Imagine the sweet smell of pralines slowly escaping in a cloud of aromatic heaven from River Street Sweets, as you walk down River Street with fine mist looming off the water. From there you can see the beautiful, ancient homes that line the streets of Savannah. Magnificent willows silhouette the cobblestone roads with Spanish moss drooping off of their thickly aged limbs. Here lies an opportunity for a highly educational and whimsical, all expenses paid trip to Savannah, Georgia. There are many things to do in Savannah, Georgia including, home tours, horse driven carriages, lighthouse tours (in Tybee Island), and for the more courageous of us, ghost tours. Savannah is an extremely historical city and adventures lie around every corner. In addition, there are also riverboat tours, museums, cemeteries that date back to 1789, and many old churches and cathedrals. Furthermore, the seventh grade would benefit immensely from this trip, as it is truly a learning experience. I know that Savannah is a great fit for our class, combining elements of typical Southern hospitality and a …show more content…
There is every type of food imaginable in Savannah, from pizza, to southern home cooked, to seafood. The palate of Savannah could fit to the most picky of people. Don’t even get me started on River Street Sweets. No matter if you hate candy, like candy, or are straight up obsessed with it, the scent of this store alone, is enough to make anyone’s mouth water. On the other hand, the students could stay at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, that has the most magnificent view in the city, I guarantee. Moreover, it doesn’t matter which side of the building you are put on, there’s a breathtaking sight from every angle. Not 30 minutes away from the Hyatt, is Tybee Island, where you can get your fill of seafood and climb one of the oldest lighthouses in the country, built in 1732 by orders of James
Savannah is the city of Southeast Georgia near the mouth of the Savannah River. James Ogelthorpe founded it in 1733, it is the oldest city in Georgia and has been a major port since the early 19th century (Soukhanov, p.1606). Savannah has been called that gently mannered city by the sea and indeed it is, with Spanish moss hanging from the huge oak trees and the shine of the moon reflecting off the pillars of Savannah’s grand mansions. Ones imagination can conjure up a simple setting where the clop of hooves on the cobblestone streets echo in the mind and sweat from the glass of a delicious madiera leaves a ring on the tabletop.
A town in itself has a personality like that of a living being. Its personality is a result of its past experiences, its occupants, and surrounding influences. These forces combine and act in a complicated way to move a city, like an organism, through growth and change. Significant forces such as the great depression influence attitudes, such as racism, toward others as individuals compete to survive. In To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Scout, the daughter of a lawyer by the name of Atticus Finch, tells the story of growing up in the small southern town of Maycomb, Alabama. Through her eyes, the reader discovers many of the struggles of the period faced by its inhabitants and resembled
Though I spent my entire life living in North Carolina I never thought of myself as a Southerner. My understanding of the Southern lifestyle was quite limited; there is an emphasis on family solidarity, and self-sufficiency with an agricultural backdrop that is part of their essence. The South is not simply a location, manners or customs it is a way of life. Hearing the childhood details of a favorite professor allowed me to envision a picture perfect life under the shade of a magnolia tree and little southern girl who grew up to be a Sandhills Community College professor, Mrs. Cole.
On April second my honors class went on a day trip to the Chickasaw Cultural Center. It is in Davis and near the Tushkahoma site in September. I had been to many cultural centers before, but I cannot remember if I had been to Chickasaw’s specifically. I went separate from the group due to colliding plans. Therefore, I went with my friends Allison, Alyssa, Alie, and Jordan. Driving to the Cultural Center our GPS sent us to a campground, so we had to turn around and ask for directions. Eventually, we located the huge sign, which we somehow missed, pointing us in the right direction. Driving in, I was quite surprised at how clean it was. You could tell that they took pride in their heritage, just by the way they presented the center to us.
Well the week of our trip to Memphis Tennessee had finally arrived ! My colleagues Beverly,
In recent days I had the opportunity to go back to North Carolina for a few short days. There, with a heavy heart from a loss in the family, I had nothing else to look towards. I’ve always heard of individuals finding peace, faith, blessings, and love of Christ from attending church. I’ve never been a person who put their faith into a higher power. As I was growing up my parents never wanted to force me into any religion without me knowing everything about it and choosing which route to take on my own. As the years treaded on, I never bothered myself to learn about the many different religions and what each stands for. So I used this opportunity as mine to attend church for the very first time. I attended the Roman Catholic services held
Every single person has their own unique identity and culture. At first when I moved to Lafayette from my hometown it was like being a White Tiger around all regular tigers.I didn't really fit in and I kinda stood out because I wasn't from Lafayette.I moved to Lafayette from my hometown in the summer of 2015.My cultural identity fits me because of my accent.
Have you ever expected an unfavorable outcome from an experience, yet were shocked with the best? Nashville, Tennessee is the city where I was able to realize that I have the potential to do great things with my life. It was the middle of June at the 2016 HOSA International Leadership Conference, and I was sixteen years old. At this time, I had been dealing with anxiety and depression for so long that I never thought I would be able to make an accomplishment that meant something to others and myself. This trip helped me realize that I am capable of more than I think.
One year ago this morning on April 11/2016 I arrived to Charlotte, North Carolina after four day trip on Amtrack train. From San Jose, California to Charlotte, North Carolina.
I had so much fun when me, my sister and my momma took a trip to South Carolina. We was originally going just to go to my brothers graduation from basic training, but ended up doing more than we expected. We had a rough trip on the way to his graduation. By trouble I mean our truck broke down in Atlanta, GA. Since the truck didn't make it all the way there, we got a hotel room in Atlanta. We woke up the next day and went to explore since we was already in Atlanta and I haven't never been before. We first went to find something to eat, but didn't know where anything was at so we asked around. One man said we should go to the Underground Atlanta food court. This is shopping and entertainment district in downtown Atlanta. It was a lot of food
During my trip to Louisiana this weekend, I made plans to meet two of my friends at one of our favorite restaurants. The racial composition of the group was two black individuals and one white individual. We were having lunch and catching up when a white woman who was sitting nearby with her two children came over to ask if my white friend could watch her children while she went to the restroom. She never made eye contact with me or my other black friend and the question seemed solely directed to the white individual of the group.
In August of 2010, our church embarked on a work and witness trip to Jamaica. The group consisted of two teams, a work and a ministry team. The work team assisted the people of Westmoreland to complete their local church. The ministry team presented bible stories and skits through puppetry at various locations. This Mission was called "Maddy's Mission".
I never thought a white woman from North Carolina could make a change. Back then, everywhere I went I can feel the town's eyes follow. You don't grow up thinking that your beliefs could/would change. Hell, you grow up thinking much of nothing down here. In North Carolina, the only thing you have time for is making money. So you can buy more time.
Have you ever been to Atlanta,Georgia before? The time i went to Atlanta,Georgia was month I have ever had. I got to hangout with my cousins, family, and friends. We had so much fun with them because we did something so much fun.We went to Atlanta,Georgia to go visit people.
Interesting, I was not aware that Vistaprint had so many different products. Uniquely, it could be said that Vistaprint uses job order cost accounting because each item produced is done so to fulfill a specific customer’s order. As mentioned, you created the order specifically for your high school reunion. Thus, a job order cost sheet was probably created for your order and the direct labor, direct materials, and manufacturing overhead was separated out for your order. However, because of the number of different products Vistaprints sells it may be complicated for them to track expenses.
