I scramble over the first wave as it hits me. 'Whoosh'! I manage to catch myself and prepare for the next wave as I look out into the deep-blue ocean. I see the next wave forming out back and I decide to take it. I position myself and wait. The salty smell of the ocean surrounding me is all I can smell as I feel the wave coming. I begin to paddle hard, planning my next moves as I catch the wave. I pop up and begin to ride the wave, hearing the crowd cheering me on. Excitement takes over me as I twist and turn along the wave. I see a barrel form and I go for it. The roaring of the wave drowns out any voices in my head as I am surrounded by the wave, inside the barrel. I attempt to shoot out of the barrel, but I get clipped by it. The heavy wave
I am known to be extremely clumsy. With that, it’s expected that I often end up in awkward situations. In the past I have called numerous teachers “Mom,” fallen down while walking up stairs, almost fallen off a cliff; and it can be assured there were many more instances where my embarrassing clumsiness had led me into awkward, sometimes life threatening, situations. One moment that stands out in particular takes place in every marine animal welfare activists’ “favorite” place, Sea World.
The other week I went camping and my friend Bri fell into a lake at Stokes National Forest. Bri screamed “Caroline!” as she flew into the lake!
It's just another painstaking day at the gym, a conglomeration of the din of exertion to the satisfying reverberation of metal clanging against metal. Striding confidently around the facility, it is effortless to ignore commiseration for the body, for clearly this must wait until the cycle is done. Reaped from all the interminable hours are of course substantial gains, and for this reason the cycle must change in order to maintain an impeccable physique. Accomplishing this goal is intrinsic enough, the system of exercises must be manipulated sporadically so as to avoid slipping into a constant routine of simplicity. Many variables are far from that manageable to govern. Too often people find themselves hopelessly adrift on whatever cycle life
It had been one scorching hot summer when the temperatures were record breaking. Everyone was dying for water and air conditioning, people were having heart strokes, getting over heated and being rushed to the hospital. This place was Nashville, Tennessee, where country music is all you hear and they all wear jeans, button down shirts with boots and act the heat is no big deal.
I woke up on the shifting sand of the beach.I begin my day by gathering the firewood then I make my pallet and then I go to the fishing hole for my breakfast I was planning to eat a salmon or a langosta.I dive in with my spear and I hear Timothy's voice in my head saying "Phillip, there will be good luck for yourself today." I feel something wrap around my arm and squeezed tight. As fast as I can I swim up as soon as I get to the top I hear "I told you I was stronger than this island," It was Timothy.I was so confused and happy at the same time.I ask "I thought you died from the hurricane."Well, the man from above gave me another chance." To take care of me! We hear a sound almost like a airplane, then we both run to the signal fire to start
I’ve never really been too fond of the beach in thought, however, when actually there, and experiencing it with my friends, it’s an entirely different story. It was an unexpected call from my one friend Jarec who told me something along the lines of, “Me and Jandro are going to the beach this weekend wanna come?”, to which I replied with a rather uninterested, “yes”, little did I know however, that going to the beach with my friends was going to be a riptide of fun and adventure.
Seagulls soared delicately over my head and the race of the waves upon the shore had made it clear that it was the perfect summer day in California. Various kites of contrasting colors and shapes flew overhead as they danced with the wind. In its essence, the exquisite body of the abysmal, salty water glistened to its heart’s content. My mom, my sister, and many of the many friends of my mother’s were enjoying a pleasant stroll in the cool breeze. T-shirts, shorts, sunglasses, and vibrant colored swimming suits were what filled the San Diego beach as a common apparel.
Tomorrow at noon i will be getting picked up early from school. My family and I are leaving to go to Virginia Beach. Where it's always hot and the air smells like salt from the ocean. I am hoping that in the three days we are there i can go parasailing. Also i would like to go charter boat fishing, i called and asked how much it would be and they said it would only be thirty five dollars a person and u get to keep what u catch. My mom called the parasailing place and they said the have three different types of flying. The first one u can go up eight hundred feet, the second one was nine hundred and the third one was a thousand feet off the ground. If i do go parasailing i am going to go all out. Even though i am afraid of heights i am getting
Waking up at the crack of dawn. I tossed one bag after another down the staircase feeling sluggish.
I don’t know how you did it, but within a month you have made me absolutely crazy about you. And it might seem like all these feelings are coming out of the blue but that’s because I have been holding them back because the last thing I want to do is scare you away. Yet I feel like if I don’t share these feelings and thoughts with you I could lose your attention and someone else could win you over, and that is honestly my worst fear at this point. Babe, you’re amazing. The fact that I was able to open up to you about how my dad rejected my coming out and you could calm me down and be there for me was calming. Any time I am stressed and I talk to you, you’re always so supportive and reassuring and I love that more than anything. You’re the type
There I was, going as fast as I can. I am invincible was the thought going through my ten year old brain. After church, my family and I were heading to my grandparents house. Every Sunday, all of my mom's family goes over to my grandparents to have ice cream and talk; however, this time we were having dinner with the whole family because my it was the start of the summer. I couldn't wait to see my cousins. I was all over the car. “Sit still!” said my aggravated mother.
In April of 2014 my family and I went on our annual family beach trip to Destin Florida. We usually pick a month during the spring because it is not too blistering nor too icy and the temperature of the water is exactly right. I want to say the climate remained in the low 80’s the entire time we were at the beach. This particular trip is very special to each and every one of my family members especially my dad.
Standing unsteadily in front of the rusted stop sign, bent from the core, I placed my shaking hand on the razor like edges of the sign. Glazing beyond the lifeless trees, a tear shed down my face. I placed a flower respectfully on the uneven, gravelled road. To think today marked five painful years. I stumbled backwards as the dust from the gravel rustled up underneath my feet. The metal framed chair reflected into my eyes as Oscar began to move.
As i stepped out onto the sand I could feel the warm sand between my toes and i could hear the blue waves crashing onto the shore. The are was filled with the saltiness of the water and you could feel the cold refreshing breeze blowing into your face. The sky was a bright neon-blue with fluffy white clouds. You could see dark green clumps of seaweed being brought up to the shore by the waves. Then my dad yelled,”Hurry up we have to find a good spot.”
Finally, there's Sam and Dean at the Beach. Five of Cassipoea7's prompts were about summer and I gave her this weird, dark AU vid, I had to. Plus, the boys deserve a happy-ish ending. I just didn't know how to do it. *sigh*
