“ We are all here on earth to help others” said W.H Auden. Everybody needs help it might not be a life threatening situation, it might just be helping out with a small chore but, people still need help. Have you ever helped someone or something in need? I have, one day Mrs. Melissa called and she needed my mom’s and I help.It wasn’t a big deal it was just someone in the world needing help. One day my mom and I get a call. “It’s from Mrs. Melissa” my mom says. (Mrs. Melissa is my horseback trainer.) We answered the call then Mrs. Melissa said “ the farrier is coming out on thursday and I will not be home in time to put the horses up and feed them. Will you please help me and feed the horses and put them up so that the horses can get there new shoes.” Of course we said yes. We loved the horses and wanted to help. …show more content…
First we had to put the horses up in there stale. It may seem to be a simple task but it's not our lead mare will not let the other horses in so I had to pull out the whip and flash it behind them so that she would go in her stale. Next we had to feed the horses this is the easiest chore of all. After that you need to bring two horses out at a time to the farrier to put on there shoes. So we tied up Roughty and Chip first. The farrier puts on there shoes and we bring two more out and this goes on until all the horses have to knew shoes. Mrs. Melissa finally arrives and is so grateful that my mom and I were able to go out and help her. She told us that not only did we help her we helped the horses. All in all I am so grateful that I would help Mrs. Melissa and the horses. If you ever have an opportunity to help people then take up the chance and help. In the end you will be so grateful that you could help. After all we our on this earth to help others will you take up your
Many young kids dream to own a horse, but for the majority owning a horse is too large of a responsibility and commitment for parents to handle. In my case however, my animal loving parents were eager to support my interest in horseback riding. They arranged lessons and eventually I inherited my very own hand-me-down horse from my sister. I was on that horses back every summer day and jumped on every opportunity I had to ride. As I grew older, my love for horses did not seem to fade, but the commitment grew larger and larger. My first pony turned into a much more demanding and expensive horse, and my once a year local county fair competition appearance, turned into a competition almost every weekend from early June to early September. Even though the constant preparation, competing, and responsibility were tiring at times, it could never diminish the experience that I gained from riding horses. Forming a bond and learning the art of getting a 1,200 pound, independently thinking animal to cooperate with you, are
Some people think of them as animals. Some people think of them as objects. Some people think of them as friends. Then there are the few who think of them as family. Horses have always been like family to humans, except sometimes closer. There are many benefits to owning or being around horses. They come in many different colors. There is a multitude of breeds, also. Additionally, they have a long history with humans. Horses have unique behaviors. Showing horses has been the past-time or even career of many people. Furthermore, caring for horses can be a handful, but is definitely rewarding. Finally, riding horses is not just a hobby or a sport, but an action of your heart. Horses are wondrous creatures that have lived with man or
Walking into the sunlit barn hallway, the musky scent of hay and horse fur overwhelms my senses. I see a chestnut-colored horse stick his head over the wooden stall door to greet me. As I look around, I notice other volunteers getting horses saddled up and ready for the next lesson. Turning around I smile at a young student entering with her mom, ecstatic at the prospect of being able to ride a horse despite being in a wheelchair. Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy, located in Gretna, makes dreams possible. People of all ages have the opportunity to learn how to ride a horse despite their physical or mental disabilities. After volunteering at HETRA for five years, the organization has made significant impacts on my personality, interests, and maturity.

There has always been a desire for in me to help others who can be in difficult situations or in need of help. This desire has pushed me to pursue a career within the social work field. There have been numerous instances in my life, where I took the chance to help others before helping myself. Whether these instances dealt with my family, friends, peers or strangers, I have always seen the worth in helping others. Putting others before myself has always been an enjoying experience because I am able to be selfless and provide opportunities to others who might not have the resources or help to do so. Knowing that I can have a great impact on others’ lives by directing them to resources or listening to their experiences excites me because I want
Helping others is more than giving to them it is also being open to receiving in return. One of the most powerful things is mutual human interaction where both people gain something in return. Dr. Shriver
When I was twelve years old, I learned that horses do not like me. My friend Molly and I went to Camp Ernst the summer before seventh grade during Christmas in July week. We didn’t know anyone else there, so we got stuck in a cabin with a bunch of snobby Milford girls. Molly really wanted to do the horse camp, so I did it too because I didn’t want to be alone with the other girls. I wasn’t really into horses but Molly was so I decided to take one for the team.
No matter our nationality, religion, or ethnicity, we are united in that simple fact and I feel that it is my personal responsibility to help my fellow
I realize it has been a while since I have posted a blog, but there wasn’t much going on at the time. Instead of blogging every time something occurs, why not put it all into one long chain of blogs? Let’s start all the way back to before the Thoroughbred Makeover 2015!
I got my horse when I was twelve for my golden birthday. Before I took my horse home, I went to where he currently was to learn how to ride and spend some time with him so we were both comfortable with each other. My first day there the woman I bought my horse from took me out to the pasture and told me to call his name, Kash. When Kash was the first of many horses to come up to the gate, I knew that he was going to be a great horse. Kash is a chestnut brown and his mane and tail are black, he has a white spot on his forehead and one of his ankles is completely white. The first of three days I did not ride Kash; however, I did groom him and repeatedly put on and took off his halter, bridle, and saddle. The purpose of this was for both Kash and I to get comfortable with each other and for me to learn how to do all these things since I had never been around a

I have worked with dogs (and cats) for over 10 years. I teamed with a professional pet care company back in 2006 and my love for dogs has kept me active ever since. Over the years, I have gained a great deal of knowledge working with a variety of animals including dogs, cats, reptiles, birds and small mammals. I also have experience with special needs (geriatric, disabled, health issues etc) and behavior issues.
