Hunter Riendeau 10/20/2016 Hour 3 Biking 8.2 miles It was a bright and sunny morning up in Mackinaw we had went to the island around noon so when we got there it was lunch but we had to eat so we found a restaurant a pizza buffet and had eaten. My friend Ethan and I were ready to start biking so once we had left the buffet to start biking my friend Ethen had gotten ahead of all of us but he was too far ahead so I caught up to him and told him to stop and wait but then my Mom and Dad agreed that we should be able to go in front of everyone. So we did while biking we seen a lot of cool things like mansions and really good views of the Mackinac bridge and some lighthouses but if you looked at the water it was crystal clear but that was before we hit three Miles Ethan and I were exhausted and wanted to get to a rest stop and but at the three mile mark it said rest stop and food place 1.2 miles away all Ethan and I wanted to do was go and use the bathroom and have some water when we got there we called my mom and asked if they …show more content…
About ten minutes passed and we finally seen them so my mom bought us all the kids a water each everyone had a hard time biking with the water but Ethan and I had a cinch sack to hold our phones helmets and waters and hats so we had started to speed on our bikes back to the more popular part of the island near the almost done part of our legs felt as hot as the sun but I had an idea to take the pain off our minds by turning it into a mini competition Olympics and racing to the Trading Post shop so we did we seen some parts of the island we have never seen before such as a school and a fishing dock and another thing
Walking away from everything you once knew and starting over is never a picnic. Leaving Iraq, and moving to America has impacted my life more than anything. I was only 4 years old at that time, and the only English I spoke was “excuse me, water please.” My family and I did not know it then, but our lives were going to change; we would become “Americanized”. Learning English was one of the massive changes that occurred, the way I dressed (culture), and even the way I had power to go to school and educate myself.
It was the day the junior high volleyball girls played Madison Grant! They were the only team that we lose to last year.We were going back and forth and back. It was a really good game. Who won the biggest rivalry in Frankton JH?
Over my years of school, one big influence on me has always been sports. Ever since a young age, I have always enjoyed playing and watching sports. In my four years in high school, I have fell in love with the sport of lacrosse.
I woke up and took one bite out of my pop tart but that one bite was all I could eat. My legs were shaking, and my heart was pounding. My dad told me, “It is a true honor to even make it this far so go out there and have some fun.” Once I heard this statement, I knew I was ready to go. I arrived at school and boarded the bus. The car ride was an hour and fifteen minutes of hearing the squeaking of the wheel on the bus. My teammates were getting their heads ready for the big game.
It was a normal day I got home and my mom was there. “She told me are you ready?” “I said for what?” She exclaimed “You’re going to Norris Lake!” I was super excited because I was going with my friend from my soccer team Trey. I got packed as fast I can and they picked me up. The only problem was it was 101 degrees and a 8 hour drive. About halfway to the lake we stop at a restaurant and get food. We went to Wendys. After that we would drive and get gas and about 10 minutes before we get there we stop at Walmart and get food for the entire week.
The party had inflatable art around the back of it and had some white blocks for chairs on the sides. In the middle it had a black mat on the sand for kids to dance on. Then straight behind us was Lake Erie. I ran out into the water and it was moderately warm. I came back to the area we were sitting in. As I sat down I thought I would pull out my phone and check some of the wait times since it was dark. I saw that there was a ride with a fifteen minute wait time.
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
Yesterday I had a full practical driving test. I went in prepared and happy. However, in the beginning of the test as I was identifying hazards my driving test coordinator wasn't pleased with how I was listing them and told me to change the way I was speaking. She said this twice, and on the second time she said this she said that this was my "last warning". For example I was saying, "Making sure that the oncoming car stays on it's right, as I stay on my left", and she very forcefully wanted me to say, "Keeping an eye on the oncoming cars..." This I found frustrating as "Making sure", and "Keeping an eye", are quite synonymous to each other. Also, I have taken my defensive driving course, gone on a drive with a
We human beings are all works of art. Every experience that we have is a new stroke of paint to our canvas. The things that influence us do the same. I am not a completed work of art, but I can show my progress of what makes me. I am influenced by the media, my teachers, and the neighborhoods I lived in. Now here is the showing of my work.
Freedom: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or resistance, that is what we don’t have right now. Our lives have been hard,we are often tempted to give up and not press forward, but we are not quitters, all of us together are going to fight until we have moved on.My poor family will be Britain’s slaves if our American troops do not try. All of our colonies sleep together snuggled in a little cabin like hut , it is not the perfect little dreamhouse, all snuggled up together in a warm, comfortable bed, no, we did it the harder way.
then we left for the 4 hour trip to Mackinac Island . Soon after we finally got to arrive at the
I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and woke my brother up (which probably took five minutes) and ate breakfast. I hopped into our rental car, which was presumably small. Three layers of soft, feathered blankets over me, and probably holding onto five different head pillows. “I can’t believe we get to go to South Padre Island for three days!” I yelled to my family. It takes about eight hours to arrive at our hotel, so I definitely got carsick. The good news was that we got to eat fast food! Andrew and I got to sleep a lot while the parents got to drive. We arrived after 7 pm to our hotel. Then, we grabbed our heavy, bulky, luggage and brought them to our room to the 2nd floor. After we unpacked, we were exhausted and all but we still had the stamina to go down to the beach and take a view on the glazing ocean water. It looked very delicate like a clear foil was laid on top of the water. I doused my feet in the cool, numb water. While digging my hands deep in the soft, cushy, sand, I could feel all the grains go
Here are my five words before reading chapter 7. I tried to think way back when my daughter was an infant and came up with the five words that she would say; however, not in the order that she learned the words I am sure.
We were going to Wallowa Lake, which is located in Eastern Oregon. We had a six and a half hour drive ahead of us. Our trip began, as most car trips do. We loaded up on snacks and books on CDs. My parents rarely let us watch DVDs in the car as they think we need to ¨use our imaginations¨ and ¨look out the windows¨ here and there. Our big, white, Ford Expedition was filled to the max with my parents´ and my three siblings´ suitcases, camping gear, shoes, and three gigantic coolers filled with food. Those coolers filled with food will play a major part in my story.
I use positive self-talk, I visual success, and I am focused; these are my top three affirmations. These three affirmations combined together recently help play a positive role in my life. Right before spring break, I had an extremely hard test coming up in one of my classes which were worth a good portion of my grade. So naturally I was nervous, already feeling like I wasn’t very good in that class and knowing there was no way I could possibly pass this test. After worrying about the test I decided that I was only hurting myself and increasing the chances of failing the test. This is where the positive self-talk came in. I started telling myself I was smart, capable, and could pass this test. Once I started thinking positively I started
