Have you ever wasted money in hopes of winning something that you have never received? I have done this once about five years ago; what happened was my family and my cousins once went on a cruise ship for a nice vacation. Since it was vacation, the adults didn't want to deal with us all the time, so they often let us have free reign. There were many activities available to us on the cruise, one of them being an arcade. Before we did anything, our parents gave us a limit to how much money we could spend there. Since I was just a kid at the time, all the games and prizes available brainwashed me. For one game, called BarberCut Lite, one of the prizes available was a Nintendo 3DS, and we really wanted a Nintendo 3DS. As a result …show more content…
At this point, I wasn't focused on winning a dispensable 3DS. Instead, I was very anxious about the bill from the arcade and what my parents had to say, and it was hard to keep my mind off of the topic; at the time it felt like a malignant crime. I knew for a fact that I had spent too much and was too scared to find out exactly how much I spent. I felt guilty and dumb for spending so much money, more than the actual cost, trying to win a Nintendo 3DS. I hoped that my parents wouldn't say anything about it or get mad, but I knew that something would happen. Eventually, of course, my dad saw the bill but was surprisingly calm about it. I could tell that he was disappointed though despite this. I may not have won the shiny 3DS that was offered at the arcade, but I learned a lesson of much more value than an unnecessary gaming device. By wasting money at an arcade in hopes of winning something that I never won, I learned that I need to be more cautious of money and how I spend it, in addition to not spending too much money on something that I hope to win because there is always a chance that I will not
Hello GameStop i was just wanting to say that i think that your guys trade in for games i think the people should be getting more money when they wanna trade stuff for store credit or cold hard cash, I don't get that when you wanna trade a new game and you guys say that you will only give them like 12 bucks i think its should be like for a new game in this generation they should at least give them what they paid for but like ten bucks less.
December 17th, that is my birthday. Having switched school counties in middle school my birthdays always had to find the best of both worlds between two different groups of friends. Well, I had recently discovered the magic of social storytelling in games like Dungeons & Dragons. At this point three of my friends and I would meet up every two weeks for a late night session of fantasy tabletop role-playing. These nights were the high points of our social lives; it only made sense that I wanted ALL of my friends to experience this awesome game. So, I invited everyone asking them to come over around 6:00 p.m. and expect to be there until around midnight. I loaded up on snacks, came up with an adventure for us all to go through, and actually cleaned a little. Everything was set up for everyone to have fun, eat snacks, stay up late, and hopefully find a new hobby. Unfortunately that is not at all what happened.
Once I wanted a football jersey, but my parents said that I had to buy it with my own money and I didn't have enough money….
Aryn my twin brother said “I’ve been wanting the Xbox as soon as it came out.
The first argument that arose out of the video game world was the debate of video game violence. Still unresolved, this debate has actually allowed for the video game industry to come fully into the main stream. As the din over violence quieted the fans of the game society began to focus on issues more akin to their own style. So then began the debate of game play vs. the video game narrative. The question arose; can a game also be a story? While the semantics would suggest that, no, a game cannot be a story, we do realize that a game can contain a story. However,
When I was 10 my companion said it would be truly cool on the off chance that we set up our Pokemon cards together on the grounds that we would have a full set and additional items. This young lady trampled me and I said yes, we put the cards in deck boxes at her home and would play with them frequently.
1. Compare and contrast Nintendo’s marketing strategy for the Wii with Sony’s strategy for PS3.
Remember the days of childhood where you knew SO little about the world that nearly every day you would learn something that you now take for granted? Something that was significant? Take for instance, the first time you got caught cheating, or the first time that asking for help returned a reward, or the first time you got no reward for doing something right?I remember the first time I found out I could get something from one parent, even if the other said no. This is something most kids come across at one point or another, and more often than not, the biggest lesson learned is that they can’t get away with this. I am no ordinary kid though, now am I? One day I saw an ad on the television for a new Nerf gun; and I had to have it. I had had all of them at one point or another, I couldn’t get enough. Throughout most of my elementary and maybe even early middle school life, I was obsessed with Nerf guns. I did so much more than just play with them. I modified them, sold them, painted them, etc. So when the Longshot Super Sniper 2.0 (or whatever spiffy name some marketing group thought would appeal to 10-year-olds) was announced, I wasn’t long to run into the parlor where my dad was reading and ask for it. He said no, I could
In the past week or two I have been taking surveys and learning about numerous careers. Most of the careers I didn't really prefer or like, but there were some of the careers I was interested in.
When I was twelve years old my best friend’s family decided to try snowboarding and skiing for the first time, that’s when I learned my lesson. My best friend at the time was 14, he lived right down the road from my house and his family was my second family for a long time. His name was John, he invited me on the trip as well. We went to my house to ask my parents about the trip five day snowboarding trip. I asked them separately and got two different answers. My dad was all for it, he even offered to pay for everything. My mom on the other hand was worried because it was all the way in Pennsylvania and it was five days away from me . The fact that I had never been on a snowboard or skis in my life didn’t help my argument either. So as the day approached I still hadn't received a direct answer from my mom. So Tim, my friend’s dad went to my house and reassured her that I was in good hands and all that good stuff. When he arrived back at his house he said through my friend’s door “ Get packed we are leaving in two days” and the arrangements were made. On the day of the trip, my dad gave Tim the money for my equipment and such. He also turned to me and handed me my very first 100 dollar bill for whatever I wanted or needed on the trip. My mom handed me a prepaid cell phone and she told me to call her twice a day. I went

It was getting close to the end of summer my friend decided I'm going to upgrade to the Xbox one and gave me the old 360. I thought it was pretty awesome considering I only had. A Wii you and a PS 3 . I thought it was really cool usually I would go over to play his Xbox I frankly always preferred It over the PS and wii .I was so excited when he said I could have it she also gave me some of the games that didn't work on his Xbox one. He warned me about his legend of Zelda disc though he said it was pretty quick shoot at times and chance completely like it wasn't even the same game but he still played it because he loves Zelda. When I got home that day I immediately set up the Xbox I was stoked to have it I didn't say I might have some more game and I went in the attic. I didn't find any Games for the consul but I found a N64 and some games. I decided that I would use the N64 I was a big nerd back then one of the games was ocarina of time with the Xbox to compare
“$183.30 will be your total.” The clerk said i thought about it hmm? I only have about $152. “Dad can you pay the rest?” as i was begged “Sure son but just know you got to work it off tho.” a smile popped on my face “Ok” i said “Thank you so much dad.” “You welcome, you passed the test!” “What test?” “Don’t worry about it you will find out one day.” “Okay” This experience was meaningful because, he showed me he cared about me by spending his last money he had on me. He spent $31.30 on me which was his last spending money to help me out. The rest of his money was going into our home, for things like food, bills, rent, hygiene products. My dad want to be the best dad he can for me and my big brother.
