PERSONAL STATEMENT
Starting from the first steam engine, Aeolipile to today’s Mars rover, the transcendental pervasion of mechanical engineering has shaped the life on this planet as we know it today. This progress seems never ending as the new technologies are engendering ever new complex challenges. Therefore, merging of fundamental research with real world applications is demanding now more than ever. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I am well aware of these facts and have decided to pursue an active career in cutting edge research. I am strongly motivated to undertake graduate studies in order to pursue an MS in Mechanical Engineering, which, I believe, will prepare me for my further study at the doctoral level.
I completed my undergraduate studies in November, 2016 from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. My undergraduate study at IUT gave me the exposure to existing knowledge in my field and, I believe, my graduate study at Virginia Tech will give me the opportunity to contribute to that knowledge. As an undergraduate student, although I was exposed to a variety of subjects in this field, I grew a keen interest in Mechanics related problems over the years. It started when I was taught the course ‘MCE 4203: Engineering Mechanics – I’ in my first year at IUT. It became more fascinating with the lectures on ‘MCE 4503: Mechanics of Materials’ in the third year, where I came across the complex behavior of solid
In addition to my research experience, my education gives me a strong understanding of physics related to this work, as well as preparing me for the physics-based modeling and simulations.
If I join the University of Denver family, I can continue to master the skills our future world need such developing mechatronic devices, which will increase production with less time and intensive methods. Then years from now, I see myself contributing to the field of engineering and also academics as a college professor. I intend to pass my passion forward in honor to Dr. Washington and all professors I will encounter at University of
Exploration and analysis have been the essence of my life, guiding me through the most mystifying predicaments. In this ever changing world of engineering & technology where each new day sees a spate of new concepts and applications and each passing day makes them obsolete, I always wanted to attain the highest level of excellence in education and transcend new horizons in the chosen field.
Mechanical engineering may seem like an abstract and unimportant concept to the average person, yet mechanical engineering has been around since the beginnings of humanity. Mechanical engineering is everywhere and we see the results of it in our lives every day. Most objects that we encounter, such as a pencil or a doorknob, have gone through some form of mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that uses the generation and application of heat and mechanical power to produce, fix, and design products. This benefits society and improves the lives numerous amounts of people all over the world. Mechanical engineering is useful to society through technology and inventions and without it society would be completely different. Using basic fundamental principles of mechanical movements to create technology and inventions is key to the process of mechanical engineering.
Right way, his elegancy in making us to understand about mild steels cast iron and various heat treatment process involved in making wheels and axles impressed me big time. Similarly, I attended a workshop in Photovoltaics and I felt importance of material science for enhancing efficiency of solar cells. My keen interest and desire to go to the roots of each and every concept, profundity of thinking and systematic approach of understanding the subject matter help me to secure Gold Medal at institutional level for academic excellence in Mechanical Engineering department of the college where I did my under graduate study. With a sense of focus and responsibilities I learnt the intricacies involved in research and the kinds of demands that it makes. All of this coupled with the sense of achievement which comes at the end, encouraged me to be a part of research which would help me explore the areas of my interest, namely Microstructure
Staring at engine components of a car as well as holding a smartphone with almost unbelievable thickness fascinated me in many ways indirectly leaded me into getting to know more through different sources about machines ranging from transportation to communication devices. Two years of A-level preparation, further solidified my interest in this area as I found myself very fond of learning mathematics, physics and mechanics in particular. In addition, my curiosity in the operation and dynamics of objects naturally influences my choice of degree, leading me towards Engineering as it is a discipline which satisfy my own interest and most probably bring out the best of me.
ENGINEERING COLLEGE, OSMANIA UNIVERSITY, Hyderabad. It is here my dream of pursuing a career in Civil engineering originated. Here the professors have provided their full support to increase my interest in the course work. My first formal exposure to structural engineering was in the subject of Engineering Mechanics. This course inculcated in me the fundamental tenets of structural behavior which ignited my interest in this field. Design courses like Design of Steel Structures, Reinforced cement concrete and Theory of Structures equipped with me adequate tools to carry out load resistant factor design and introduced me to Codal Provisions. Laboratory courses helped me consolidate my fundamentals and reinforce my theoretical background. I have also studied courses like construction management, surveying, strength of materials, soil mechanics,
Among all disciplines in the engineering industry, I am most interested in mechatronic engineering. Mechatronic engineering is based on the combination of mechanical, electronics and software engineering which is one of reason that I find it interesting. However, I lately discovered that it is a completely different discipline. It requires a deep understanding of
Inheriting the initial interest from my father who is an engineer, I am determined to become an engineer myself since little. Loving science, I chose to major in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) for my undergraduate education in Tongji University without hesitation. Taking a broad range of elements as raw materials, MSE incorporates theoretical research into applications, and is extensively applied in various fields, such as automotive, civil engineering, etc. I was luckily trained strictly in Tongji University within a basic multidimensional framework involving theoretic teaching and scientific research.
Growing up, I was fascinated in science, math, and cars. I thought to myself, what can I do in the future that has all three of these things together? Towards the end of high school, I noticed a major that would satisfy me is mechanical engineering. According to Michelle Singletary’s article “Not All College Majors Are Created Equal,” she suggests that students need to plan their steps going into college before investing in an education. I took the steps of researching what a mechanical engineer does and how much this career will benefit me in the long run. Becoming a mechanical engineer, I am able to design and develop machines, work with energy conversion, and work with a wide variety of automobiles and planes. Mechanical engineering is a
Engineering is a very important specialization and it can be founded in every organization, I am interested in studying engineering especially mechanical engineering which is the subject of understanding the principle of engineering such as forces and how do they effect on substances, the functionality of systems and how they work, manufacturing of tools, devices, machines and their parts with different sizes, shapes and different functions, and operation of mechanical systems.
As a graduate student, my goals are to explore various prospects of material science and alleviate
In this new world, it is unthinkable for us to know all that there is to know, yet access to the learning base is progressively promptly accessible. Along these lines, what will make us great materials technologists, instead of poor ones, is that our insight is more significant, and more present, and is connected all the more productively and successfully.
I would spend hours together experimenting and analyzing various mechanics around me like the ball bearings in my bicycle & roller skates and would be fascinated by my spring loaded toy cars. During my higher secondary schooling, I showed special interest in mathematics and physical sciences and in order to supplement the education that I received in school, I became a habitual reader of science magazines and books. As a direct consequence of this, I came to know about the latest developments in the field of science and engineering, especially aerospace and manufacturing engineering as it deeply interested me and I was naturally inclined to like the subject. The basics I learnt in school only whetted my appetite for more learning. It was but natural I would choose to take up manufacturing engineering as a career choice when I joined
My undergraduate courses are highly diversified favoring interdisciplinary research. Equipped with fundamental training in courses like Engineering physics, Mathematics and Chemistry along with Basic Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electrical Electronic and Magnetic materials, Electrical technology, Applied electronics and Instrumentation and Control engineering courses magnified my knowledge and understanding of various electrical and electronic devices and materials and various other aspects of science and technology. At the same time courses like composites and polymers, ceramic materials, emerging materials and automotive materials and Material characterization gave me insight on physics of materials. Eventhough I have gained fruitful knowledge on various classes of materials, I am most enthralled by Electronic materials and devices because it combines element of physics, Materials Science and Electronics. I feel emboldened and wish to expand my knowledge by pursuing research in the same
