bouncing back from this, it pushed me down, making me believe I would never be able to recover. Without any motivation, I ended my ninth grade year with a grade point average of 1.4.
I have learnt many concepts that could be implemented and helpful for my career. Some of those include reading articles, preparing for class in advance, understanding the components of IT infrastructure and operations and challenges involved in management and governance. How information systems and business intelligence and analytics supports in management decision making. After a few classes I was enthusiastic to experience the activities that are going to happen in the upcoming class.
Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I’m not saying I didn’t learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn’t reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren’t as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of
First day of sixth grade is a very big and exciting day for everyone. But, for me it was a day that I was not ready for . Over the summer of 2013 I moved from Orlando and I knew that I would be miserable. The next three years of my life would create the foundation I would have for the rest of years to come. Going to a new school, with new people, in a new town is something that nobody looks forward to. But what I was most afraid of were the “cliques”.
For most of my life I have worked with children as a teacher, camp counselor, mentor, nanny, and program director. Years ago, I decided I wanted to create afterschool programs for students. I have seen within my community the effects of drug abuse, teen pregnancy, and delinquency among our youth. Since we live on an island, most adolescents live in rural areas and if you are not involved in sports or surfing, there isn’t much to do; which is why many get involved in drug usage, sexual promiscuity, and delinquent behavior. An afterschool program could provide our youth the means to have access to tutoring, provide guidance and mentorship, opportunities to participate in art, dance, and gardening, all within a fun, safe environment where they
I am a concerned parent of a Kindergarten student attending your school. My concern is about the new state-mandated, text-based curriculum for Kindergarten and I am protesting this new policy. The reason why I’m protesting the new textbook -based curriculum is because I believe it is not developmentally appropriate for my child’s age. Starting Kindergarten is supposed to be an exciting and successful time in my child’s life. It is a time for children to learn yes, but to also have fun learning. I feel like the textbook curriculum will only prevent my child from the enjoyment of learning. Therefore, putting too much pressure on my child. My child should be developing a drive for learning due to the curriculum being fun
I want you to go to college to continue your education. You Have excelled in you classes throughout your elementary and high school years.
Through maturity, I acquired a new and competent mindset. I suddenly realized the importance of organization and academics. I was changing left and right, inside and out, and before I could grasp my shifting and synchronization, I was already a new person. I felt different, I thought different, yet I was still me. I started enrolling in many extracurricular classes such as math, English, and Chinese. My math skills in seventh grade placed me in accelerated math allowing me to only achieve an average math education. I felt a flutter of unrest telling me that I could do better. So I executed. After the first quarter, I made a goal to put my math grade above 97% for the entire school year, and it was fulfilled. Because of my fulfillment, I was given the option to finish geometry over the summer and jump straight to algebra two over my freshman year. I spent extra time each night preparing for tests and quizzes by studying with my friends or by myself at a local cafe allowing me to almost always get above 95% on both my math and science tests. Because of my extra hours of studying, I was able to achieve a 124/117 on my semester final exam for science. That’s almost
Similar to all of mankind, I have experienced many failures; however, no failure has impacted my life more than the one that occurred throughout my transition into high school. Before entering a private high school, I had received my early education from public schooling. Throughout my time in a public elementary and middle school, my thirst for knowledge was quenched and I had excelled in all of my classes. As middle school was ending, my family and I searched for a high school education that would continue to quench my thirst for knowledge; however, the public high school in my area did not meet my expectations for education. As
One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner. The issue is "Although people may desire or intend to attain some outcome, they are not committed to that as a goal until they are willing to invest affect, cognition, and behavior in attaining it" (Traci Mann, 2013). This is why it is important to have a set path on how to accomplish important goals. I have chosen three goals that I want to accomplish to demonstrate a Process known as SMART, to help accomplish them. There goals are that I want to finally earn a college degree(personal), I want to make it
